In Punjabi culture as Billu said only situation to get re-marriage is when a guy has his kids to look after the family forces the guy to re-marry someone who can understand.
Dating someone and at the same time having affairs with someone else, its not acceptable in indian community.
If we are talking about back home the real punjabi women get arranged marriages setup for them not like you live with your girlfriend and have a De-facto relationships. Single mothers are not acceptable in Punjab but yeah in western countries and some of the western culture influenced Indian states( Like Delhi and Mumbai).
No two people are same.
Better luck next time. Its always better to know someone before you go start dating
