The popular Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan made up for a show cancelled midway in Calgary on Sunday night by staging another one on Monday night.

The event's promoters, meanwhile, indicated that they intended to launch legal action against the original venue-- the Telus Convention Centre.

The show was held at Prairie Winds Park in northeast Calgary as quick arrangements were made to organize a make-up performance in the outdoors.

Many people were turned away from the venue of the concert and the show was shut down in mid-performance after the security officials refused entry to many Sikh fans wearing kirpans.

Hundred of irate spectators, mostly south-Asians, who had paid $100 per ticket to see 52 year old singer known to deliver power-packed live performances, spilled onto the streets in downtown Calgary outside Telus Convention Centre, the venue.

Police had to be called in when the argument between concertgoers and security guards got heated. Officials with the convention centre insisted they have a no-weapons policy.

The popular singer had already performed in Vancouver, BC on August 1 at packed Pacific National Exhibition PNE kicking off his six-city Canadian tour. The rest of the shows are scheduled at Edmonton on August 8, Penticton on August 9, Toronto on August 15 and Winnipeg on August 16.
