Nepal earthquake prayer for nepal
« on: April 27, 2015, 08:18:29 PM »

ੴ Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sareyan Nu ੴ

nine out of 10 Nepalese troops are said to be involved in search and rescue operations, as the country pleads for more foreign aid to deal with a massive earthquake that killed 4,000 people.
Almost the entire army and police has joined the quake effort, officials say.
China, India, the UK and US are among those sending aid from abroad. Nepal says it needs everything from blankets and helicopters to doctors and drivers.
Some 200 climbers stranded by the quake on Mount Everest are being rescued.
About 60 of the climbers had been brought to safety by helicopters on Monday, according to Tulsi Gautam, the chief of Nepal's tourism agency.
He told the BBC that helicopters were only ferrying two people at a time because of the risk of flying at such a high altitude. The climbers had been unable to leave the mountain because of avalanches triggered by the tremors.
The quake, which struck on Saturday, is now known to have injured at least 7,000 people. Vast tent cities have sprung up in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, for those displaced or afraid to return to their homes.
Several aftershocks have been reported - the latest on Monday night. Across the country, thousands are camping outside for the third night. There are shortages of water, food and electricity, and fears of outbreaks of disease.

URDWARAS HAVE STARTED SENDING AID AND LANGAR TO NEPAL
NEWS - 21 TRUCKS carrying RELIEF material such as mineral water and food have left for Nepal from Uttar Pradesh, India. The material will be distributed among quake victims. One truck will be carrying FIRST-AID. Teams of doctors will also be reaching there by evening," said Rajendra Singh in Lucknow.

Flagging off a fleet of 3 TRUCKS carrying relief material and packaged food from 'LANGAR' (community kitchen) at the Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib, Delhi, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK said they will be dispatching DAILY 25,000 FOOD PACKETS for the earthquake victims in Nepal from Sunday (yesterday) onwards.

The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) decided to send 100,000 FOOD PACKETS made from Guru Ram Das Langar (community kitchen volunteers) in Sri Darbar Sahib (GOLDEN TEMPLE) AMRITSAR, Punjab, India to the earthquake affected people of Nepal. On direction of the SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar, the food is being prepared at the langar hall by the Sikh Sangat (Sikh congregation volunteers).

"We will continue to send food packets as long as these are needed in Nepal by the earthquake victims," said GK. The food packets would contain four to five chapatis, dry vegetable cooked in 'desi ghee' and pickle wrapped in silver foil, said GK.

The food packets would be sent to Nepal with help of the AIR FORCE. The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister said he had called on Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in the morning to provide them maximum space in the India Air Force (IAF) planes so that FOOD PACKAGES, PACKET FOOD, and WATER along with other RELIEF MATERIAL ,will be served as soon as possible.

In ADDITION, a team had flown to Nepal to oversee the arrangements for preparation and to serve langar while COOKS along with REQUIRED VOLUNTEERS and MACHINERY would reach SOON to PREPARE FRESH HOT FOOD over THERE. He said as per the arrangements envisioned by SGPC and DSGMC fresh langar would initially be prepared for more than 10,000 VICTIMS DAILY.

Initially they will be serving langars in Kathmandu and the same will be REPLICATED in OTHER affected AREAS after the assessment teams reach there.

Meanwhile, the IAF would be requested to make arrangements to AIRLIFTS 10 TONS of additional RAW MATERIAL to Kathmandu for PREPARATION of fresh langar. 20 volunteers and about the same number of cooks would also be AIRLIFTED to Kathmandu to operationalise the ongoing langar.

President of Guru Nanak Sikh Sangat (Kathmandu) Pritam Singh said that along with help of the SGPC, DSGPC, local Sikhs have also ALREADY STARTED langars (free community meals) for people of all backgrounds. “We have made arrangements for hot langar to 500-600 people every day. We are hoping that some provisions sent by the SGPC and other Sikh organizations would reach here soon so we can all work together to EXPAND SERVING THOSE IN NEED”.
