PRESS RELEASE

The much anticipated latest addition to the revolutionary Shaheedi series is now set for its customary annual release. The Immortal Productions team have delayed the release until October for a special purpose.

In October this year, Sikhs across the globe will be celebrating one of the most momentous milestones since the 300th anniversary of the Khalsa in 1999. Guru Gobind Singh Jee completed the chain of human Guruship and endowed the spiritual throne to the Holy Guru Granth Sahib Jee in October 1708. 299 years later, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee has been reigning as the everlasting King of the Sikhs. This has served as the inspiration for the latest IP offering.

The tercentenary celebration of the Guruship of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee will be undertaken on a massive scale across the globe in October 2008. Therefore, it has been decided that it would be fitting if the album was released to coincide with these celebrations. However, it is vital to remember that the CD therefore will be available exclusively online.

Inspiring vocals, haunting music and spine tingling lyrics return to take us on a historic and rousing journey. A journey that eulogises Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee in an era where there exists hundreds of fakes and pretenders, who’s sole aim is to demolish the unity of the Sikhs by severing their faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Traditional Punjabi Dhad, Sarangi and Kaveeshar fused with contemporary music pay a tribute to our beloved Guru.

Also in celebration of this anniversary, Immortal Productions are releasing a special dual CD format. The second CD contains a unique discourse in English on the importance of Guru Jee in our Daily lives. This format contributes to the ethos of Immortal Productions to break through language and cultural barriers and inspire all Sikhs with their glorious religious heritage.

Find out more about the latest album online at www.shaheedi.com. The new hoodies and t-shirts have been produced and are also available online, so be sure to get yours while stocks last!

The CD is to be officially launched on the 13th November, 7pm at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Sedgley Street, Wolverhampton. Alternatively you can pre order your copy from the Boss Stall at www.boss-stall.com.

Outfit your humble PC for world domination

Extreme computer "case modding" community has some truly talented designers, who are as passionate about their PC cases, as MI6 wizards were about James Bond killer gadgets. In some cases (pun intended), the end product has truly radical looks and some wicked innards ready to unleash a gamer's fury upon the world...

Here is an update of what's going on in Ukraine, for example:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Punjabi movie, Sat Sri Akal, commemorates the occasion of 300th anniversary of Gurta GurGaddi Diwas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This Cinemascope film project with digital Dolby sound is a step towards propagating a way of life impregnated with rich heritage of Punjabi culture, moral values, traditions and Sikh tenets, will be released on Oct 17, 2008.

Kanwal Kohli, Vice President, Frankfinn Music said, "The movie revolves around love, traditional values, sentiments, and colossal faith towards the Almighty God. In essence, Sat Sri Akal is a decent love story between two divergent personas -- a promising, brilliant and well brought-up simple boy from religious & respectable background, with a beautiful ultra-modern girl hailing from a family of an army officer. Passing through youthful college life, humorous situations, pleasant moments, their courtship suddenly becomes the victim of conspiracy of some ones jealous to them. Based on true happenings, the story of the movie is live account of their unshakable belief in Waheguru God even when all the doors around the world were closed for them."

Particularly, it tends to inculcate immense belief towards Sri Guru Granth Saheb Ji and the Gurbani enshrined within. For the first time, the "true to life" ambiance of pilgrimage places like Sri Harmandar Saheb (Amritsar), Sri Hazur Saheb (Nanded) and Sri Bangla Sahib (Delhi) would be shown on 35 mm format.

Besides a good and captivating story, the Punjabi folk, good humour, romance—sans obscenity—picturesque locales, have been imparted tremendous importance in the film. It has a story splendidly told amongst heart rendering Gurbani shabads sung by legends and foot-tapping songs. Music, a spell-binding and unique fusion of tradition and modernity, with seven Gurbani shabads and three songs, all by celebrity singers and also late Ishmeet Singh, Star Voice of india winner, is one of the major highlights of the film. It tends to enlighten one (Sikh in particular) on how Guru Granth Sahib is practical Guru in this modern world.

So many moments we experienced during the shooting of Sat Sri Akal, wherein we felt the providential help and divine grace. Having failed and tired off finding availability of apt song locations on two occasions, the director used to ask to pack up. The very next moment on each occasion, some body used to approach with excellent options of locales, even much better than we earlier anticipated.

Despite the unparalleled rise of the Sikhs to visibly very high echelons across the world, and their presence at exalted positions in diverse domains, Punjabis and Sikhs especially turbaned ones have been portrayed in a very stereotypical manner on-screen. Verily, Mata Tripta Ji Charitable Trust has joined hands with Frankfinn Entertainment Pvt Ltd to produce the current movie venture Sat Sri Akal—to uphold the image of turbaned Sikhs. That's why we have selected turbaned Manpreet Singh in the male lead, and turbaned Manmeet Singh in a very vital role. Arun Bali kept his beard and hair unshorn for nearly a year to don the true look of a Sikh gentleman. The movie unveils a true account of "what Sikhs are" and "what is ought to be Sikh way of life".

Gone are the days, when Sikhs used to be idolized as the symbols of valor, honesty, truthfulness, integrity, dignity, self-respect, hospitality, creativity, culture, and art. Haplessly, today they are being portrayed as jocular, drunkard, ruthless, flamboyant, unrefined and rustic kind of people, that too mostly drivers.

Movie releasing on 17th Oct.. Do watch it as it is made by sangat for the sangat...

News Khabran / MPs bring Punjabi feel to Canadian Parliament

MPs bring Punjabi feel to Canadian Parliament
Thu, October 23 2008

It is balle-balle time for over half a million Punjabis in Canada as all nine Indian-Canadian MPs voted into office in the recent election are of Punjabi origin.

The new parliament now has three turbaned Sikh MPs as Tim Uppal of the Conservative Party joins Gurbax Malhi and Navdeep Bains of the opposition Liberal Party in the 308-member House of Commons.

Remarkably, there are only 13 Punjabis in the Lok Sabha, India’s 545-member Lower House, or House of the People.
Uppal, a 34-year-old Canadian-born property investor, was elected as a first-time MP in Edmonton Sherwood Park.
Another first-time Punjabi MP is Devinder Shory (Calgary Northeast), a Calgary lawyer who previously tried his luck provincially.

Malhi was the first turbaned Sikh to become an MP in Canada in 1993, He was re-elected for the sixth time. "The secret of my success are my diverse constituents -- 50 per cent of whom are white. I listen to them, I am where they want me to be and I raise their concerns in parliament," Malhi said.
SAP_Feature Page_Sukh Dhaliwal copyHappy with the election of another turbaned Sikh, Malhi said: "It is good to have more of our people in positions of importance. Tim Uppal’s election is good news for us. He will help spread the message about who we are."

Deepak Obhrai, a parliamentary secretary in the last government, recorded his fifth victory in Calgary East. Chandigarh-educated Obhrai is expected to be promoted when Prime Minister Stephen Harper announces his new team. "It is up the prime minister to decide. I am not sure about anything because there are many contenders," he said.
Canada’s first Indian-origin MP, Nina Grewal, was elected for the third time from Fleetwood-Port Kells in B.C., as was fellow Punjabi Ruby Dhalla from Brampton-Springdale on the outskirts of Toronto.
Navdeep Bains retained Mississauga Brampton South and Sukh Dhaliwal kept Newton-North Delta for the Liberal Party.

Former Canadian health minister Ujjal Dosanjh scraped out a win by only 779 votes in Vancouver South over Conservative Wai Young.

"We (Punjabis) are more than half a million among 33 million Canadians. To have nine Punjabi-origin MPs in the 308-member parliament is our big achievement," said community leader Balwant Sanghera.
