Lok Virsa Pehchaan / Miss Pooja may break Surinder Kaur’s record« on: September 07, 2011, 07:46:58 PM »New Punjabi singing sensation Miss Pooja. Born in Rajpura in Patiala district on April 12, 1979, this thirty two year old singer is basically well trained in classical music. Her original name is Gurinder Kaur Kainth. She took training and grooming in classical music under Ustad Kesar Nand Kesar, followed by more advanced continuing education under Mohinder Singh Nagina. It appears that Miss Pooja did a lot of “Riyaz” during her formative years. For two years Gurinder Kaur Kainth was a teacher of music too, which exercise also helped her tremendously. Surprisingly Miss Pooja does not appear during the weddings and social occasions, especially in India. She refuses to hold an “Akhara” in the villages in India. But she gladly and wholeheartedly does lots of live entertainment shows abroad, where she makes a lot of money. She is always a big hit in America and Canada. It appears that she is very intelligent, she makes her decisions very carefully and once she decides to take a plunge, she does it totally unhesitatingly. All her decisions are right on the money. Most of the songs sung by Miss Pooja have been penned by Karamjit Puri of Bhagta Bhai Ka. Miss Pooja has already recorded more than one hundred CDs and videos, mostly in duet format. All these are proving best sellers. She is continuing to churn out song after song. In fact she is proving to be a phenomenon unmatched in the history of Punjabi singing in both Punjabs. Very soon we will all hear that Miss Pooja has broken the record of Late Surinder Kaur as the most recorded Punjabi singer in India. :pagel:  24

The religious Vars included in Guru Granth Sahib contain a slok, a small verse complete in itself which is mostly subjective, before each pauri in order to clarify the idea contain in the pauri. Chand (Punjabi: ਛੰਦ) is a word used to refers to a metre of composition used extensively in the Dasam Granth, the second most important holy composition of the Sikhs. There are many types of metre used in the Dasam Granth. The variation is within each line and the line structure may not be governed by the particular chand; it may just influence the way each line needs to be read rather than how each verse. And this Chand word in poetry has been named after CHAND or CHANDA, a goldsmith by profession, was one of the poets and scholars who enjoyed patronage of Guru Gobind Singh. Sakhi Gurudawara Kandh Sahib
GURDWARA KANDH SAHIB derives its name from kachchi kandh, i.e. mud wall, which, according to local tradition, stood on this site at the time of Guru Nanak`s marriage. It is said that as the wedding party arrived and stopped a little distance short of Bhai Mul Chand`s house, waiting for formal reception by the host. Guru Nanak sat down close to the wall. An old lady living near by, pointing to the dilapidated state of the wall, told him to move away from the spot lest the crumbling wall should fall on him. Guru Nanak assured her that there was no cause for alarm. for the wall would stay intact for a long time. 40
