Anti-corruption activist anna hazare is leading a day-long hunger strike by civil society activists at Delhi's Rajghat on Wednesday to protest against the government's action during a satyagraha staged by yoga guru Baba Ramdev last week.
The fast is being held at Rajghat after police refused permission for Jantar Mantar, where prohibitory orders are in force. Prayer meetings will go on at Rajghat through the day as part of Hazare's satyagraha. A debate on the Lokpal Bill will also be held around 4 pm before the fast winds up at 7.30 pm.

1.40 pm: Fast continues at Rajghat.

12.40 pm: "Crackdown on Ramdev's supporters murder of democracy," says Hazare.

12.35 pm: "Our movement for a fair Lokpal Bill will continue. The government wants to stifle our rights," says Hazare.

12.25 pm: "Our movement is against corruption and not for any votebank," says Hazare.

12.20 pm: "The Constitution gives people the right to protest, hold dharnas and sit-ins against injustice. Baba Ramdev didn't do anything against national interest," says Hazare. "The agitation that we began in April against corruption needs to be spread across the country."

12.15 pm: Anna Hazare begins addressing supporters

12.07 pm: Many in crowd prevented from putting up placards and banners of yoga guru Baba Ramdev.

12.03 pm: "Political parties must declare the source of their funds," demands Kejriwal.

11.50 am: "Union Minister Kapil Sibal called us conspirators and accused us of betrayal. Isn't the massive corruption in this country a betrayal of the people?" asks Kejriwal.
11.30 am: Arvind Kejriwal says: "Baba Ramdev's satyagraha on June 4 was non-violent. By ordering a police crackdown, the government has torn the Constitution to shreds."

11.10 am: Songs being sung at Rajghat. Hazare and his suporters are seen clapping.

11 am: Kiran Bedi calls Hazare the "Gandhi of our times". "Anyone who struggles for the country, follows the path of truth and non-violence is a Gandhi," she says.

10.50 am: Kiran Bedi and Swami Agnivesh address supporters.

10.40 am: Hazare chants "Vande Mataram", "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Inquilab Zindabad", prompting the crowd to echo him.

10.35 am: Heavy security at Rajghat for Hazare's fast.
10.25 am: A surge of supporters at Rajghat. They are wearing Gandhi caps and waving the Tricolour.
