English Translation:

SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:
O mind, you have no faith, and you have not embraced love for the Celestial Lord. You do not enjoy the sublime taste of the Shabad — what Praises of the Lord will you stubborn-mindedly sing? O Nanak, one’s coming into the world is approved, if, as Gurmukh, he merges into the True Lord. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: The fool does not understand his own self; he annoys others with his speech. His underlying nature does not leave him; separated from the Lord, he is beaten. He has not changed and reformed himself in Fear of the True Guru, so that he might merge in the lap of God. Night and day, his doubts never stop; without the Word of the Shabad, he suffers in pain. Sexual desire, anger and greed are very powerful within; he passes his life constantly entangled in worldly affairs. His feet, hands, eyes and ears are exhausted; his days are numbered, and death is approaching. The True Name does not seem sweet to him — the Name by which the nine treasures are obtained. But if he remains dead while yet alive, then by so dying, he truly lives; thus, he attains liberation. But if he is not blessed with such pre-destined karma, then without this karma, what can he obtain? Meditate on the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, you fool; through the Shabad, you shall obtain salvation and wisdom. O Nanak, he alone finds the True Guru, who eradicates self-conceit from within. || 2 || PAUREE: One whose consciousness is filled with my Lord and Master — why should he feel anxious about anything? The Lord is the Giver of peace, the Lord of all things; why would we turn our faces away from His meditation, for a moment, even for an instant? One who meditates on the Lord obtains all pleasures and comforts; let’s go, each and every day, to sit in the Society of the Saints. All the pain, hunger and disease of the Lord’s servant are eradicated; the bonds of all the humble beings are torn away. By the Lord’s Grace, one becomes the Lord’s devotee; beholding the face of the Lord’s humble devotee, the whole world is saved and carried across. || 4 ||

ਇਹੁ ਤਉ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥ ਆਵਤ ਜਾਵਤ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਹ ਕੋ ਮੂਆ ਨ ਮਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ ਨਹ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੩॥
ਜੋ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੦॥

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ :-

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੰਜ-ਤੱਤੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਸੁਆਸ ਹਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ) ਮਿੱਟੀ (ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ) ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ (ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ) ਜੋਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ ਰਲਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮੁਏ ਨੂੰ) ਰੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਰੋਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹ ਪੱਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਬੇ-ਸ਼ੱਕ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਵੋ, (ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਤਾਂ) ਇਹ ਇਕ ਖੇਡ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।੧। ਰਹਾਉ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਤੇ ਰੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ) ਅਗਾਂਹ (ਸਦਾ) ਬੀਤਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਹੜਾ (ਹੁਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਤੇ) ਰੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਇਥੋਂ ਕੂਚ ਕਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਭਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਬੱਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, (ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ (ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ) ਬਰੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਤਾਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਖੇਡ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਦੇ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਇਥੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਂਞ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਰਨ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਹ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਸਲਾ ਜੁ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਇਆ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੁਸੀ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਮਝ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ, ਇਹ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਸਮਝ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।੪।੧੦।

ENGLISH TRANSLATION :-

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl: The wind merges into the wind. The light blends into the light. The dust becomes one with the dust. What support is there for the one who is lamenting? ||1||
Who has died? O, who has died? O God-realized beings, meet together and consider this. What a wondrous thing has happened! ||1||Pause||
No one knows what happens after death. The one who is lamenting will also arise and depart. Mortal beings are bound by the bonds of doubt and attachment. When life becomes a dream, the blind man babbles and grieves in vain. ||2||
The Creator Lord created this creation. It comes and goes, subject to the Will of the Infinite Lord. No one dies; no one is capable of dying. The soul does not perish; it is imperishable. ||3||
That which is known, does not exist. I am a sacrifice to the one who knows this. Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt. No one dies; no one comes or goes. ||4||10||

ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੇ ਅੰਨੇ ਬੋਲੇ ਸੇ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ॥ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਲਾਏ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ॥੪॥੪॥

ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੰਦ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਪਲ-ਭਰ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ-ਭਰ ਵਿੱਸਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਪੰਜਾਹ ਸਾਲ ਬੀਤ ਗਏ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਤੁਰੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਸਾਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਵਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਵਾਂ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਬੋਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੱਟਦੇ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੇ) ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।੩।
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਹੀ) ਰਸਤੇ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜੋ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸ ਸਕੇ)। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ (ਹੋਰ) ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੪।੪।

ENGLISH TRANSLATION :-

Sorat'h, Third Mehl: Dear Beloved Lord, I praise You continually, as long as there is the breath within my body. If I were to forget You, for a moment, even for an instant, O Lord Master, it would be like fifty years for me. I was always such a fool and an idiot, O Siblings of Destiny, but now, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, my mind is enlightened. ||1||
Dear Lord, You Yourself bestow understanding. Dear Lord, I am forever a sacrifice to You; I am dedicated and devoted to Your Name. ||Pause||
I have died in the Word of the Shabad, and through the Shabad, I am dead while yet alive, O Siblings of Destiny; through the Shabad, I have been liberated. Through the Shabad, my mind and body have been purified, and the Lord has come to dwell within my mind. The Guru is the Giver of the Shabad; my mind is imbued with it, and I remain absorbed in the Lord. ||2||
Those who do not know the Shabad are blind and deaf; why did they even bother to come into the world? They do not obtain the subtle essence of the Lord's elixir; they waste away their lives, and are reincarnated over and over again. The blind, idiotic, self-willed manmukhs are like maggots in manure, and in manure they rot away. ||3||
The Lord Himself creates us, watches over us, and places us on the Path, O Siblings of Destiny; there is no one other than Him. No one can erase that which is pre-ordained, O Siblings of Destiny; whatever the Creator wills, comes to pass. O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the mind; O Siblings of Destiny, there is no other at all. ||4||4||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਪਰਾਏ ਧਨ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਐਬ ਪਾਪ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਭਿਆਨਕ ਜਮ ਭੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ)।੪।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਬੁਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ।੫।੧।੫੫।

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl, Twelfth House:
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
I bow in reverence to the Lord, I bow in reverence. I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, my King. ||Pause||
By great good fortune, one meets the Divine Guru. Millions of sins are erased by serving the Lord. ||1||
One whose mind is imbued with the Lord's lotus feet is not afflicted by the fire of sorrow. ||2||
He crosses over the world-ocean in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. He chants the Name of the Fearless Lord, and is imbued with the Lord's Love. ||3||
One who does not steal the wealth of others, who does not commit evil deeds or sinful acts - the Messenger of Death does not even approach him. ||4||
God Himself quenches the fires of desire. O Nanak, in God's Sanctuary, one is saved. ||5||1||55||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਖਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਬੈਠ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜੀਵਨ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ।੧। ਰਹਾਉ।
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਵੰਨ ਸੁਵੰਨੇ) ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਹਾਥੀ ਰਥਾਂ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ (ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)।੩।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।੪।੨।੫੬।

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl: I am satisfied and satiated, eating the food of Truth. With my mind, body and tongue, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
Life, spiritual life, is in the Lord. Spiritual life consists of chanting the Lord's Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
He is dressed in robes of all sorts, if he sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Glorious Praises, day and night. ||2||
He rides upon elephants, chariots and horses, if he sees the Lord's Path within his own heart. ||3||
Meditating on the Lord's Feet, deep within his mind and body, slave Nanak has found the Lord, the treasure of peace. ||4||2||56||

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਭਇਆ ਦਿਵਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਤਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥੧੨॥
ਝਖੜੁ ਝਾਗੀ ਮੀਹੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੩॥
ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਖਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਲੰਘਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੪॥
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੈ ਮਰਤਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥
ਜਿਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਭ ਕਰੇ ਜਲੁ ਬਰਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਿਗਸਾਈ ॥੧੬॥
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਵਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨਉ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੮॥
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਚੁ ਦੇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧੯॥
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਤੂਹੈ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥੨੦॥
ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾਈ ॥੨੧॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਰ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੨੨॥
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗਾਈ ॥੨੩॥
ਇਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਰਾਈ ॥੨੪॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਤ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਜੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਤ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨੫॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੨੬॥
ਪਾਲਾ ਕਕਰੁ ਵਰਫ ਵਰਸੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ॥੨੭॥

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈ ॥੩੦॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਕੋਈ (ਸੱਜਣ) ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਵੇਚ ਦਿਆਂ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰੇਂ, (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ।੧। ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੨।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਰੱਖੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਭੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ, ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ (ਤੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਮੇਹਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ)।੩।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਜੇ ਲੋੜ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਕੱਟ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ (ਭੀ) ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।੪।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮੈਂ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਝਲਾਂਗਾ, ਪਾਣੀ ਢੋਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਖਾਣ ਲਈ) ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ਉਹੀ (ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਖਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ।੫।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਗਰੀਬ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।੬।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਜੇ ਲੋੜ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਆਂ, ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਾਂ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਕਿਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਪਏ।੭।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਿਠਾਲ ਲਏਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਧਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਧੱਕੇ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ।੮।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਜਗਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਖੇਗਾ, ਤਾਂ (ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਜੇ (ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇਗੀ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।੯।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਕੋਈ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆ ਆਖੇ। ਪਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਸਰਿਆਂ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।੧੦।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।੧੧।
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਮਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੨।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਝੱਖੜ-ਹਨੇਰੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਝੱਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਵਰ੍ਹਦੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ।੧੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਖਾਰਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੰਘ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੪।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਆ ਗਈ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੫।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੬।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ) ਸੱਦਾਂਗਾ।੧੭।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ (-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੮।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧੯।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਸਦਾ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ।੨੦।
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੨੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਿਆਣਪ-ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ। ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨੨।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨੩।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ) ਗਰੀਬ (ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖ।੨੪।
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਝਿੜਕ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਝਿੜਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੈ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ)।੨੫।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।੨੬।
ਪਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕੱਕਰ ਪਏ, ਬਰਫ਼ ਪਏ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨੭।
ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨੮।
ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ) ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨੯।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੩੦।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ)।੩੧।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੩੨।੧।

ENGLISH TRANSLATION :-

Raag Soohee, Ashtapadees, Fourth Mehl, Second House:
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
If only someone would come, and lead me to meet my Darling Beloved; I would sell myself to him. ||1||
I long for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. When the Lord shows Mercy unto me, then I meet the True Guru; I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||
If You will bless me with happiness, then I will worship and adore You. Even in pain, I will meditate on You. ||2||
Even if You give me hunger, I will still feel satisfied; I am joyful, even in the midst of sorrow. ||3||
I would cut my mind and body apart into pieces, and offer them all to You; I would burn myself in fire. ||4||
I wave the fan over You, and carry water for You; whatever You give me, I take. ||5||
Poor Nanak has fallen at the Lord's Door; please, O Lord, unite me with Yourself, by Your Glorious Greatness. ||6||
Taking out my eyes, I place them at Your Feet; after travelling over the entire earth, I have come to understand this. ||7||
If You seat me near You, then I worship and adore You. Even if You beat me and drive me out, I will still meditate on You. ||8||
If people praise me, the praise is Yours. Even if they slander me, I will not leave You. ||9||
If You are on my side, then anyone can say anything. But if I were to forget You, then I would die. ||10||
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to my Guru; falling at His Feet, I surrender to the Saintly Guru. ||11||
Poor Nanak has gone insane, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||12||
Even in violent storms and torrential rain, I go out to catch a glimpse of my Guru. ||13||
Even though the oceans and the salty seas are very vast, the GurSikh will cross over it to get to his Guru. ||14||
Just as the mortal dies without water, so does the Sikh die without the Guru. ||15||
Just as the earth looks beautiful when the rain falls, so does the Sikh blossom forth meeting the Guru. ||16||
I long to be the servant of Your servants; I call upon You reverently in prayer. ||17||
Nanak offers this prayer to the Lord, that he may meet the Guru, and find peace. ||18||
You Yourself are the Guru, and You Yourself are the chaylaa, the disciple; through the Guru, I meditate on You. ||19||
Those who serve You, become You. You preserve the honor of Your servants. ||20||
O Lord, Your devotional worship is a treasure over-flowing. One who loves You, is blessed with it. ||21||
That humble being alone receives it, unto whom You bestow it. All other clever tricks are fruitless. ||22||
Remembering, remembering, remembering my Guru in meditation, my sleeping mind is awakened. ||23||
Poor Nanak begs for this one blessing, that he may become the slave of the slaves of the Lord. ||24||
Even if the Guru rebukes me, He still seems very sweet to me. And if He actually forgives me, that is the Guru's greatness. ||25||
That which Gurmukh speaks is certified and approved. Whatever the self-willed manmukh says is not accepted. ||26||
Even in the cold, the frost and the snow, the GurSikh still goes out to see his Guru. ||27||
All day and night, I gaze upon my Guru; I install the Guru's Feet in my eyes. ||28||
I make so many efforts for the sake of the Guru; only that which pleases the Guru is accepted and approved. ||29||
Night and day, I worship the Guru's Feet in adoration; have Mercy upon me, O my Lord and Master. ||30||
The Guru is Nanak's body and soul; meeting the Guru, he is satisfied and satiated. ||31||
Nanak's God is perfectly permeating and all-pervading. Here and there and everywhere, the Lord of the Universe. ||32||1||

ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦਿ ਲਗੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਖੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ :-

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਜੀਭ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਰਹਾਉ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ (ਪਰਾਏ ਰੂਪ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਉਪਜਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੭।

ENGLISH TRANSLATION :-

Wadahans, Third Mehl:
My tongue is intuitively attracted to the taste of the Lord. My mind is satisfied, meditating on the Name of the Lord. ||1||
Lasting peace is obtained, contemplating the Shabad, the True Word of God. I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||1||Pause||
My eyes are content, lovingly focused on the One Lord. My mind is content, having forsaken the love of duality. ||2||
The frame of my body is at peace, through the Shabad, and the Name of the Lord. The fragrance of the Naam permeates my heart. ||3||
O Nanak, one who has such great destiny written upon his forehead, through the Bani of the Guru's Word, easily and intuitively becomes free of desire. ||4||7||
