How strict are Punjabi parents?

In regards to their children dating a Non-Indian?

My BF told me his parents are pretty nice, they live in India. And obviously they've never met me. Only my BF's cousin and his bro knows about me and they're cool with me and him dating. Just hoping it'll be the same with the parents.
