Trying to learn Punjabi :) My pati and his family speak Punjabi, but he's too lazy to teach me :lol:

Do you want to learn Punjabi as in speaking or writing and reading as well.

There are so many threads to learn about Sikhism on this forum

Okay lets start from normal greetings as thats the first word you use to say when you meet up.
As in english we use goodday mate, Morning or any other greetings.
In Sikh religion its "Sat Shri akal"

so next thing after the greeting we ask how are you
in Punjabi its " Kive ho tusi"
[ Kive - how , ho - are , Tusi - you (with respect) ]
another person will respond you with variety of answers like
Theek hai ji ( I am fine ) [ Please note Ji - is the word we use to give respect to someone]
Theek haa ( fine)
Theek haa tusi daso ( fine you tell ) [ daso - tell , tusi - you]

Kidda is short for Kive ho tusi ( Kida is bit informal we say that to our mates , but kive ho tusi we use it for elders as its much respectful)

I can hardly even pronounce my boyfriend's last name

He always laughs at me because it's wrong.. but I can't get how it's wrong..

- And there wasn't supposed to be a difference as I just translated the punjabi to english for you to understand (Like this the same sentence in Punjabi - Main teh thude leyye translate ketta se punjabi wich.. farak dovva linna wich koi nai se)
