Why DDT and endosulfan not banned in Punjab India?
« on: May 19, 2011, 03:40:00 PM »

While Indian exports go through tight scrutiny, it seems the checks for what India eats are missing. A recent report, which analysed sample food items from 13 states in 20 laboratories across the country between 2008 and 2009, found pesticide residues either banned or recommended for restricted use, writes Savvy Soumya Misra

DDT, an insecticide, can now be found in breast milk.

I agree, there is great need to ban these insecticides not only in Punjab but in whole of India. I think, most of the countries in the world have already banned use of these chemicals.

Agriculture people should come up with other safe and cost effectives alternatives. WHO should look into this matter in India. Its getting worse.

But what are they using it for?

Insecticides... to kill off insects in the crops (common farming practice).

Well if it's only an insecticide then that shouldn't be a problem.

I just gave you a use case. But they actually cause adverse health conditions. Look at the picture in big to see endosulfan's side effects (if found in food). DDT an insecticide has shown up in bovine milk and female breast milk... how do you feel drinking an insecticide in your food?

That's the answer i was looking for on my previous question.

Doesn't the food containing that taste any different that they can't refused to eat it?
