Shocking India or Backward India

Shocking India, not so modern is it?

Is this your India?

The photographs taken by a Chinese tourist, which appeared on the ChinaSmack website in October 2010, suggest India is very much still in the past; in particular when it comes to some of its religious customs. The photos have been in the Chinese media since 2008.

My own view is that the Indian Government needs to step in and begin an educational program designed to drag India into the modern age. The time for dead bodies in the rivers needs to be left in the past.

I WARN YOU, SOME OF THE PHOTOS ARE VERY HARROWING, FROM THE 2OTH PHOTO ONWARDS THEY FOCUS ON THE RIVER GANGES. The more you scroll down the more gruesome they become.

If you have a strong stomach, scroll down through the photos. The first 20 or so are reasonable but after that.............................. well see for your self. Don't say you haven't been warned.

Shocking India, not so modern is it?

GO TO THE LINK BELOW

Persevere and allow the photos to load. The take  few seconds. If a script message comes up press continue and give it about 10 seconds.

A message for the moderators, please do not remove this thread. I have posted it without prejudice or malice. I feel that it will be educational for those who wish to be educated. I realise that some will always bury their heads in the sand and pretend it isn’t so. But the photographs do show a part of India which is stuck firmly in the past and needs to change rapidly even if it is only in the interest of hygiene and disease prevention. Most Non Resident Indians never see this side of India.

I offer my thanks in advance.

No, the vast majority actually don’t. We Sikhs cremate our dead. Muslims bury their dead and vast amount of Hindus also cremate their dead too. It’s only the backward, poor (maybe) and the ones who believe that this is what they are supposed to do. India is changing for the better but it has a long way to go. They are Hindu.

There's a great difference between classes in India. Either you are really rich or really poor. It's easier to get rich than come out of poverty. So change is there, but not always positive.

And of course, the caste sytem just makes it worse.

Well I havent seen teh pictures te na main dekhaniyaa ... because I will not contribute to teh viewers of wrong India. But I agree that India nuun jiven portray kitta jaanda its very bad ... .

Everyone appreciates and all oscars/awards are given to "slumdog millionaire" and "water" but no visibility/appreciation of todays youth movies like "Rang de basanti".

I believe the outer world likes to see the ancient India ... they are scared of modern age India.

I personally don't think the caste system has that much to do with it. The few states I've been to in India, I've never really noticed a difference between castes.

Well, the caste system is still quite strong in the rural areas of India. But having said that, I suppose in modern India with arival of the information age it might decrease.

Have a read of this report.

I saw all the pictures.. well have seen autopsy many times in hospital so was not a big deal :P

Baki, I agree with Titlee, Why these foreigners are always interested to advertise of this dirty image of India?..
Menu yaad aa ah Jado SlumDog Millionaire ayee c, one of my friend asked me. " Is India so dirty n poor"? fer mein ohnu vekhyea Punjab diya pics mein kiha jinne vich sada ik ghar hunda, onne vich ithe 4 hunde ne :hehe:

Well, I agree that Our Ganga River is getting polluted but these are many funds n plans for purification of River but just in papers not practically.. so again Corruption of India is to blame here..

For education of local people, India is getting educated n there are foundations who r working to educate people..

So Don't worry guyz, its not so bad.. Hope for the Best!!!

Challo some factors to prove that Why Our Ganga River is Sacred??

According to various studies on the water of the Ganges, it is known that the river water are:
Nature antibacterial
In 1896, E. Hanbury Hankin (an expert in Physics from the UK) after testing the purity of the water of the Ganges, he reported a written report in one paper that was published in the French journal Annales de IInstitut Pasteur, that turned out to bacteria Vibrio cholerae causes cholera disease when included in water from the river Ganges, the bacteria will die within a three-hour course …! This is very surprising if compared with the bacteria entered the water ‘normal’ bacteria will die within 48 hours.

Anti-putrefication
C.E. Nelson, an expert on other British Physics, noted that the water from the Ganges river proved to be far in excess of fresh water, as evidenced when he mebawa Ganga river water samples to be taken to the British mainland, and for days the water is still in the weird fresh condition and does not smell like regular water that has been for days.

Cleaning the dead!
In 1927, Flix dHerelle, an expert microbiologist who came from France, was amazed when one day he stood on the banks of the Ganges and see the bodies floating freely lacking barriers, free as wind, sway, sway to the rhythm of the water. Known then it is a body of people who died from complications of cholera and dysentery, even more surprising when the corpse was dumped in the river Ganges, the supposed corpse full of bacteria are found free from bacteria. In other words, the Indian Hindu society for thousands of years to believe that the river Ganges also serves purify the body. And that’s why they often just throw the bodies in the river Ganges.

So the only the poor hindus are dumping dead bodies and all that into the river?

This is soo lame...
I saw all the pictures but now am feeling like ..i should not have seen them

I think instead of saying that others dont see good in us,,we should accept our shortcomings
I dnt think India is potrayed bad..rather we refuse to see the negative side of India...
but that is also reality..we cant simply deny it
till the time we wont accept it.... how we will work towards it.

Kudrat Ji, all of the above becomes irrelevant if you simply believe, like I do, that it can not be good if dogs are eating dead bodies on the banks of the Ganga. I believe that it is a practice which should now be stopped.

Oh Come come Kudrat Ji, you can not compare a post mortem in a controlled envoronment such as a hospital to what you see in those photographs, surely not.
