Jokes Majaak / Gen - Y .. lol
« on: February 23, 2012, 01:08:25 PM »

People born before 1946 were called The Silent generation..
- People born between 1946 and 1959 are called The Baby Boomers.
- People born between 1960 and 1979 are called Generation X, .

- And people born between 1980 and 2010 are called Generation Y,

Why do we call the last group Generation Y?
Y should I get a job?
Y should I leave home and find my own place?
Y should I get a car when I can borrow yours?
Y should I clean my room?
Y should I wash and iron my own clothes?
Y should I buy any food?
But a cartoonist explained it very eloquently below…

News Khabran / Wipro chairman Mr. Azim prem ji's comment on reservation
« on: February 22, 2012, 06:51:24 AM »

" I think we should have job reservations in all the fields.
I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this.
Let's start the reservation with our cricket team.
We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims.
30 percent for OBC, SC /ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly.
The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player.
The four hit by an SC/ST/OBC player should be considered
as a six and a six hit by a SC/ST/OBC player should be counted as 8 runs.
An SC/ST/OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century.
We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers
like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our SC/ST/OBC player.
Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an SC/ST/OBC
player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.
Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race,
an SC/ST/OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.
There can be reservation in Government jobs also.
Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are
carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country)
Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers
and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..)
Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward.
Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country.
Let's be proud of being an INDIAN...
May the good breed of politicians long live.."

News Khabran / guru nanak asharam .... home for homeless
« on: February 20, 2012, 12:54:59 PM »

Although deemed to be unlawful, mentally challenged people kept in chains is hardly anything new in India, or in many parts of the world. Yet, the sight of half-a-dozen people, both adults and teenagers, kept in chains comes as a shock.

On the outskirts of Jalandhar, on the road to Adampur, is the Guru Nanak Ashram, where nobody is turned away.

Though the Ashram came up in 2005, its reputation has resulted in as many as 150 people, over one hundred of whom are said to be mentally challenged, finding shelter in this home for the homeless.

But while the Mental Health Act requires the mentally challenged to be treated with dignity, and international covenants highlight the human rights of the mentally challenged, the Ashram is clearly in no position to take care of the inmates. It simply does not have the resources. Yet, other NGOs and even the Child Helpline operating from government organisations, give no second thoughts before dumping the mentally challenged here.

The beds are in short supply and the ones which are there are mostly broken. The inmates move around barefoot and most of them sleep in the open on the floor. There are two rooms, one of which doubles up as the office and at night is used by the inmates to huddle together.

Many of them are not even dressed to cope with the chill. The Ashram, admits the caretaker Surinder Singh, is run on donations and there is never enough to take care of everything. Curiously, the Home does not receive any ‘regular’ help from the government.

Three doctors visit the Ashram, claimed the caretaker. But none of them is apparently a psychiatrist. In other words, the mentally challenged are neither receiving any treatment nor are they being administered any medicine. Even food is meagre; one of the meals is arranged by the community kitchen or langar.

There are 30 beds for the 150 inmates, admits Surinder Singh. Some of them are placed in a courtyard, part of which is used as a garbage dump. Water from the sewer has collected in another part.

High profile visitors to the ashram include politicians. A few visitors give some donations too. But donations , though trickling in, are simply not enough.

Some of the inmates were in chains because they tried to run away, explained the caretaker.

“Some of the inmates try to run away when we are not around or they try to scale the wall at night,” he said and added, “Usually, such attempts are made during the initial few days, when they are new at the ashram ... But later, when they stop making such attempts, we release them.”

Neither officials nor social workers seem to have visited the ashram to ascertain the situation yet.

Knowledge / What is TRP?
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:20:16 AM »

Tusi suneya huna TRP bare.. keh es show di TRP wadh gyi ..
e.g. tusi suneya huna big boss di TRP bahut ho gyi si..

lets look at what is TRP

TRP stands for Target Rating point ..

it is a unit to measure the number of viewers watching that TV program or channel.

the concept is very simple. there is device called people meter which is installed in some sample viewers houses
it looks like this

there are two types of meters ..
one type which was used earlier was based on the frequency. As we know the frequency for each channel is different.
so it records frequency to which the TV is tuned for a channel and stats are sent to the organisation to calculate the TRP ratings.
In india there is only one company doing this thing ->  INTAM (Indian television audience measurement)
but this type was not very accurate because cable operators keeps on changing the frequency for a particular channel
from their end so data was not accurate.

Second and more accurate method which is followed presently is related to capturing the picture (same as taking the screen shot) and then calculating the data.

the total number of meters installed in India for capturing the TRP data are around 25K only.

Knowledge / Torrents Kive kam krde aa..
« on: February 15, 2012, 01:58:36 AM »

tusi sareya ne torrents use kita huna to download stuff from internet ..
movies , music , videos vegreh layi..
aayo dekhde aa ke kive kam krda aa torrent..

actually, downloading is of two types

1. client server
2. peer to peer

1. client server is when you download some stuff from a server hosting it as shown below

so as it is clear from the fig.. this approach is not the optimized one.

2. peer to peer .. in this instead of using the browser .. we use one specific software like LimeWire to locate
the computers which are having the required file and are also running this software. the following fig explains the same

Now torrent or we can say bit torrent is a type of peer to peer downloading type where it uses one server to keep

track of various stats like number of seeds, peers , percentage completion of the file.

you first download the .torrent file from internet.

then you must have one torrent client (like UTorrent )installed on ur machine

then the you open the .torrent file in this client and this software will connect to the tracker server to   find
out the seeds (the computers which are having a portion of the file.)

then your computer start receiving the multiple parts of the file from various computers.

and simultaneously it starts treating you also as a source for this file and whatever portion you have
downloaded will be available for download

it makes better use of your internet bandwidth.

common terms related to bittorrents are as follow

Leeches - People who download files but do not share files on their own computer with others

Seed or seeder - A computer with a complete copy of a BitTorrent file (At least one seed computer is necessary
for a BitTorrent download to operate.)

Swarm - A group of computers simultaneously sending (uploading) or receiving (downloading) the same file

.torrent - A pointer file that directs your computer to the file you want to download

Tracker - A server that manages the BitTorrent file-transfer process

Now let us look at the legal things related to torrents

BitTorrent can be used to download copyrighted material. Because BitTorrent handles large files remarkably well,
it is especially popular for downloading video files. The Motion Picture Association of America has filed countless
lawsuits, causing at least many high-traffic .torrent download sites to shut down.

BitTorrent itself is perfectly legal to use. When you select a file to download, however, it is your responsibility to
make sure the file not copyrighted. BitTorrent downloads are not anonymous information about your computer's
IP address and the files you download can be traced back to you.

So be careful while selecting a file to download.
