News Khabran / Malaysian PM 'touched by spirit of Sikhs'
« on: May 04, 2011, 12:15:19 AM »Appreciating the contributions made by the minority Sikh community in Malaysia towards the development of the country, the government has said that it will allocate three plots of land here to build gurudwaras.
Prime Minister Najib Razak who made the announcement yesterday at the 1Malaysia Vaisakhi Open House said, Sikhs in Malaysia had played a pivotal role in the development of the nation, especially in the past when they defended the country against the Japanese invasion during World War II.
"I was touched by the spirit of the Sikhs, many of whom had entered the police and armed forces then", Najib was quoted as saying by 'New Straits Times' today.
"There are three important values which I can relate to the Sikh community. They are renowned for their courage, loyalty and the ethics of being a hardworking people.
And for that, I thank them for their contributions to the country", he said.
