Okay I have been thinking about this for a while ... sochiyaa sariyaan nuun puch laine aan ....

Assi saare kehne aan ki "PROUD to be PUNJABI" ... bahutaan kol ta T-shirt vi honi aa with that label

hun tussi dasso kyun you feel proud to be punjabi

Pujabi hon da aina pride kyun hai tuhanu....

Meri te badi lambi list aa - In my opinion ...

- punjabi log saare hi bahut hospitable hunde aa .. maane ki koi ghar aanda te bada pyaar respect te apne pan de naal unhan de naal behave karde (main kai hor lokan de kar gayi and I felt uncomfortable kyuki ohh log bahut diffferent si)

- most punjabis are very confortable with change. Sadiyaan (ages) ni lagdiyaan change liyaan vaaste.

- Kehen vaali gall hi nahin ki saare punjabi bahut hard working te determined hunde aa.

- AND very helpful - ek time di gall aa I was travelling from New york to DC, bus de vich mera phone gavach giya :cry: kisse ne kio khayal vi ni kitta (Grrrrrr these americans) ... par ik punjabi uncle si.. ohnane rok ke meri help kitti labban de vich te and then offered his phone so that main ik call kar sakan (he dint even know I was punjabi) ... so you see.. saare bahut helpful hunde aa without a reason

so wats your reason???

But maybe we'r too comfortable with the changes .. shayad taahi sadde toh apne sardari ni saambhi gayi... been what 311 yrs and we'r already losing on our sikhii

Saare apne reasons vi dasso why you are proud or are you NOT!! Please just dont discuss what I have given. I am interested in knowing what others feel and I am sure you too.

Chamatkari Chachaji, main change nuun good taan kehni aan ki assi badalde time de naal badalde aan as needed. For eg Saade parents saade lifestyle de naal delve hunde aa, they dont say ki aa rahi pathar di lakir te dis is what you HAVE to do. Mera eh matlab si change de naal. Kheti vichon nikal ke assi education explore kitti. Assi agge vadade aan, 1970s de vich nahin rehnde assi, we accept change. Saade culture de vich female di jedi jagah sii we changed to a better state now. All because we could accept the change. And most of the time - Change is good.

Appan time de badalav nuun ni rok sakde, we can fight it, but we cant stop it. I wouldnt be proud of myself if I wanted things to work exactly how they did back in 70s.

Rahi gal sikhi sambhalan di, I think I am not yet mature enough to discuss on that. Someone else need to help me on this.

LondonPunjabi, thats true, I am not proud of that part either but I believe this is not something we can generalize. Noone taught ki JUST because one is punjabi they need to drink thats a bad choice. A lot of people in my life dont so really does not apply to me.

Nothing to be proud of just by being a Punjabi. All the praise to those who bought up this religion but You have the same Brown skin as any other brown guy .. Who could be hindu or Muslim (and dont take me rong we do have Hindu and Muslim Punjabis)

- Your Action make you proud. So its not where you live (Punjab) or what you speak make you proud (Punjabi). Involve yourself in the actions that will make you proud and maintain the respect of the race you belong to.

I am not so sure I agree with all of that. It isn’t whether you are Hindu, Muslim or Sikh that should dictate your pride; that in its self brings a different kind of pride. However, national pride is different because Hindu, Sikh or Muslim Punjabi’s can identify in a pride of togetherness. Culture and history obviously have a part to play as well. Sikhs are a case in point because of their blood soaked history.

It is true that a person is judged by his/her actions and so is a nation by its collective actions but that is nothing to do with pride. For instance, death by stoning is permitted in some Islamic countries. That to some is abhorrent; but to the people of those countries it is their law and their way of life. Should they be proud of that? Or should they be concerned that the rest of the world condemns them and might even see them as barbaric? So you see, I believe that is entirely different from being patriotic and showing pride in you nation. I am deeply patriotic when it comes to the Punjab; even more so than ever showing an ounce of Patriotism for India. I see my self as Sikh first, Punjabi Sikh second and Punjabi Sikh Jatt third. My father is Punjab and my mother is Punjabi. India doesn’t even come in fourth.

Very often people get confused between patriotism and nationalism. Patriotic pride and Nationalism are two very different things but can have a blurred border. I see nothing wrong with patriotism at all, after all that is the root to being proud of your unity; in this case the common unity is Punjab. However, nationalism can be something very dangerous because in times of crisis it looks for scapegoats. An example of that is “ethnic cleansing” which has been witnessed through ages of man. Could anyone ever be proud of ethnic cleansing? I suggest not.

eh to bina punjabi loka ne apnian jana di parvah na karde hoie india nu British govt to azaad karvia si....Sardar Bhagat Singht, Kartar Singh Sarabha or hor bahut sare person jo aazadi di jang lare or dash nu azzad karvia oh jaydatr punjabi hi san....

i was in chandigarh last month i went to hot millions in sec 17 with my frnds....i forget my cell phone there it was Sony Ericsson XPERIA....kuch time badh jad main koi call karni si ta pata chala ki i lost my mob....meri frnd ne mare mob te call keti or resaurant de manager ne call attand keti or keha ki tusi aa ke apna mob lai jao ....jad asi phone lain gaye ta manager ne dasia ki phone ohna de ik waiter nu mialia si but us waiter nu call attend nahi karni aa rahi si ta us ne mob manager nu de dita ta jo oh call attand karke das sake ki mera phone kithe aa....i was so surprised ki ik waiter ne phone vapis kar dita jad ke oh apne col rakh sakda si but usne aaive nahi keta....i was so happy....main us waiter nu Rs1000 dita as a thnx or oh waiter kehnda mainu ki ouse kafi time mainu market ch labn di try keti mob vapis karn nu but main ohto ja chuki si....oh ik punjabi si or etho pata chalda ki punabi kine honest hunde ne....

Errrrr, I would expect the waiter to do his job and perform his duty in attempting to return your mobile phone. I fail to see that as something that should make you proud. Surely that is just common courtesy and not outside the realms of simple decency. I would expect that from any waiter of any background in any country. /:) /:)

Jado tussi next India aoge te pls be careful, not everyone will DEFINITELY give stuff back. I agree it is courtesy to give it back but there are a lot of people jinan diyaan basic needs nahin puriyan hoyiyaan so they are forced to take that and prob sell it or do something with that. It's unfortunate.

Ji Bilkul. I agree 100%. That is all the more reason to believe that the returning of a mobile is not a fair reason to be proud.
