why are you taking it personally :loll:

goodness gracious :D

and about the nicknames there are indian nicknames too  anyways :D no hard feelings :D but if i can pronounce a white persons name right the least he/she can do is pronounce mine the way its pronounced :)
:wow: I don't remember making it personal at all. Some names are simply easy to pronounce but there are foreign names that are hard to pronounce, so you shouldn't have such high expectation, you can't blame someone for mispronouncing your name or go on getting defensive and offended about it.

agreed some are hard to pronounce...however try is all it takes :) might pronounce it wrong the first time and get it right the next ...nothing to be offended by :he:

There is no need to have a western name . If you have an indian name then thats all you need. if people cant pronounce it its their problem not ours :) we remain the same.

Its a trend now even in others as well michael want him to be called mike! and jonathan likes to hear JON ! damn its everywhere innit?

Exactly..i love the fact my name is something different and i prefer to be called by full name.. the great thing is everytime someone pronounces it they always ask what it means

anyhow i personally think that just changing your name doesn't give you automatic "fit-in" status :) therefore, why the change? I just don't understand why it is so difficult for us to accept ourselves as who we are and be proud of it :)..

from experience...if someone have mispronounced my name they usually get it right the 2nd or 3rd time the most except those who don't want to give it a shot :pagel:

Me being from the northern part of India might find it difficult to Pronounce a name like Owen or Noah. It not about how to pronounce the name, more about who needs to pronounce the name. :)

When you say someones name wrong you usually feel pretty bad. Its good to be exposed to many cultures and places. I dare you to try and do business with a person in japan while showing them the bottom of your feet. :D

Yeah, i have experienced this too. But i dont have any ego problem with my name, Like some people pronounce very nice, So its cool. But Sometimes I find people really struggling in pronunciation of my name , they ask me, if they have pronounced it right or worng, and When i say no its wrong then they apologizes for that so many times, and i used to feel bad abt it, So What i did , I told them to Call me "KAUR" aa there is no other KAUR at my work place. They asked me about its meaning and i said this means "Princess". They really liked it and They love to call me KAUR (Princess) :loll:

So All good ji..

Yeah all can 1 really do is try to pronounce it right, if you want someone to get it right perfectly, well its going to take a lot of practise and sometimes you might aswell just give it up. At the end of the day, let's face it, western names are a whole lot easier to say.
