ੴ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ੴੴ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ ੴLo v mitro Ah Wraich surname di history mein kuch hor v post karu but kuch time baad let me search HistoryThe original name of this tribe was 'Chang' (Chung) and gave it's name to the Jhang District although they no longer occupy that area.Population distributionThe Wraich population was 38,070 in Amritsar district during the 1911 British Punjab Census. In thePatiala district it was 19,950.Geographic distributionWestern PunjabThe Wraich are mostly found in western Punjab, Pakistan, in the districts of Gujrat and Gujranwala. They are also significant populations in the southern districts of Punjab like Multan and Duniapur. The Wraich in Sargodha are mostly landlords like Atharwraich and they come here from Gujrat and Gujranwala. The Warraich of Faisalabad came from Gujrat in 1905 A.D.Eastern PunjabIn eastern Punjab in India the clan is found in large numbers in the Majha and Malwa regions. Historically they are known as land owners and served in the IndianMythical historyAccording to Sir Lepel Griffin, the tribe migrated to Punjab during the reign of Mohammad of Ghazni and settled in Gujrat, in present day Pakistan.According to legend, a Jat named Wraich had five sons who moved from Chenab to the two cities Gujrat and Gujranwala. Around the tenth century A.D., their descendants moved down to theJhelum River in large numbers. Until the thirteenth-century AD they continued to fight with Gujjartribes. Today the Wraich occupy a very compact area comprising 360 villages in a region calledJatatar. During the period of Feroz Shah Tughlaq, a certain Haria leader of these Wraich Jats converted to Islam and founded a village later named Hariawala after him. ...

According to historians, the Warraich clan are descendants of a clan from the North-Western province of Iqulawri who originated from the rulers of the Great Persian empire. After a war, they settled in Afghanistan, with many choosing to remain in Afghanistan (and in neighbouring areas, such as in Peshawar across the border in modern day Pakistan) who are now mixed in to civilian life. Following this first migration, they then migrated from Afghanistan and settled within the areas of Punjab in 1621 due to the great plague of Iqulawri. The majority are currently spread across the Punjab areas of Asia.
Geographic distribution
