if the world was a top spinning
round and round,
out of control,
a mother's wise words
would be the hand that stopped it.
and all the tumbles tears messes scrapes
are a faded sepia memento of yesterday,
shot putted out of sight out of mind
by my mother,
the hurricane typhoon earthquake wonder woman.
she is the earth, the sky, the stars, the sun.
destruction and creation and anger and joy,
she stands tall through the ages.
i stand tall as her child,
her baby,
her darling.

"when you grow up,
you will change the world,"
said my mother.
