Noted film director Manmohan Singh is all set to embark upon his next ambitious celluloid project, 'Mera Pind-My Home'. Coming close on the heels of the super success of his recent production 'Mitti Wajaan Maardi', starring noted Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann, Manmohan Singh's latest movie 'Mera Pind-My Home' will also cast cricketer turned Member of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu in a major role for the first time ever. The project interestingly assumes greater significance, being Sidhu's first film.
Ace Director and cinematographer Manmohan Singh teams again with Adlabs for this film. "The idea is to take a Punjabi film out of Punjab and market it all over the world," says Manmohan Singh "the film has all the ingredients of a commercial film along with a message for the youth and NRIs" adds Singh.
Saurabh Varma, Chief Marketing Officer, Reliance Entertainment adds "We are proud and privileged to work with one of the best filmmakers on this side of the world – Mr. Manmohan Singh. This film will be positioned like any other heart warming Bollywood film with absolute focus on marketing, advertising and promotions. Overseas is a big market for 'Mera Pind-My Home' and this will be supported by a special focus on digital downloads of the film. There has already been a tremendous response online through blogs and emailers; therefore we intend to take this film to the next level in terms of positioning."
'Mera Pind-My Home', as the name suggests, is essentially a film woven around the plot and backdrop of a Punjabi village with its typical characters and their own set of challenging and trying circumstances which would be conveyed cinematically, informed Manmohan Singh. However, contrary to the underlying NRI themes of earlier productions, this time the film aims to send out a clear cut message to Punjabis who some how seem to be laid back and lethargic in their approach when it comes to working for their own land and people back here in Punjab.", remarked Singh. The idea is to make targeted Punjabi audiences realize the importance of being entrepreneurs in their own land rather than showing their extraordinary entrepreneurship in far off lands in the West where Punjabis are touted to be fairly successful and hardworking. An impression which belies the visible reality back home, he adds.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, the new star in Punjabi Cinema, said that the theme of 'Mera Pind-My Home' is closer to his heart. "While I, being a Punjabi myself can relate to my character in the film more emphatically than anyone else, it will still be a learning experience with a seasoned director like Manmohan ji and my brother Harbhajan Mann with whom I look forward to have a great working experience on the sets", said a beaming Sidhu.
Harbhajan Mann, the lead actor of Mera Pind-My Home said that after the success of 'Mitti Wajaan Maardi', 'Asaan Nu Mann Watnaan Da', J'ee Aaayaan Nu', 'Yaaran Naal Baharaan' and 'Dil Apna Punjabi', it has become a way with Manmohan ji to feel the pulse of Punjabi audiences and Mera Pind-My Home will hopefully live up to that critical parameter.
