I came across this article while on Democraticsunderground.com . (#OBAMA2012! :superhappy:)
It's sad to see such religious intolerance in this day of age.
Basically the mayor of Garrett, Indiana.. Named Tonya Hoeffel.. Walked into a Punjabi man's convienence store, and she saw some informational pamphlets about the Sikh religion. (Keep in mind this was less then a month after The Oak Creek Gurudwara Massacre). She read through the pamphlets and then WALKED TOWARDS THE TRASH BIN AND THREW THEM AWAY. When Kulwinder Singh, the owner, asked her why she did that.. she replied that 'It was against my Belief. It's against Christianity'.
She has since apologized, and Singh has accepted the apology.
What do you think? Does any official have a right to walk onto SOMEONE's property and do that? Should she be fired/punished for this?
I don't think she should be charged with a crime. She should just live with the fact that she is ignorant and intolerant to other religions.
Isn't that, after all.. What this country is based off of? Religious freedom? Why can't we co-exist in this country? Why is there a double standard regarding Politicians who claim they fight for freedom and religion?
here's a link to the story: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/simran-jeet-singh/mayor-tonya-hoeffels-act-_b_1871646.html

In 2011, the violence in the Middle East has taken quite a leap. There has been revolutions in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen etc. and there has been a failed attempt to take over Syria which is leading to the deaths of 100s of Syrians each day , in the hands of the Prime Minister. Osama Bin Laden was caught and killed in May, and the Taliban promises retaliation, with India being a likely target. Tuhada ki khyaal aa.. Jo othe sarkaar kardi apne lokhan naal, galat aa ke sahi? Do you think this revolution could spread south To Afghanistan, Pakistan, and even our India? Do you live in fear of terrorist attacks, since they are becoming more advanced by the day? :wait:

Kuldeep Manak (15/11/1949-30/11/2011 Legendary Punjabi singer Kuldeep Manak has died today after a short battle with pneumonia, it has been reported. The renowned singer had just celebrated his 62nd birthday on November 15th. Ustad Kuldeep Manak had been suffering from kidney problems for some time, but was admitted to hospital in Ludhiana in the Punjab last week and was reportedly diagnosed with pneumonia. The news was reported on BizAsia.co.uk this morning, and the singer’s Wikipedia page also states that Kuldeep Manak passed away on November 30th 2011, however there is yet to be any official word from the family or Kuldeep’s management to confirm the news of his passing. Ustad Kuldeep Manak’s illustrious career in music began when the 17-year-old was chosen to sing alongside famed vocalist Seema in 1968. This proved to be Kuldeep’s lucky break and he went on to forge a successful career in the music industry racking up hit singles and albums and collaborating with other artists. During the bhangra star’s heyday in the 1980’s and 1990’s be developed a reputation for singing the traditional Punjabi genre of music known as Kaliyan. Despite being in his 60’s, Ustad Kuldeep Manak’s desire to sing never faded and his most recent project saw him collaborate with established bhangra artist, Jazzy B on his new album Maharajas. News of Kuldeep Manak’s sad demise is still filtering though to the Asian music world, however we anticipate the death of the legendary singer will have a huge impact on the Punjabi music industry as Manak’s talent inspired a generation of new artists.source: bhangra.org http://www.bhangra.org/kuldeep-manak-has-died-after-battling-pneumonia/327001/Personally, I am so shocked by this news. Kuldeep Manak was one of my favorite singers of all time. His music had emphasis and emotion not like the music now a days. This is a huge blow to everyone but he will live on in our hearts as he is now in heaven and not suffering from any pain or illness. God bless his family and his son, hopefully he can carry his father's legacy. <3
