An English school teacher being investigated over his relationship with an eight-year-old girl set fire to himself shortly after sending the child a message saying "I love you".
An inquest into Neil Wilkes' death last week heard the 29-year-old was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with the girl he was tutoring privately, The Bolton News reports.
The body of Wilkes, who was from Derbyshire, was found by a walker near Blue John Cavern, a tourist spot, on October 23 last year.
A petrol can and matches were found near Mr Wilkes, who had suffered burns 90 percent to his body.
At 10pm the night before he was found dead, Mr Wilkes sent a text message to the girl saying "I love you and I always will".
Mr Wilkes' father told Derbyshire Coroner's Court his son had become "something of a father figure" in the girl's family and was included on family outings.
But he was ordered to stay away from them during the investigation and suspended from work.
No charges were ever laid against Mr Wilkes but the family severed contact with him.
Deputy Coroner Nigel Anderson told the inquest by the end of the investigation Mr Wilkes was reaching the end and "had simply had enough".
"There is a clear trigger which led to his depression and ultimately his death," Mr Anderson said.
He recorded a verdict that Mr Wilkes took his own life.

I don't buy into that stuff. The next thing you know is the girl is sexually assaulted.

I was trying to lighten the topic. Nontheless, Wilkes was clearly severly mentally unstable, first to be so called "in love" with a 9 year old girl and second to commit suicide.
