I came across this article while on Democraticsunderground.com . (#OBAMA2012! :superhappy:)

It's sad to see such religious intolerance in this day of age.

Basically the mayor of Garrett, Indiana.. Named Tonya Hoeffel.. Walked into a Punjabi man's convienence store, and she saw some informational pamphlets about the Sikh religion. (Keep in mind  this was less then a month after The Oak Creek Gurudwara Massacre). She read through the pamphlets and then WALKED TOWARDS THE TRASH BIN AND THREW THEM AWAY. When Kulwinder Singh, the owner, asked her why she did that.. she replied that 'It was against my Belief. It's against Christianity'.

She has since apologized, and Singh has accepted the apology.

What do you think? Does any official have a right to walk onto SOMEONE's property and do that? Should she be fired/punished for this?

I don't think she should be charged with a crime. She should just live with the fact that she is ignorant and intolerant to other religions.

Isn't that, after all.. What this country is based off of? Religious freedom? Why can't we co-exist in this country? Why is there a double standard regarding Politicians who claim they fight for freedom and religion?

According to her son, She wouldn't leave without bowing down to Guru Granth Sahib Ji. As She was doing that, she was shot in the back and killed.

I'm so disgusted by these people. They can't back their facts and they can't accept that a white man went to a Sikh temple and murdered people because of their religion and beliefs.

If you are in the Near San Francisco/San Jose area, please make time out to attend and honor and pray for the victims of this senseless tragedy. Everyone is welcome.

President Barack Obama's Statement on shooting:

"Michelle and I were deeply saddened to learn of the shooting that tragically took so many lives in Wisconsin. At this difficult time, the people of Oak Creek must know that the American people have them in our thoughts and prayers, and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who were killed and wounded. My administration will provide whatever support is necessary to the officials who are responding to this tragic shooting and moving forward with an investigation. As we mourn this loss which took place at a house of worship, we are reminded how much our country has been enriched by Sikhs, who are a part of our broader American family."

Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney's statement on shooting:

"Ann and I extend our thoughts and prayers to the victims of today's shooting in Wisconsin. This was a senseless act of violence and a tragedy that should never befall any house of worship. Our hearts are with the victims, their families and the entire Oak Creek Sikh community. We join Americans everywhere in mourning those who lost their lives and in prayer for healing in the difficult days ahead."
