Dream Destination: Eros Lake

(1/1)

ѕняєєf Jatt кαиg:
This place is called, Eros Lake, a heart shaped  lake that most people say, warms the eyes. It is situated 1,398 meter above sea level, and has a surface area of 1,827 square meters. This lovely heart shaped lake actually has tolerable warm water. This lake is about half way (2.5 km) up the Chembra Peak trek, so if one does not persevere to go that far, he or she will never see it for all its glory. If you wish to see this lake, permission from the forest office in Meppady is required for trekking up to Chembra Peak. That’s where this heart shaped lake is found, on the way to the top of the peak. It has actually become a major tourist attraction. Is it a magical thought that the lake is believed to have never dried up, regardless the weather. As soon as you get to the lake, enjoy the majestic view, rest a while and relax for you need to trek another half way which is through the dense trees of about one to two km. A 5 km journey from Meppadi town through tea estates to Erumakkolli soon after.
Chembra  is located in Meppadi (Meppady) Panchayath, which is 11 km off NH212 (Kollegal – Mysore – Kozhikode). For people who like to ride instead of trekking, they can take public transport, KSRTC (both Kerala & Karnataka) and a lot of private companies also operate overnight deluxe buses between Kozhikode (aka Calicut) and Bengaluru. They can then get down at Kalpetta and take another bus to Meppadi, which is 11 km from Chundale, in the SH29, connecting Chundale to Ooty.
