Afzal Guru, the main accused in the December 13, 2001 terror strike on the Parliament, was hanged today morning in Delhi's Tihar Jail. Television and other media reports quoted the Union Home Ministry as confirming the hanging of Guru this morning. Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was quoted by a news agency as saying that Afzal Guru was hanged inside the Tihar Jail between 7.30 a.m. and 8 a.m. this morning. Earlier reports said his mercy plea had been rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee. In the wake of his hanging, curfew has been imposed in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir in anticipation of protests. The army is on high-alert in the state.

News Khabran / Young Delhi gangrape beast a minor

The youngster described as the most brutal of the six accused in the horrific Delhi gang rape and murder case is likely to get away with the mildest punishment - three years in a reform home.
A juvenile justice board Monday accepted his school certificate and declared him juvenile, which means if found guilty, he will spend three years in a reformatory. The victim's family has expressed shock over the order and said they will challenge it.Merely a school certificate shouldn't have decided he was under 18, said the father of the 23-year-old physiotherapist who died of her injuries a month ago.
"We will move court, do whatever it takes to ensure that the accused goes through a bone test and is tried as an adult. All the accused must be hanged," he said.
The other five suspects, charged with gang rape, murder and abduction, face the possibility of death penalty. Their case is being heard by a fast-track court.

World's Smallest Adults Meet For The First Time - Guinness World Records

Jyoti, from Nagpur India, took the title of Shortest Living Woman when she reached the age of 18 in December last year.
She has a form of Dwarfism called Achondroplasia and won't grow any taller than her current height. Due to her size, she has to have clothes and jewellery specially made. She sleeps in a tiny bed and uses special plates and cutlery to eat. She loves fashion and make-up and is currently pursuing her dream of becoming successful actress in the movie business. She has already starred in a number of Indian films.

In February this year, Chandra Bahadur Dangi from Nepal made headlines across the globe when he was crowned the world's Shortest Man, standing at 54.6 cm (21.5 in). His size also meant that he inherited the title of Shortest Man in history, breaking the previous record of India's Gul Mohammed (1957-97) who was 57 cm (22.5 in) tall.
Chandra is 72 years old and weighs 14.5 kg (31 lb 15 oz). Until the recent record announcement, he had spent his entire life in the remote Nepalese mountain village of Rhimkholi, about 250 miles west of Kathmandu.
