This is very big news.  There had been past speculation about this. And google has just confirmed this on their blog that they will build Google Chrome Operating System, based on Linux.

Their main features will be:
- everything online
- instant on/off
- no software installs/useless-interactions (i.e. minimal learning curve)

What do you guys think?

You're too quick on the trigger...  I don't think you realize how good Google's stack is: Native Client, Google gears, browser.  But I think where you're short sighted is comparing it to Windows. Think of it as: they're trying to innovate...

Bakki i know its a great invovation... but the problem i have is they are calling it an OS..that y i mentioned microsoft... I think its should be like .. I donno .. may be Web systemm.. hahahaha .. lol.. kiddin ji

N more over as they try to get close to make it a stand alone syste,.. they just gonna end up coping what ever is linux... But as i said it is a Multi Billion company .. they are not tat stupid that they care to start an idea that dont even make sense.. So all we can do is wait i guess..
But still they might end up competing with Microsoft as when they try to expand the Chrome to bigger laptop or desktop like 13, 14 etc etc.. Microsoft will come into action as it know that ppl are fed up of using Windows..n will be attracted to google more as they trust it more...  hahaha ..

google changed its name on april 1, and one of my frind was telling me and being cool and all excited about new name,,, I told him it was april fool  :laugh:
