A mysterious shiny object floating high over Manhattan's West Side set off a flurry of reports and wild speculation Wednesday that a UFO was flying over the city.
UFO New York City: What's The Truth? After UFO sightings over China, it’s now time for Chelsea to grab the headlines related to UFO sighting. Yes, people have spotted UFO over New York City, or was it something else? No one knows for sure. But thousands of Chelsea residents yesterday saw a silvery vision of a dozen balloon-like dots hovering in the clear-blue sky over West 23rd Street in Manhattan.
The sightings sparked rumors that the objects hovering in the skies are UFOs, the spaceships of aliens.
"Common sense says it wasn't a UFO. Common sense says it was a plane or a balloon, but this thing stopped everyone in the street for two blocks. Any New Yorker will tell you, that alone is extraordinary," said 52-year-old witness Daniel Calhoun.
Another witness, Tim Powell, 28, described the objects as "the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. It looked like a jellyfish made of lights that just hovered in the sky like it wanted to be seen. I was half expecting the aliens to beam down and introduce themselves." The authorities are yet to confirm that whether the objects that were sighted in the sky were balloons or something else.

Shimla: A teacher in Shimla allegedly burnt the fingers of a Class VI student after accusing her of stealing a mobile phone.
According to a complaint lodged with the education department on Tuesday, the victim's parents said Seema Devi of the Government Senior Secondary School in Shillai in Sirmaur district committed the crime Monday.
"The teacher forced their daughter to put her fingers over a lighted candle, saying if her fingers burnt, it would mean she was the thief," an official said.
Deputy Director Jagdish Negi said: "We are inquiring into the matter."

The secret of the strength and longevity of the Great Wall of China lies in the sticky rice that was used as its mortar. The sticky rice mortar bound the bricks together so tightly that in many places weeds still cannot grow. However, there was widespread resentment against the Wall in the south of China because the Ming emperors requisitioned the southern rice harvest both to feed the workers on the Wall and to make the mortar.
"The inorganic component is calcium carbonate, and the organic component is amylopectin, which comes from the sticky rice soup added to the mortar. This amylopectin helped create a compact microstructure, [giving the Great Wall] more stable physical properties and greater mechanical strength," he reported in the journal of the American Chemical Society.

A man in the US has been arrested after he sent his estranged wife a friendship request on social networking site Facebook, despite a court's restraining order.
Harry Bruder of Hudson, Florida, was served with a restraining order in June from his wife, Carole Jean Bruder, over allegations of domestic violence, the Herald Sun reported Tuesday.
The restraining order prohibited Harry from having face-to-face contact with his wife as well as electronic communication.
Carole called the police Monday after she found that Harry had sent her two friend requests on the social networking website.
When police went to Bruder's apartment, he admitted sending the requests. "Yeah, I did it," he said.
Bruder is being held in jail on a $5,000 bail for violating the restraining order.

 Commonwealth games second major sporting event after Olympic games, these games are inspired by Olympic games.
In the past history this is the second time that such kind of a grand event will be organized in Asia. Opening and closing ceremonies of Commonwealth Games will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Delhi. On the 14th’Oct’2010 public holiday is declared on closing of this event. Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, president of Indian Olympic Association will be the head of the organizing committee.
At least of 2.6 million people are expected to come in Delhi to participate as viewer of Common Wealth Games 2010.
HUGE COST OF THIS EVENT-
While hosting a mega sports event, some escalation in costs is understandable as new projects get added and the scale of the show is expanded.
However, in the case of Delhi's Commonwealth Games, official cost estimates have gone up by a whopping 525% since the city won the bid. Unofficial assessments put the escalation at a mindboggling 1575% - that is more than 15 times the original estimate - according to an independent report released on Thursday.
India's bid document for the Commonwealth Games in 2003 estimated the cost of hosting the event at Rs 1,899 crore.
After several revisions the estimates now range from an official figure of Rs 10,000 crore to independent experts at an astounding Rs 30,000 crore.

 I came across one article so thought of sharing with u guys.. this has very controversial issues..Lets have a look..
1. That was fine when the search business was expanding at 30% or 40% a year, and Google's revenue was growing at twice that. Long-term projections for growth in the search business are more in the 15% to 17% range. Yet analysts estimate that 91% of Google's revenue still comes from the AdWords and AdSense business model that Google built around Page and Brin's breakthrough PageRank algorithm. Even more telling, an estimated 99% of its profit does too. This year's projected earnings growth of 18% is a third of what Google averaged over the past five years. A lot of companies would kill for that growth, but for technology companies, and Google in particular, those numbers don't impress.
2.Some investors also worry about Google's ability to keep pace with consumers' evolving use of the web. Say you want to buy running shoes to train for a marathon. Five years ago you would have simply Googled it, looked at the list of results, weighed your options, and made the purchase, perhaps by clicking on one of the sponsored links that accompanied your search. Today you might still do that, but increasingly you might pose the question "What running shoes should I buy?" to your friends on Facebook, or maybe write "Who knows about training for marathons?" on Twitter. By the time shopping service Groupon sends you (and 25 of your friends) an offer for the perfect shoes and registration for a race, you'll probably just pounce on it.
"Google is not the hot company anymore," says Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce.com (CRM). "Their stock has been mostly flat for five or six years now. How can you claim to be a leader with equity performance like that? That's starting to look like Microsoft or Yahoo (YHOO). They have to get into some other place, and quickly."
3.In this new phase of the web, one of the largest threats to Google and its core search business is the expanding Facebook footprint around the world. Not only because social networks (and those used for work like LinkedIn fall into that same category) offer a substitute for search for consumers, but also because they offer a substitute for advertisers as well. In display advertising, for example, Facebook has a 16% share of the roughly $9 billion market, according to comScore (Google sites have 2.4% of the market), and advertisers say they're looking for more ways to plug into Facebook.

I guess Google has lots of assets they dont need to get scared but Internet is changing so fast so one social networking site cud be beneficial to Google otherwise Twitter and Facebook can take over large share of Google..
Even In china, Google has tough competition with Baidu.com which has 29% of market Share..
