« on: September 30, 2010, 02:46:04 PM »

  -  The six Sikhs who were arrested in connection to a shooting and brawl at a Vienna Ravidasia temple last year have been sentenced to prison for the murder of self-styled Ravidasia 'Guru', Baba Ramanand.

The Sikhs had held Ramanand and his followers responsible for the violence at the Vienna temple, stating they had purposely shown disrespect to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Sikh Holy Scripture.

The Austrian court sentenced one of the Singhs, Jaspal Singh, 35, to life in prison for murder and two counts of attempted murder, the Austrian Press reported.

Four other Sikh have been charged as accomplices of Jaspal Singh and have received 17 to 18 year prison sentences. The remaining Singh was given six months in prison for attempted coercion.

Those sentanced have been identified as:  Jaspal Singh (35), Satvinder Singh (29), Tasem Singh (46), Sukhvinder Singh (28), Hardeep Singh (33), and Charnjeet Singh (24).

Jaspal Singh's lawyer has indicated that he will appeal the verdict. Appeal by the others is likely to follow.

News Khabran / Fla. pastor will 'not today, not ever' burn Quran
« on: September 11, 2010, 05:26:21 PM »
– Sat Sep 11, 10:24 am ET
NEW YORK – A Florida pastor says his church will "not today, not ever" burn a Quran, even if a mosque is built near ground zero.

Pastor Terry Jones had threatened to burn the Muslim holy book on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks over plans to build an Islamic center near where terrorists brought down the World Trade Center nine years ago.

He flew to New York and appeared on NBC's "Today" show. He says that his Gainesville, Fla., church's goal was "to expose that there is an element of Islam that is very dangerous and very radical."

He tells NBC that "we have definitely accomplished that mission." He says no meeting is planned with the imam leading the center but he hopes one will take place.

A "Burn a Koran Day" banner outside his church has been taken down.

what do you guys think of the entire incident.. was it just a publicity stunt by the pastor??
