Resume Readers
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:33:20 PM »
Today I wud like to write about something related to human resources..

Few facts about Resume Readers..
First and foremost thing about resume is that Resume should not be come up with idea that why u need this job  but it should refelect why company needs u..
Secondly, u shud be well aware what kind of qualification is required for that specific job so ur resume shud not be underqualified or over qualified ..yes, even overexaggeration of ur qualification and experience makes company insecure about ur future interest in continuing with company becoz everybody want u for long time and even Managers dont want u to acquire their position so ur resume and interview shud be fully oriented towards that specific job which u have applied for..:)

Now few universal facts about resume readers..

1. Resume readers are some of the smartest and most skeptical readers in the world. They know that at least half of what they read consists of lies, exaggerations, half-truths, and semantic and formatting tricks.

2. Therefore, the typical resume reader is looking for a quick and convincing reason to throw yours out. Some will even discard it if they don’t like the envelope or the way the email looks. And they’re unwilling to open up a zip file. You know how annoying it is to get an email that requires you to open up several files; for the resume reader, it’s triply annoying.

3. They are unimpressed by the latest resume fad. For a long time, it was (and largely still is) using strong verbs. Since a verb is an action word, we think readers will be impressed by lots of great verbs. They’re not. Another big craze is numbers. Some experts say that you’ve got to have lots of quantitative data in your resume, or no one will take you seriously.

4. Most readers know that their company is in no hurry to hire. Even if they are interested in you, they will take their time responding. They are not interested in calling you back right away, even if they like your resume.so dont annoy them inquiring again and agian abt ur resume.

5.They are not interested in your personal objectives for your life and your career.
They are only interested in how you can help their company solve its problems and achieve its goals—that’s why they hire. But they are totally unaware of your unique strengths and value that you can potentially bring to the organization. That’s because in most resumes, the person’s unique strengths and potential value are buried somewhere in the middle of the resume and not written for a skimmer/reader.

So, next time whenever ur writing ur resume try to keep these points in mind..try to modify ur resume according to each job's specific requirements..:)

Thanks for reading.:)

3rd that I had been thinking about this for some time, but had been too lazy :loll:

How about posting a CV structure, to help out the new-comers to the job scene?

Making resume are easy ..  :loll:

I think one rule for resume:
For any Job, Resume is what is gonna do the talking on your behalf. And that is just a piece of paper .. It is your skills that will make it a resume.

So First make a resume, and then "Read it"..
- First thing if any part of the resume don't make sense to you it wont make sense to anyone - Means Aviod Coping from internet :loll: ..  I have seen people doing that and putting like skills that a CEO should have on their resume :pagel:
- Second thing why do you think that the person will be impressed by ur resume

Once you get into interview.. All you have nail is one question - Tell us about urself ... If you can't nail this question down .. you shouldn't go for an interview - As you can't ever decribe your good .. Why you expect person could hire you :pagel:

- And Interviews are fun.. as I am Good at making Bs and Sometime the person realize it and it get bit messed up :loll: :loll:

My interview Bloppers - Just one example .. I had gone for like 45 -50 interviews so far and this was one of them .. During my first year :pagel: :loll:

I think the funniest things happen to me in Interviews

I went into an interview once.. I didnt want to get into that job, as they were up north. So went into the interview unprepared.
Just to have Idea I took a glance at the website and thought the company make "Engine Belts"

Now I am in the Interview.. Two Guys sitting infront of me.. The first Guy asked - "Ok So Tell us what you know about the company?" and then My BS starts... I was like oh you guys make Engine belts.. Belts of various material and strenght.. You have this kind of technology ... n BLAH BLAH.. I lasted 4-5 mins with my BS.. which is quite a bit
N then the guy look at my resume.. n then at me.. Took of his glasses.. N said "Well just to let you know we dont make Enginer Belts.. We have company that make "Seat Belt" and had a evil smile on his face" ... n the other guy start laughing.. n said "A very good explanation about the engine belt"
- Damn that was embracing... !!

Tuning up your resume to wash away popular mistakes is what you need. Looking for a job is really hard nowadays that there is a lot of competitive graduate student. How often have you expected additional information on how to apply for a payday loan, and resorted to a web site search on "reputable payday loan companies?"
