Gup Shup / Anuptaphobia: The fear of being single forever
« on: June 07, 2016, 03:18:54 AM »

It seems nowadays that anything can turn into phobia. You probably don’t even know how many of them you have, because many of them can seem like normal human emotions or reactions. After all, how many of us are NOT afraid of spiders?

If you call it a phobia it means it can be treated – unlike being a human. Maybe acknowledging that an unsuccessful love life might be a cause of a phobia, will help you see it as something fixable and encourage you change things for the better.

We’d say Anuptaphobia is ironic – it makes you anxious of being single, yet in other cases it gives you the anxiety of marrying someone that eventually leads you to being single! Would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.

The worst part about being afraid of staying single is demeaning yourself and your life; thinking it’s empty without a partner. It makes you miss all the nice things about yourself and your life that you’ve created. What’s even worse is that many people suffering from Anuptaphobia end up in wrong, abusive relationships which they don’t want to end, out of fear.

In some cases they lose their lives never knowing that this fear was just a combination of genetics and brain chemistry.

What might seem as a never ending case of Déjà vu of unlucky relationships, can actually be turned around with a bit of therapy, relaxation techniques and positive NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programing).

But before you diagnose yourself with this, just remember that you are human and it’s OK to be single, as long as it doesn’t overtake your life causing you to have panic attacks. In the end, we all just should believe that there is that someone special, who is just around the corner and worth waiting for.

A US-based risk management and consulting company has put the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in its category of 'Threat Group' and called it "a shadowy, discriminatory group that seeks to establish a Hindu Rashtra, a Hindu Nation."

Terrorism Watch & Warning provides intelligence, research, analysis, watch and warning on international terrorism and domestic terrorism related issues; and is operated by OODA Group LLC that helps clients identify, manage, and respond to global risks and uncertainties while exploring emerging opportunities and developing robust and adaptive strategies for the future.

Although the company had included RSS in its 'Threat Group' in April 2014, the post seems to have been modified after the BJP led government assumed power at the Centre. Apart from the RSS, Terrorism Watch has also put Naxalites, People's Liberation Army (PLA) and Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) among others in the category of 'Threat Group'.

The websites describes: "The RSS is a shadowy, discriminatory group that seeks to establish a Hindu Rashtra, a Hindu Nation. The group is considered the radical ideological parent group of India's ruling Hindu nationalist party - the Indian Peoples Party (BJP). "

"The RSS is a Hindu nationalist movement, a right wing group that was founded in 1925. Their philosophy, called Hindutva, was termed fascist by Communists, and their main demand of the central government was that it stop appeasing Muslims," the description continues , adding, "Hindutva has been translated to mean variously: Hindu pride, patriotism, fundamentalism, revivalism, chauvinism, or fascism. The group self-justifies by 'asserting the natural rights'. "

In its 'Intel analysis,' it further adds, "The RSS was banned in 1948 following the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by an ex-RSS member, Nathuram Godse. The ban was lifted the following year. Since then, the group has gained popularity. It later began the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), widely considered the political arm of the RSS, which now heads the central government of India. "

Describing violence as 'Group Activities' for the RSS, the site further says, "Violence has been a strategy for the Sangh movement. It is often couched as a method of self-defense against minority groups. Hindutva has been clear about the need for violence, particularly communal riots. The Sangh has incited rioting to cause further chasms between religions, and thus a further separation of religions, and to rally the Hindu community around the philosophy of Hindutva. "

The Terrorism Watch & Warning database contains over 1,00,000 Open source intelligence (OSINT) excerpts from 1999 to present on terrorism and security related issues, attack database of over 10,000 attacks, original terrorism analysis, terrorism document repository, Homeland Security Fact Sheets and profiles over 500 Terrorist / Threat Groups.

The Indian Govt has today opened fire and sanctioned the use of water cannons and brute force by Punjab police on thousands of it's own citizens whilst they were peacefully staging a sit-in protest. Sikhs had gathered to protest the lack of police action in a case of the desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the area of Kotakpura Punjab. Disturbingly the Indian Govt has ordered a media blackout in Punjab. Yet still news, images and video footage is emerging on social media of the violence being perpetrated against innocent civilians - three civilian deaths have been reported and hundreds of casualties, with the death toll set to rise as more reports come to light.

This is the most recent episode in an escalation of violence by the Indian Govt against the Sikh minority of India. They have also been torturing and force feeding an octogenarian who- protesting against the illegal detention of prisoners who have long since served their sentences- has been on hunger strike for over 280 days. The Punjab police has been harassing his supporters and illegally detaining prominent Sikh figures who've been peacefully protesting the state's interference in matters concerning the Sikh governing body.

Despite the BBC having large presence in India with many reporters stationed there - it has not picked up this story. There is no mention of this on any of the their news media outlets in India or here in the UK, despite the fact that their express global purpose is to "provide international news broadcasting of the highest quality, enabiling individuals to participate on the global debate on significant international issues ". This is a significant issue for the 20 million Sikhs worldwide. We rely on the BBC as (in their own words) an "independent, objective and honest" news organisation to report on such issues.

Please sign this petition and get the BBC to cover this story and turn the spotlight "the worlds biggest democracy" and the crimes it's committing against it's own

Tech Lounge / Smartphone Battery Myths
« on: October 09, 2015, 02:04:18 AM »

Over just a few years, the batteries in our smartphones have changed a lot. That means those old tips to stretch out your battery life just aren’t as true as they once were, yet we still share them like they’re gospel. Before telling someone to disable Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, let’s shed some light on those old myths.

Batteries used to be stupid. Older batteries would “forget” their full capacity, so they wouldn’t be able to fully charge again. So, you’d have to let a battery discharge all the way to 0% before charging it again. That’s not the case anymore, and it hasn’t been for a long time.

Smartphones today have lithium-ion batteries, which don’t suffer from the memory problems of older nickel cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries. Similarly, lithium-ion batteries count charges differently than older batteries, so you don’t need to worry about discharging it completely. Here’s how Apple explains it http://www.apple.com/batteries/why-lithium-ion/, and while they reference their batteries, the rules apply to any lithium-ion battery:

Charge your Apple lithium-ion battery whenever you want. There’s no need to let it discharge 100% before recharging. Apple lithium-ion batteries work in charge cycles. You complete one charge cycle when you’ve used (discharged) an amount that equals 100% of your battery’s capacity — but not necessarily all from one charge. For instance, you might use 75% of your battery’s capacity one day, then recharge it fully overnight. If you use 25% the next day, you will have discharged a total of 100%, and the two days will add up to one charge cycle. It could take several days to complete a cycle. The capacity of any type of battery will diminish after a certain amount of recharging. With lithium-ion batteries, the capacity diminishes slightly with each complete charge cycle. Apple lithium-ion batteries are designed to hold at least 80% of their original capacity for a high number of charge cycles, which varies depending on the product.

Most manufacturers still suggest you “calibrate” your battery by discharging and recharging it once every one to three months. Since your battery’s overall life diminishes over time, the time you have left on each full charge decreases a little with every full discharge. Essentially, every discharge shortens the battery life just a little bit. Discharging to 0% once a month helps the operating system calibrate the full life cycle of the battery so it knows exactly how much it has diminished over time.

However, more and more batteries have a digital calibration tool built into them. These “smart batteries” supposedly reduce the need to calibrate, though it’s still recommended when your battery behaves oddly. If you see the battery percentage on your phone jump around a lot (like you could have sworn it was fully charged, and now it’s at 20%,) it’s time to calibrate it. You don’t want to do this too often though. It’s actually bad for lithium-ion batteries to be regularly drained all the way to 0%. That counts as a full charge cycle, which in turn decreases the battery’s total life.
