ok guys so main jitthe rendi aa othe ek small Indian community aa.  Ethe aaj tak kadi vi kisse vi tarah di Indian gathering nai hoi.  Main etthe Gurdwara sahib de president naal gal karn bare sochdi si ki etthe 2013 vich Visakhi Mela kita jave.  There are a lot of kids here under the age of 16 that were really intrested in bhangra and giddha when I brought up the topic at a gathering at the gurdwarra sahib.  So I feel like this will be a good thing for all the kids.  I'm really not sure how to approach president saab, any ideas? I have enough free time that I can take time throughout the week to teach the kids but I just need to figure out a good way to talk to this guy so that he won't refuse to my idea... HELP please

We did something like this 2 years ago in cooperation with the city and the gurdwara sangat. Had my team perform bhangra, had an NYC gatka team perform Sikh martial arts, some speeches and gurbani kirtan to kick off the event. I still meet American people in the city who remember that event. It was probably their only introduction to Punjabi/Sikh people that live here. Initially it was just going to be gurdwara people, but then we contacted the local TV station and they helped get us open space in a park.

Tips would be:
- Plan way ahead.
- Keep pushing our own community, get as many of our people involved as you can.
- Get a local bhangra team to help (if needed)
- Get the city hall involved (they love the idea of langar).

Thanks Grenade Singh ji, I called Uncle ji this morning and asked if I could meet with him and a few other members of the Gurudwara sahib, and he was very nice and I'll be talking to them after Langar on Sunday. So hopefully all will be well :)
