Knowledge / Which Plastic is Safe???
« on: July 10, 2010, 08:22:08 PM »

The connection between plastic and cancer was discovered in 1987 at Tufts Medical School.Since then , dozens of studies have proven the plastic -cancer link. We now know that when lab animals are exposed to these plastic chemical s, they develop cancer. We also know that when u keep food or water in certain plastic, some of the chemicls leach into that food or water.
but here we need to know, all plastics are highly toxic and highly volatile, others r safer and more r stable.

so question is How can u tell which one r safest and which one r dangerous?
Answer is simply look at the recycling number on the container.. if u look at the bottom of the container, u will see a little triangle with a number inside it.
then follow guidelines as follows:

1. CONTAINERS WITH 3, 6, OR 7 ON THE BOTTOM-
r most dangerous of all. They contain a dangerous and volatile chemical called BPA and shud be avoided at all costs.

2. CONTAINERS WITH A 4,5 ON THE BOTTOM-
r generally considered safe. but u shud probably use them sparingly. and u shud never use them to microwave.

3. CONTAINERS WITH 1 OR 2 ON THE BOTTOM-
R the safest. These include clear water containers, as well cloudy containers u normally found water and milk in.
These containers r called PETE and HDPE, r safe for storing food and drink.
But again never use them to microwave.

most dangerous cancer associated with plastic is breast cancer..So be careful guyz..
THANKS:)

News Khabran / Sleep Deprivation may lead Obesity
« on: July 07, 2010, 09:03:09 PM »

A recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that "sleep restriction cud be one of the the environmental factors that contribute to the obesity epidemic."
In particular, study discovered that normal weight young man ate several hundred extra calories a day when they has gotten four hours of sleep compared to when they slept for full eight hours.

The study led by Dr. Laurent Brondel of the European Centre for Taste Sciences in France, followed the sleep, and energy expenditure in 12 healthy young men across two 48- hours periods.During 48 hours period, the men went to bed at 12 am and woke up at 8am on one day, and on the other day they went to bed at 2am and woke up at 6am.

Researchers found that after the short night sleep, the men consumed 22% more calories, on average than when they were allowed to sleep eight hours.

p.s In other words, if u want to lose calories, u shud take adequate sleep.

News Khabran / New World Class Air Port in Delhi
« on: July 06, 2010, 08:09:46 PM »

India's biggest public building, a £2bn terminal at Indira Gandhi international airport in Delhi, opened at the weekend after seven days of religious ceremonies involving 300 priests, and last-minute polishing of its 500,000 square metres of granite floors.

Some Facts abt this Airport

The terminal was finished in 37 months at a cost of US$2.2 billion, which compares favorably with the 45 months it took to complete Beijing’s similar international terminal at Capital Airport

The new terminal is slated to be the third biggest in the world after after Dubai and Beijing. It has 78 gates, 168 check-in counters, 97 automated walkways, 95 immigration counters, an open car park for 4,300 cars and 20,000 square meters of retail space.

The steel and glass terminal is expected to handle 34 million passengers a year and will see its first arrival – a non-stop Air India flight from New York – in 10 days' time.

The terminal was also designed to counter the extremes of Delhi's climate. "The roof is angled in such a way that will only allow northern light to come in," said Clare Brenner, the project's British architect.
The nine-level terminal is equipped with the largest car park in India, accommodating 4,300 cars, and its own metro line. There are more than four miles of conveyor belts, and bridges to accommodate the giant double-decker Airbus A380 planes.

Completed in record time, this is what the country hopes to show-off to the world when visitors arrive for the Commonwealth games 2010 later this year. This airport is going to be great help for India's Business with foreign countries.

Knowledge / Vegetarian VS Non Vegetarian
« on: July 01, 2010, 09:30:33 PM »
Lets have debate over vegetarian and non vegetarian diet.

There is absolutely no question that the average person does best health-wise by consuming a mixed diet that is as fresh, and hopefully as unprocessed as possible.
But some of us r vegetarain and some r non vegetarian but we have some reasons why we prefer particular food or why not??
in this post, My vote is for Vegetarian Food and I have reasons for this preference. First of all , its religious factors and second is due to environmental factors not whole family but my mother is vegetarian so this cud be becoz of mom's influence over my personality.and lastly, non vegetarain food is anti planet and anti animal rights.

Our bodysystem is just not  built  to consume non vegetarian food.reasons r
1.If Nature intended you to be a non-vegetarian, she would have equipped you with claws, and sharp pointed teeth to tear into any flesh; given you acidic saliva to digest the animal protein; a round stomach with the capacity to produce plenty of hydrochloric acid, fewer intestines to shorten the process of digesting the meat so that you could expel it before it putrefies inside; a liver that could dispel more uric acid than it does.something like this:)

2.Instead, we have hands with moveable fingers that can delicately pluck and peel fruits; blunt teeth and molars that crush and grind; alkaline saliva to digest plant protein; a stomach that produces small quantities of hydrochloric acid; more intestines that hold on to the food and give time for your smart cells to extract the required nutrients, a liver that can expel small amounts of uric acid.

3.If you find one of them is suffering from gout, you can be sure he is a heavy red-meat eater. You can almost bet that he eats salami or sausages for breakfast, a steak for lunch and meat for dinner.

4.Meat is so high in indigestible fat content that it clogs up your arteries and can lead to a heart problem. It gives you no energy because though it contains carbohydrates, its also has undigestible animal protein and a high content of fat. That's the reason you feel heavy after a meaty meal. In fact, your smart cells sweat working overtime to digest the meat and use up all the carbohydrates and energy in knocking the meat into digestible shape.

5.Meat also has neither fibre nor healthy plant protein. The animal protein is tough on your smart cells and turns toxic - turning your insides into mess. You get indigestion, bad breath and a heartburn. The toxies load your immune system and also make you vulnerable to disease.

6.Lastly, look at your mental make-up. When you see a plump goat, do you get that predatory gleam in your eye that makes you stalk and kill it? ofcourse, u dont.

For, the time taken by the body to digest and absorb various foods is:
13 hours - raw vegetables, fruits, sprouts.

24 hours - cooked vegetables and pulses.

72 hours - non-vegetarian and fried food.

I think theses r enough reasons to to convert  all PJ users  into vegetarian  :pagel: I welcome all other ideas too Plz share..

Knowledge / Raw Food and Longevity
« on: June 29, 2010, 09:02:58 PM »
Eating raw food benefits health and human longevity in so many different ways.

One saying is that When Body is depleted with Enzymes Which r called Energy of Life then Body Dies..
But Cooking destroys most of the enzymes from food..
there r many benefits from raw food as follows..

1. ENZYMES- The pioneering research of Dr. Edward Howell discovered that humans are born with enough enzyme stores to theoretically live about 200 years!
The downside to this is that cooked food (which always has all of the enzymes within it destroyed when heated above 115°F) uses up your body's metabolic enzymes (the type that are required for basic biological functions of life) to convert into digestive enzymes. Eating enzyme rich raw food benefits these limited stores

2. HORMONES
Various live superfoods and herbal adaptogens contain natural hormones and hormone precursors that are very beneficial
These raw food benefits help maintain the proper levels of hormonal health commonly associated only with young people.

3.OXYGEN
We get oxygen from our food and water as well as through breathing pure clean air. Cancer and many other diseases simply cannot exist in an adequately oxygenated body (which is why hyperbaric oxygen chambers are such powerful life saving tools in Hospitals). This is why it is crucial to get the raw food benefits.BUT .eating cooked food which uses up more oxygen to metabolize.

4.PHYTOCHEMICALS
Perhaps the greatest recent discovery in nutrition has been the role that phytochemicals play in health and longevity in humans. It is more clear than ever that eating raw food benefits your endocrine (hormonal) system because of these powerful chemicals which include all natural antioxidants, polysaccharides, nucleic acids, alkaloids, etc.

5.PARAMAGNETISM

Live raw food benefits your body's electrical field simply because it still has it's own paramagnetic field.  Nobel Prize winner Dr. Fritz Popp discovered that humans retain, absorb and emit photons (light energy). 97% of human DNA has also been shown to give off photons. You absorb the photons from food to fuel your bio-electric field. Cooked food literally requires your body to fill the dead matter with photons so that it can be assimilated, thus weakening your body.

6.WATER
Cooking begins to dehydrate food. Some forms, such as grilling, baking and frying do it more than boiling or steaming, but in the end, all cooked food has less water in it then it started out with.

If you want to look juicy and fresh for as long as possible, you have to eat juicy and fresh as much as possible!
THANKS

Knowledge / Coffeee and Health
« on: June 27, 2010, 09:21:31 PM »

I love Coffee so this post dedicated to all Coffee lovers..

A 2006 issue of Harvard Women's Health Watch claims that moderate coffee consumption, defined as 3 to 4 cups per day, is actually beneficial to your health. So, to all of our fellow addicts out there, you don’t have to feel guilty anymore! Below are reasons why we think it's okay to stay hooked on the stuff.

1. CANCER
According to the Harvard Health Publications of Harvard Medical School, studies have shown that those who drink coffee are 50 percent less likely to suffer from cancer. Most specifically studied were breast, rectal and colon cancers.

2. PARKINSON'S DISEASE
A study done over 30 years shows that those who drink coffee have a much lower chance of contacting Parkinson’s Disease.

3.  ANTIOXIDANTS
That’s right, coffee is actually a natural antioxidant source. Antioxidants help to keep the blood clean, thus possibly helping to prevent high blood pressure and heart disease. But remember to drink coffee in moderation; too much coffee, and caffeine, is not good for your health.

4.  CIRRHOSIS OF LIVER
Cirrhosis of the liver is a common ailment among alcoholics, though others can suffer from it too. Fortunately, several studies have shown that those who drink coffee regularly are 80 percent less likely to develop cirrhosis of the liver. Nothing wrong with that.

5. LOSING WEIGHT
Coffee really can get you doing in the morning. In fact, it boosts your metabolism which can also help to burn off calories. That combined with the fact coffee is naturally low in calories, makes coffee a prime drink for losing weight. Just keep in mind it’s all the sugars and creams added to coffee that can make it fattening.

6.  ASTHMA
Medicines for asthma almost always contain high does of caffeine because caffeine helps with the symptoms of asthma. So what’s more natural than coffee for intaking some caffeine?

7. NATURAL DIURETIC
Need to shed a little water weight? If so, then you should try drinking coffee. Not only is coffee a natural diuretic, but it also naturally cleanses the stomach as it passes through. Beware, however, because this is not true for everyone; some people have shown to have upset stomachs after drinking coffee. So just try a little and see how your body reacts to it.

8. GALL STONES
Coffee apparently lowers the levels of cholesterol in stomach bile, thus helping to prevent the body from building up gall stones. Studies have shown this works best for those who drink lots of coffee.

9. EXERCISE
Coffee is even good for exercise. No, it won’t give you supper muscles, but the caffeine in coffee gives your body some extra energy, which can allow you to run or workout all that much longer, and possibly harder. As always, beware ingesting too much caffeine.

In addition to this Coffee lowers risk of Diabetes Mellitus II, gud for teeth, improves short term memory..and many more..

therefore, DRINK ONE OR TWO CUPS OF COFFEE EVERYDAY, AND KEEP THE DOCTOR AWAY..

Knowledge / Resume Readers
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:33:20 PM »
Today I wud like to write about something related to human resources..

Few facts about Resume Readers..
First and foremost thing about resume is that Resume should not be come up with idea that why u need this job  but it should refelect why company needs u..
Secondly, u shud be well aware what kind of qualification is required for that specific job so ur resume shud not be underqualified or over qualified ..yes, even overexaggeration of ur qualification and experience makes company insecure about ur future interest in continuing with company becoz everybody want u for long time and even Managers dont want u to acquire their position so ur resume and interview shud be fully oriented towards that specific job which u have applied for..:)

Now few universal facts about resume readers..

1. Resume readers are some of the smartest and most skeptical readers in the world. They know that at least half of what they read consists of lies, exaggerations, half-truths, and semantic and formatting tricks.

2. Therefore, the typical resume reader is looking for a quick and convincing reason to throw yours out. Some will even discard it if they don’t like the envelope or the way the email looks. And they’re unwilling to open up a zip file. You know how annoying it is to get an email that requires you to open up several files; for the resume reader, it’s triply annoying.

3. They are unimpressed by the latest resume fad. For a long time, it was (and largely still is) using strong verbs. Since a verb is an action word, we think readers will be impressed by lots of great verbs. They’re not. Another big craze is numbers. Some experts say that you’ve got to have lots of quantitative data in your resume, or no one will take you seriously.

4. Most readers know that their company is in no hurry to hire. Even if they are interested in you, they will take their time responding. They are not interested in calling you back right away, even if they like your resume.so dont annoy them inquiring again and agian abt ur resume.

5.They are not interested in your personal objectives for your life and your career.
They are only interested in how you can help their company solve its problems and achieve its goals—that’s why they hire. But they are totally unaware of your unique strengths and value that you can potentially bring to the organization. That’s because in most resumes, the person’s unique strengths and potential value are buried somewhere in the middle of the resume and not written for a skimmer/reader.

So, next time whenever ur writing ur resume try to keep these points in mind..try to modify ur resume according to each job's specific requirements..:)

Thanks for reading.:)

News Khabran / Indian-origin scientist has solution for oil spill
« on: June 15, 2010, 08:45:50 PM »

As BP struggles to contain the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, an Indian-origin scientist from Texas University has created a special cotton fabric that can clean up crude oil up to 40 times its weight and help in cleaning efforts.

Seshadri Ramkumar, associate professor of the Texas Tech Institute of Environmental and Human Health, has created a non- oven environment-friendly cotton carbon absorbent wipes, Fibertect."Cotton fibre contains 0.5 per cent wax, which enables it to soak up 40 times its weight," Ramkumar said.

New opportunities for cotton are always good news for producers, especially if it will help them sell low-quality cotton, said Shawn Wade, director of communications for Plains Cotton Growers.

What makes Fibertect different from other cotton absorption technologies, however, is its combination with carbon.

It is a three-layer design consisting of a top and bottom layer of cotton to absorb oil and a middle layer of carbon that absorbs hydrocarbons and harmful carcinogenic vapours released from the oil.

"The natural wax on the cotton helps to hold the oil together. So, wax has affinity towards oil, and then the carbon has affinity towards vapour, it holds the vapour." Because Fibertect is all- atural, unlike synthetic plastic booms previously used to clean oil spills, it is 100 per cent biodegradable and one sheet can be wrung and reused up to five times.

"Corexit EC9500A" , dispersants used by BP till now is itself  toxic, is that it simply breaks down the oil into tiny particles which remain in the water and can be harmful to marine life and humans.

The potential benefits of Dr Ramkumar's research stretch far beyond helping preserve the environment from natural and man- ade disasters and raising Texas Tech's reputation in the higher education community nationally and internationally.

but BP has not taken any decision about use of cotton yet..

News Khabran / Sun Storm Possibility in 2013
« on: June 11, 2010, 12:27:16 AM »
                                     Earth May 2013

Now NASA has come up with an awesome new way the earth might get destroyed. If we will recover from 2012 predictions, earthquakes, volcanoes any other oil spills there is one more bad news here..possibilities of Earth total balck out in May 2013..

In 1859, a geomagnetic storm sparked by a huge solar flare swept over the Earth. Telegraph wires shorted out and set houses on fire. A brilliant aurora was seen in Hawaii—so bright that "people could read newspapers by [its] red and green glow." Scientists predict that in May 2013, the sun's solar cycle will peak at about the same level as in 1859.

This is bad news for anyone who likes electronic things. As Fisher says, "Our technological society has developed an unprecedented sensitivity to solar storms." That's because today we're so dependent on technology hooked up to satellites, which can be disabled or destroyed by huge waves of charged particles spit out by the sun during a solar storm: GPS, cell phones—even credit card transactions use a satellite.

So what would happen? Will there be a massive Earth blackout in 2013? But dont worry.. we’re thinking positive that our scientists will eventually find a way to protect our planet for this impending end of the world. There is technology to put satellites in ‘safe mode’ and disconnect transformers to protect them from destructive electrical surges.

The task of accurately forecasting a solar storm lies with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the US.So the collaberation of NASA and NOAA will play important role in avoinding this disaster..

Thanks..

I wud like to add more.. So today will start with

Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi (CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF PEPSICO)

Indra Nooyi was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She completed her schooling from Holy Angels AIHSS, Chennai. She received a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Madras Christian College in 1974 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 1976.

Nooyi joined PepsiCo in 1994 and was named president and CFO in 2001. Nooyi has directed the company's global strategy for more than a decade and led PepsiCo's restructuring, including the 1997 divestiture of its restaurants into Tricon, now known as Yum! Brands. Nooyi also took the lead in the acquisition of Tropicana in 1998,and merger with Quaker Oats Company, which also brought Gatorade to PepsiCo. Another Proud Moment For India.

Anamika Veeramani, 14, won the celebrated competition Friday by correctly spelling the word "stromuhr."  The Indian-American girl from the central state of Ohio will receive more than $40,000 in cash and prizes.

Stromuhr is listed in few standard English dictionaries, and Veeramani was not required to know its definition in order to win.  A stromuhr is a medical instrument used to measure the flow of blood.

Anamika kept a serious expression all the way through the competition, until she finally cracked a smile when she received her trophy.  She is the third Indian-American in a row to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Anamika advanced to the final round after correctly spelling a word, "juvia," which eliminated her last three rivals.  A juvia is a Brazil nut.

With the spelling bee receiving prime-time coverage on American television, the competition has taken on some new entertaining features.  Words have been presented in humorous sentences, like, "The phillumenist had a hard time obtaining fire insurance on his storage unit."

A phillumenist is a person who collects matchbooks
