you mean why we can't purposely, physically harm ourselves?
There's something called a "fight-or-flight" response which is built into our bodies...mainly it's a surge of certain hormones which effects our behavior. In the case of physical harm, our body goes into the flight stage, signaling back to our brain to stop the behavior at hand. (you can google more on the fight-flight response) In psychological terms, you can also look at this as "negative reinforcement". When you have had negative responses elicited from prevous, similar situations, our mind rapidly processes the previous situation and stops you from being harmed. However, there are always exceptions, where you have the mentally unstable (intensity caries) purposely physcially harming themselves. Then again they are cuuuukooooooo :pagel: Guglo
