I believe mathematics were invented.
I feel its more like a language. When it got difficult to describe the world around us using just words, it became necessary to create a foundation language and framework that allowed knowledge to be transferred through time and from person to person with very little room for interpretation.
Lets not reduce mathematics to chance and leave room for poets and republicans to hijack mathematics. They'll just make it the next generations creationism vs evolution debate. It is nice spin though, lets just hope people don't dwell on it for too much time. (That would be unfortunate.)

One, I cannot believe that I'm such a horrible procrastinator that I actually read the philosophical thoughts behind mathematics to avoid studying for medical physics.
Two, I also have problems with limits going to infinity but not because I don't accept the concept, but because I down right hate them.. :wow:
Three, I have the non-platonic view, mathematics was invented to benefit and advance the fields of astronomy, engineering, physics, ect.
