Beauty Fashion LifeStyle / Tie - The Tips & Tricks
« on: January 24, 2010, 06:44:55 PM »
After getting into the habit of wearing ties on a more regular basis, you will probably notice that they somehow seem to "wear off" a little bit. That may be due to improper care or things beyond your reach, for example, getting food or beverages spilled on your favorite tie. That is why I wanted to give you a few suggestions as to how to take care of your tie to make sure that you will be able to wear and preserve it for quite some time to come!

How to Properly Untie Your Tie

A very common mistake a beginner makes when learning how to tie a tie is that once you get that first knot done right, you would never even think about untying your tie at the end of the day. Instead, you would probably prefer to make the loop just big enough to pull your head out and hang the tied tie on a clothes hanger or over the back of a chair (like I usually do ).Unfortunately, that is the most damaging thing you could ever do to your tie. What you would rather want to do is to properly untie your tie.

Paying a little attention is key here, though, as doing the opposite will definitely ruin your tie - rather sooner than later.

Instead of hastily tearing and yanking a tie from your neck, repeat all of the steps you followed to tie your tie but now do so in reverse order! Step #7 becomes #1, step #6 becomes #2 and so on...

While this process might not necessarily save you an extra minute each evening, it will definitely save you your precious tie and your hard-money that you would have to spend on new ties every couple of weeks.

Remember that as with all things precious, it is going the extra mile to make it last, to keep it coming, to keep happening!

"Instead of hastily tearing and yanking to remove your tie from your neck, take the time to repeat all of the steps you followed to tie your tie but now do so in reverse order!"

How to Quickly Get Rid Of Tie Wrinkles

After untying your tie, especially when your tie is made of thick and heavy silk, you will probably notice that there are wrinkles that make it look very worn and used - even though you have only worn that tie for only a couple of hours.

However, there is something you can do to get rid of that problem overnight. Basically, all you do is to wrap the tie around your hand, then put it onto a table or into a drawer and let it rest for a while.
To help you understand, here is what you would do:

1) Hold the narrow end of your tie with your thumb as shown on the picture above, while letting the wide end hang down to the floor.

2) Wrap the wide end around your hand several times.

3) Take the wrapped-up tie and place it on a flat surface.

You will see that after only a few hours all of the wrinkles will be gone and your tie looks as fresh and new as if you had just purchased it at a store!

By the way, wrapping up your ties is also great while on travel to prevent the ties from being damaged in a tightly-packed suitcase.

How to Treat Tie Stains

One of the moments every tie-wearing guy worries about is to get food or beverages spilled on your favorite tie.

That is because chances are 9 out of 10 that that stain permanently ruins your tie as the majority of ties is made of silk, a very unforgiving type of cloth when it comes into contact with coffee, Coke or ketchup!
As silk is a very delicate material, applying stain-removers will only make matters worse. The only thing that I recommend you do is to take your stained tie to your local dry cleaner and ask them for help.

While dry-cleaning will remove the stain in most every case, there is one major downside to it: The shiny look and feel of your tie will be gone, too!

Therefore, really make every effort to protect your tie during meals, e.g., by covering it using a large napkin or removing it if appropriate.

Never treat tie stains with stain-remover! Instead, take the stained tie to your local dry cleaner and let them see to the problem. Keep in mind, though, that while dry-cleaning removes the stain it will also destroy your tie's shiny look and feel.

News Khabran / CIA Reportedly Ordered Blackwater to Murder 9/11 Suspect
« on: January 24, 2010, 05:49:46 PM »

In 2004, the CIA sent a team from the private security firm Blackwater, now Xe, to Hamburg to kill an alleged al Qaeda financier who was investigated for years by German authorities on suspicion of links to al Qaeda, according to a little-highlighted element in a Vanity Fair article to be published this month.

The report cited a source familiar with the program as saying the mission had been kept secret from the German government.

“Among the team’s targets, according to a source familiar with the program, was Mamoun Darkazanli, an al Qaeda financier living in Hamburg who had been on the agency’s radar for years because of his ties to three of the 9/11 hijackers and to operatives convicted of the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa,” writes Vanity Fair’s Adam Ciralsky.

“The CIA team supposedly went in ‘dark,” meaning they did not notify their own station — much less the German government RAW Story: of their presence; they then followed Darkazanli for weeks and worked through the logistics of how and where they would take him down,” reports the magazine.

Washington authorities, however, “chose not to pull the trigger,” it said.

Scientists seeking permission to exhume the remains of Leonardo da Vinci plan to reconstruct his face to discover whether his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, is a disguised self-portrait.

A team from Italy’s National Committee for Cultural Heritage, a leading association of scientists and art historians, has asked to open the tomb in which the Renaissance painter and polymath is believed to lie at Amboise castle, in the Loire valley, where he died in 1519, aged 67.

Giorgio Gruppioni, an anthropologist, said the project could throw new light on Leonardo’s most famous work. “If we manage to find his skull, we could rebuild Leonardo’s face and compare it with the Mona Lisa,” he said.

The identity of the Mona Lisa has been debated for centuries, with speculation ranging from Leonardo’s mother to Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a Florentine merchant.

Gup Shup / NASA astronaut sends first direct tweet from space
« on: January 24, 2010, 09:35:05 AM »

Earlier today, NASA Flight Engineer TJ Creamer sent the first live tweet from outer space, urging earth-bound Twitter users to correspond with the NASA team on the International Space Station. "Hello Twitterverse!" Creamer said in the message. "We r now LIVE tweeting from the International Space Station -- the 1st live tweet from Space! :) More soon, send your ?s."

TJ Creamer

Technically, Creamer isn't the first astronaut to tap into Twitter. Last year, a crew member on the Atlantis shuttle sent messages to NASA Mission Control, which uploaded the short blasts. And in 2008, NASA created a page for the Mars Phoenix Lander. But Creamer is the first to take advantage of a wireless connection on the International Space Station to send a tweet directly from space.

In coming weeks, Creamer will post additional tweets, as will two of his crewmates, ISS Commander Jeff Williams and Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi.

Don’t you think that It is better to have loved and lost than never to have love at all?

So you lost out on something. But didn’t you enjoy it while it lasted?

Anything worthwhile in life involves risk – the risk of failure. Sometimes that risk is too great for people to contemplate. But their lives are surely less if they fail to do so.

By falling in love you risk rejection.

By trying to get a better job you risk rejection.

By trying to get a book published you risk rejection.

By trying to get to the national team for your sport you risk rejection.

But you still try.

And what if you do make that sports team and get to play one game only to be dropped immediately because there is someone better to take your place? Would you rather that you never had the chance to play for the team? Would you still be glad you had the opportunity? Was it worth it just for that short moment?

What about falling in love and then getting dropped very soon after? That hurts, but isn’t it worth it? Aren’t you wiser for the experience? Wasn’t it wonderful while it lasted?

All things pass eventually – good and bad. So in a way you have to let go of everything sooner or later. It’s just that some things change sooner than others. And some things a lot sooner than you would prefer and that can be difficult. But then that’s life so you might as well get use to it.

It’s still worth the risk to try new things – sure, it might not work out – but what if it does, how great would that be!

To do anything in this world worth doing, we must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in, and scramble through as well as we can.

Gup Shup / Is It a Conspiracy? What U Say?
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:35:09 PM »

“Palestinian authorities uncovered Israeli efforts to spread a special kind of gum that contains sexual hormone between Palestinians. The authorities requested laboratory tests on the gum which were conducted in Cairo. Those tests showed that the gum contains progesterone which is responsible for sexual arousal and also prevents pregnancies. Palestinian authorities confiscated 200 tonnes of gum in the city of al-Khalil alone. The Washington Post claimed in report that if it asked a chemistry professor in the Hebrew university to examine the gum. His tests were negative, however the paper also reported that the majority of Palestinians believe the conspiracy. It quoted one Palestinian saying that it was possible to send a space ship to Mars then it is possible to manufacture a ’sexual gum’ it is after all a war.”

Shayari / KISS
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:10:09 PM »
I want to kiss her after kissing her,
And before, and while kissing her,
I am touched with the urge
To kiss her again:
I fear all this kissing will crack my lips open
And I will spill words onto her tongue:
Beautiful words
like "You are the water and jug
And I thirst and I thirst"
But first I shall kiss her and spill
Herds of sweet words
Over the hills of our mouths,
Beautiful words
like "You are the smoke and the salt,
Preserve me, preserve me,"
So she will kiss me and kiss me,
And this -- see? -- this isn't free,
It's bartered from me
With the moist of her lips,
The clip of her tongue as it slips
Into me,
An offer of moisture
For the roots of my tree,
For the tangling roots entangling me
And I want to kiss after kissing her,
And before, and while kissing her,
I am touched with the urge to kiss her again.

News Khabran / 13 Year old boy has Time Machine plan that works .
« on: January 23, 2010, 06:49:27 PM »
Source of My post : CNN iReport,

A 13 year old boy, named Gentill Abdulla, has said that he has a time machine plan that is going to work. I have personally met him and he is an extremely bright boy. Gentill says that his ingenious plans can allow time travel to be possible. He told me: "I have done a lot of research on the areas of black holes, time travel, wormholes, magnetism, light, and most importantly gravity. I have devised an experiment that if done correctly could allow time travel".

Here is the theory:

If you had magnets in front of each other and had one beam of blue light that had been traveling for thousands of years and put that in the middle of these two magnets then turned on lasers on each magnet, and the side they are pointing makes the magnets face each other, and when the magnets are heated have eight smaller magnets on each magnet and make those magnets so that they would repel the big magnet.

Then move all these magnets toward the plastic magnet so it will compress it on all sides so it will become smaller than it's Schwarzschild radius.

After this is done the magnets both should become black holes. Since they are facing each other their gravities will act and join these black holes together. There will still be a singularity but it will be magnetic.

Now you make a device, that I have also made, that will split the singularity into a ring. This device will make a hole in the singularity. Since the string is no longer there, the magnets will expand enough to make the singularity into the ring.

You will know if it works because you will be able to see the other side of the hole from the entrance. Since the beam of light is old and the light beam is what is creating the effect, you will be able to go back to when that beam of light was first made.

So through this it will make a traversable wormhole. The negative energy really won't be negative energy because since the smaller magnets are repelling the singularity, it will push it outward in the opposite way or just rotate the 2 magnets from the beginning so you don't have that problem.

Gup Shup / HALF GREEN, HALF RED, ALL DELICIOUS!
« on: January 22, 2010, 09:38:51 PM »
Ken Morrish of Colaton Raleigh, Devon was astounded when he grew an apple that was half-red and half-green. This genetic mutation is called an "extreme mutation" because the odds of it occurring are literally a million to one. The resulting fruit is known as a chimera in which two different kinds of cells turn into one organism.

It is unlikely that this will be a recurring mutation, but Ken Morrish is going to be on the lookout for another one next year.

Pics / PICTURES OF THE LIVING DEAD
« on: January 22, 2010, 09:19:51 PM »
During Victorian times, when the camera was still seen as a novel oddity, the practice of taking pictures of the recently deceased as a memorial became commonplace.  As time progressed and more people wanted to remember family members who had prematurely departed, it became commonplace to position dead bodies in life-like poses to simulate how these individuals were before they shuffled off their mortal coils.

Pay close attention to these photos.  The bodies are positioned with heavy wire and stands and, in some cases, pupils have been painted on closed eyelids.

The girl in the middle is not alive.  Look at the position of her hands.

Gup Shup / IS THIS WOMAN 130 YEARS OLD?
« on: January 22, 2010, 09:01:44 PM »
Sakhan Dosova's passport says she was born on March 27, 1879: the same year that Thomas Edison invented the light bulb.  If this is true, it would make her 16 years older than the person wildly believed to be the oldest person alive and it would make her six years older than the oldest person ever.

While the folks at the Guinness Book of World Records are trying to confirm her age, Mrs. Dosova has been speaking about her incredible longevity including the fact that she's never taken pills and doesn't like sweets.

Mrs. Dosova has been married twice and had ten children; only three of them - now in their ninties - are still living.  It is believed that she was widowed during World War II.

Gup Shup / You have 12 months left to live, what do you do?
« on: January 22, 2010, 07:59:35 PM »
If you knew for certain that was all you had left, how would you spend it?

You would probably appreciate the people around you more. You’d try to get some quality time in with friends, family. You’d play with your kids more. You’d go to the beach, try bungy jumping, eat raw squid. You’d be hungry for experiences and would try to pack as much into that year as you possibly could.

You probably wouldn’t spend more time at the office, complain about traffic so much, waste time sleeping in, watch so much TV, get  into fights, argue about pointless things. You probably wouldn’t worry so much about keeping a spotlessly clean house, or about what the neighbours think. You would eat more chocolate.

In short you would focus on the things that matter and that you enjoy. Your life would actually be a lot better than normal during those 12 months because you would be putting more into it and getting more out of it.

It would probably be the best year of your life

In some ways it would actually be a blessing if you knew you had a finite amount of time to live. It would give you the motivation you need to do the things you should be doing anyway

Don’t wait for someone to tell you that you only have a year left to live before you begin.

Start now.

Religion, Faith, Spirituality / 6 Not-so-Secret Secret Societies
« on: January 22, 2010, 07:52:05 PM »
The Freemasons

This is the granddaddy of all not-so-secret secret societies. Freemasonry, or “The Craft” as its members call it, most likely has its roots in 17th-century stoneworkers’ guilds. Mason lore, however, extends its origins back to biblical times, linking the society to the building of the Temple of Solomon. Freemasonry is split into numerous subgroups and orders, all of which consider God the Grand Geometrician, or Grand Architect of the Universe. At their hearts, these groups are all means of exploring ethical and philosophical issues, and their rituals and symbols are famous (or infamous). Take, for instance, the square-and-compass logo often seen on the backs of Cadillacs. Or the use of secret handshakes, passwords, and greeting postures/gestures called “due guards,” all collectively known as the Modes of Recognition. The list of famous Masons is massive, a virtual Who’s Who of modern history, explaining the many conspiracy theories regarding the Masons’ influence and intentions. Mozart, FDR, Harry S. Truman, George Washington, Mark Twain, Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin, John Wayne, W. C. Fields, and Douglas MacArthur were all Masons. But perhaps the Masons’ greatest strides have been made in fast food: KFC’s Colonel Sanders and Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas knew how to secret-shake with the best of ’em

The Illuminati

Over the centuries, lots of groups have called themselves the Illuminati (“Enlightened Ones”), but the one we’re talking about here began as the Bavarian Illuminati. A radical product of the Enlightenment and offshoot of the religion-based Freemasons, the Illuminati espoused secular freethinking and intellectualism and proved a threat to Europe’s old order. Although they were officially banned by the Bavarian government in 1784, some claim that they live on to this day in other guises. So, what’s the Illuminati’s goal? To establish a new world order of capitalism and authoritarianism, of course! They’ve been accused of manipulating currencies, world stock markets, elections, assassinations, and even of being aliens. One common myth is that the eye-and-pyramid image on the dollar bill is a symbol of the Illuminati watching over us. Nope. It’s a symbol of strength and durability (though unfinished, symbolizing growth and change), and the all-seeing eye represents the divine guidance of the American cause. Or so the government says.

Opus Dei

This organization has a $42 million, 17-story headquarters building on Lexington Avenue in New York City, claims 85,000 members in 60 countries, and was featured in Dan Brown’s bestseller The Da Vinci Code. Now that its existence has been significantly unsecretized, this ultraorthodox Catholic sect has definitely raised its share of eyebrows. Founded in 1928 by Saint Josemaría Escrivá (a Spanish priest who bore an uncanny resemblance to Karl Malden), Opus Dei is the short name for the Prelature for the Holy Cross and the Work of God. The sect (some would say cult) stresses a return to traditional Catholic orthodoxy and behavior, especially celibacy, with members falling into one of three levels. Numeraries live in Opus Dei facilities, devote their time and money to the prelature, attend mass daily, and engage in mortification of the flesh (wearing a spiked chain around the thigh called a cilice, taking cold showers, or flagellating themselves with a knotted rope called “the discipline”). Next come Associates (kind of like Numeraries, but living “off campus”), then Supernumeraries (the rank-and-file members). The group did gain the praise of Pope John Paul II, and has engaged in a lot of charity work. Yet, critics accuse the group of being linked to fascist organizations like Franco’s government in Spain, and of anti-Semitism and intolerance, even of other Catholics.

Skull and Bones

Top dog among all the collegiate secret societies, Yale’s Skull and Bones dates to 1832 and goes by other spooky names like Chapter 322 and the Brotherhood of Death. With a large number of Bonesmen who have attained positions of power, including the president and the head of the CIA, it’s no wonder that rumors abound that the society is hell-bent on obtaining power and influencing U.S. foreign policy. The fact that they meet in an imposing templelike building on the Yale campus called (what else?) the Tomb doesn’t really help. Bonesmen are selected, or “tapped,” during their junior year and can reveal their membership only after they’ve graduated. But they can never talk about it. The Bones have been accused of all sorts of crazy rituals and conspiracies, including drug smuggling and the assassination of JFK (a hated Hahvahd man, after all). It’s even rumored that the skull of Geronimo resides in the Tomb, stolen from its resting place by Prescott Bush, Dubya’s granddad. In one of the more commonly known rituals, the initiate spends all night naked in an open coffin, confessing all his sexual experiences to the group. So, who’s lucky enough to have made such a confession? George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, John Kerry, William Howard Taft, McGeorge Bundy, William F. Buckley, and Henry Luce are just a few.

The Trilateral Commission

While not, on its face, as juicily sinister as some of the other societies on this list, the Trilateral Commission has been accused of all sorts of underhanded shenanigans by its critics. Formed in 1973 by David Rockefeller, the Commission includes over 300 prominent citizens from Europe, Asia, and North America in a forum for discussing the regions’ common interests. But conspiracy theorists hold that the Trilateral Commission, along with the Council on Foreign Relations and others, is really just a front for a larger, more sinister order called the Round Table Groups, founded in London over 100 years ago and bent on the creation of a new world order, a global capitalist police state. Yikes! (For the record, some say
the Round Table Groups are themselves just fronts for another society, the Illuminati, so who knows?) American members of the Trilateral Commission have included Bill Clinton, Henry Kissinger, Jimmy Carter, Dick Cheney, and Dianne Feinstein.

The Bohemian Club

This is a weird one. In the majestic forests of Sonoma County north of San Francisco lies the Bohemian Grove, the 2,700-acre wooded retreat of the Bohemian Club, the nation’s most exclusive men’s club. Every July since 1879, the “Bohos” have gathered at the Grove for a two-week encampment, where they’re divided into more than 100 residential camps with names like Owl’s Nest, Cave Man, and Lost Angels. Membership has included, well, just about everybody important: Ronald Reagan, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon (who once called it “faggy”), Gerald Ford, Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, and many CEOs and wealthy business leaders like Malcolm Forbes. Each encampment opens with a robed-and-hooded ceremony called the Cremation of Care, in which an effigy called “Dull Care” (symbolizing worldly concerns) is burned before a 40- foot concrete statue of an owl, symbol of wisdom and the club’s mascot. Throughout the week, plays are staged (called High Jinx and Low Jinx), there’s lots of eating and drinking (and, reportedly, urinating on trees), and members are treated to speeches called Lakeside Talks. Some opponents go so far as to accuse the group of Satanism, witchcraft, homosexuality, and prostitution, while more reasonable observers object to the Lakeside Talks as national policy discussions to which the public is not privy. But above all, it’s seen as a way that some of the elite meet others of the elite, thereby ensuring that they’ll all stay elite. All this makes the club’s seemingly anticonspiratorial slogan—“Weaving spiders, come not here”—that much more ironic

Shayari / Brokenhearted
« on: January 22, 2010, 06:59:40 PM »
In the beginning it sounded so perfect,
The first night we were together
It seemed so worth it.
Each day, the harder I tried,
Each day, it seemed you had more to hide.
There is nothing more I can offer you,
It seems you can’t be satisfied.
I only asked for your truth
Yet, each day I was only denied.
The smallest of happiness I needed to get by,
Just to survive…
“Why,” must you take for granted all of my emotions?
“Why,” didn’t I leave you, on the smallest of a notion?
Now I must realize, it’s time to walk away,
I’m sorry… there’s nothing left to say.
