Pakistan won their 1st test cricket series since 2006 after a 10 wicket victory at hams. Today's 2nd cricket test at the basin reserve between NZ and pakistan ended in a draw.

We officially suck at cricket or we're just not going anywhere.          To add to that, daniel vettori is stepping down as a captain.

TVNZ on grading the black caps test series

Which i sort of disagree on some of the markings, most o' them should be on the D's and few on the F's after the disastrous test matches.

Brendon McCullum. 157 runs at 39.25.
As ever, the converted opener's series was liberally sprinkled with moments of brilliance and reckless dismissals. He threw away a century in the first innings in Hamilton then was unfairly sawn off by poor decisions twice in a row: caught behind in the second innings and LBW in his first dig in Wellington. Looks at the part at the top of the order and his presence in the field is a boost as well.
Grade: B

Tim McIntosh. 8 runs at 4.
Dropped after a dire outing in Hamilton where his lack of footwork was exposed by the fast men, particularly the bustling Tanvir Ahmed. It might've seemed harsh given he'd made 102 and 49 in India just two Tests previously, but his confidence levels had become so low that his position at the top of the order had become untenable.
Grade: F

Martin Guptill. 163 runs at 40.75.
Returned to his opening slot in Wellington and performed admirably; blunting the new ball in the first innings then stroking an attractive 73 in the second. However, his inability to rotate the strike to spin bowlers will be a real worry with a trip to the subcontinent for next month's World Cup looming. His incredible first innings dismissal in Hamilton - hitting a waist high full toss straight to cover - summed up his mental block around slower bowling.
Grade: B

Ross Taylor. 144 runs at 36.
Made up for a horror Test in Hamilton - where he scored just 14 runs and dropped an easy slips catch - with two half centuries in Wellington. Should've converted his first innings 78 to a hundred but lost concentration, and his surprisingly defensive approach in the second innings slowed New Zealand's push towards a declaration.
Grade: B

Jesse Ryder. 39 runs at 9.75.
A comeback series to forget for the left-hander; though each of his dismissals were memorable in their own way. He was run out at the bowler's end in Hamilton via a faint deflection onto the stumps, dismissed first ball by unplayable deliveries twice in a row, then incredibly was bowled shouldering arms to a gentle Hafeez off break on the first ball after a rain break to round off a miserable series.
Grade: D

Kane Williamson. 87 runs at 21.75.
In his first home series, the rigours of Test cricket began to hit home for the Tauranga youngster. The series began well with a patient fifty in Hamilton but it unravelled from there: first he ran out his skipper during the second innings fiasco and his scoring rate was painstaking slow during two scratchy innings at the Basin.
Grade: C

James Franklin. 39 runs at 19.5.
Forced his way back into the team for the second Test as a batsman who could bowl a bit but didn't really do either role justice. In the first innings he battled gamely to 33 before being strangled down the leg side and he was dismissed tamely in the second. On his home ground that has brought him success in past Tests, Franklin could extract little movement or bounce from the wicket and was used for just 14 overs in the Test.
Grade: B-

Reece Young. 103 runs at 25.75.
A promising debut series for the Auckland veteran. Made a crucial 57 to hold the New Zealand innings together in the first innings at Wellington and chipped in with three other scores in the teens. There were a few hiccups with the gloves - understandable since he's had little time to gel with regular first slipper Ross Taylor - but he looks like he belongs at this level.
Grade: B

Daniel Vettori. 114 runs at 28.5, 6 wickets at 34.2.
All but four of Vettori's runs came in a superb rearguard century in Wellington; his sixth in Tests. Strolling to the crease with his team in peril at 180 for six, he shared a sensible partnership of 138 with Young one of the highlights of the series. His bowling was treated with watchful respect from most of Pakistan's batsmen, although the ease with which they handled him on the final day at the Basin was surprising.
Grade: B

Tim Southee. 96 runs at 32, 6 wickets at 40.5.
By his own admission, Southee has struggled for consistency but might've turned a corner with a series of mature and reliable outings with the ball. More importantly, he showed a real hostility and abrasiveness with the ball that has been missing from recent New Zealand attacks; possibly even overstepping the mark on a couple of occasions. His figures don't do his efforts justice.
Grade: B

Brent Arnel. 4 wickets at 40.5.
Was New Zealand's best in the first innings in Hamilton but he failed to take a wicket after that and Vettori's decision not to use him until the 38th over of Pakistan's second innings in Wellington felt like a public rebuke. Tried hard but when the ball wasn't swinging he didn't have the pace to trouble the likes of Younis Khan and Misbah.
Grade: B-

Chris Martin. 9 wickets at 27.9.
The 36-year-old just keeps going and going. New Zealand's best bowler of the series ran in with the enthusiasm of a man half his age and the stamina of a marathon runner. Martin was a constant menace to the top order - six of his nine victims came from Pakistan's top three - and as ever, his batting provided the odd highlight. Agonisingly, he'll be made to wait until the Black Caps' next overseas tour to bring up his 200th Test wicket.|
Grade: A
