At half time

At half-time, Manchester United and Barcelona are no closer to deciding who will be crowned European Champion, sitting tied at one goal apiece.

Barcelona took the early lead on a goal from Pedro in the 27th minute. The Barcelona striker was able to bury a chance past United keeper Edwin van der Sar after a cross from Xavi Hernandez left him all alone in the box.

Manchester United drew level less than 10 minutes later on a close strike from Wayne Rooney.

Rooney put the ball past an outstretched Jose Manuel Pinto after a cross from Javier Hernandez left him with an open look.

United had looked like the better side for the opening 10 minutes, but the tide quickly turned after Barcelona found their feet in front of the London crowd.

Barcelona players petitioned the referee for a hand-ball in the 12th minute, as the ball appeared to strike United defender Patrice Evra's hand inside the box.

Barcelona striker Pedro tipped a cross just wide of the United goal in the 16th minute for the game's first quality scoring chance.

David Villa whistled a shot just to the right of the United goal in the 19th minute, providing a acre for United's back end.

With a chance to pull ahead once more in the 42nd minute Barcelona was unable to convert a set piece off a free kick. The chance came after Antonio Valencia was called for a foul just outside the box.

Lionel Messi was unable to connect with a ball of the foot of David Villa in the 44th minute, missing a glorious chance for a go-ahead strike.

Injury has forced Barcelona captain Carles Puyol to start the game on the sidelines, while United's Dimitar Berbatov started on the bench in favour of Mexican striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez.

The match between the two European giants Manchester United and Barcelona will determine which club is Europe's best in 2011.

It makes for a fitting end to this year's Champions League campaign, pitting two of Europe's most storied franchises against each other in a rematch of 2009's Champions final. Barcelona triumphed in that game 2-0 in Rome's Olympic Stadium.

This year's rematch provides not only another glimpse at two of the most successful teams in recent UEFA Champions League history, but arguably the two best soccer teams playing right now. Both Barcelona and Manchester United won their respective league titles this year, setting up a winner-take-all final between the two.

Both teams had to push past their arch-rivals, not only for their respective league titles, but also in Champions League play. Barcelona topped Real Madrid 3-1 in a two-leg semi-final Classico, while United powered past Chelsea in the quarters by an aggregate score of 3-1.

United and Barcelona are both in search of their third title since the European Club Championship was rebranded to the current Champions League tournament format. Barcelona won it all in 2006 in addition to beating United in 2009. United has won Champions League twice: in 1999 and in a thrilling victory over Chelsea on penalties in 2008.

Prior to the Champions League rebranding, each club had won one European Cup title, with Barcelona winning in 1992 and Manchester United in 1968.

Both teams have previously won European titles at Wembley, with Barcelona winning 1992 and United taking the title on home soil in 1968.

Mike Brown has agreed in principle to become the Lakers' next head coach, according to an NBA official who was not permitted to speak publicly on the matter.

Brown is expected to sign a contract later Wednesday or Thursday. The deal is worth between $4 million and $4.5 million per season, NBA officials said. Brown's contract is thought to be for three years, with a team option on the fourth season that would give him partial pay if he is not retained.

Phil Jackson retired as the Lakers' head coach after the team was eliminated by Dallas in the second round of the playoffs.

Brown, 41, was head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for five seasons until he was fired in 2010. He had a 272-138 record.

He was named the NBA's coach of the year in 2009, leading the Cavaliers to a 66-16 record.

Brown also led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2007, but Cleveland was swept by the San Antonio Spurs.

[Updated at 3:55 p.m.] The Lakers issued a statement: "we’ve met with Mike [Brown] and are very impressed with him.  In addition, we have an outline for an agreement in place and hope to sign a contract within the next few days.”

News Khabran / Macho Man Randy Savage -Dead
« on: May 21, 2011, 10:22:28 PM »
"Macho Man" Randy Savage, a professional wrestler who became a fan favorite thanks to his outlandish outfits and trademark catchphrase, died Friday in a car wreck, as first reported by TMZ.
The 58-year-old Savage -- whose legal name was Randy Mario Poffo -- reportedly suffered a heart attack while driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler in Tampa, Fla., and careened across lanes of oncoming traffic before colliding head-on with a tree. He died later at a local hospital.
Savage's wife Lynn, who was riding in the passenger seat, escaped with only minor injuries. Both passengers were wearing seatbelts and the police do not believe alcohol was a factor.

The World Wrestling Federation favorite from Ohio burst onto the scene in 1985 and quickly drew attention with his flamboyant outfits and "ooh yeah!" catchphrase. His marriage to Elizabeth Hulette, Ms. Elizabeth to fans, was one of the first high-profile wrestler/valet relationships. They divorced in 1992. Savage remarried last year.
He won two WWF championships in his career. His match against Ricky Steamboat in 1987's Wrestlemania III is considered one of the best WWF bouts ever. Savage won the title late that year, setting the stage for memorable battles with Hulk Hogan, who would eventually dethrone him as champion.

World Wrestling Entertainment released an official statement on Friday afternoon.
"WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of one of the greatest Superstars of his time, Randy Poffo, aka Randy "Macho Man" Savage.
One of Macho Man's biggest rivals was Hulk Hogan. Hogan said he and Savage had just started talking again after 10 years.
"He had so much life in his eyes & in his spirit, I just pray that he's happy and in a better place and we miss him," Hogan wrote.
Savage also appeared in memorable ads for Slim Jim and played a wrestler in the 2002 hit film "Spider-Man."

By now, you've probably heard of the religious group that's predicting the end of the world starts this weekend.

Harold Camping and his devoted followers claim a massive earthquake will mark the second coming of Jesus, or so-called Judgment Day on Saturday, May 21, ushering in a five month period of catastrophes before the world comes to a complete end in October.

At the center of it all, Camping's organization, Family Radio, is perfectly happy to take your money -- and in fact, received $80 million in contributions between 2005 and 2009. Camping founded Family Radio, a nonprofit Christian radio network based in Oakland, Calif. with about 65 stations across the country, in 1958.

But not even all of his own employees are convinced that the world is ending on Saturday.

In fact, many still plan on showing up at work on Monday.

"I don't believe in any of this stuff that's going on, and I plan on being here next week," a receptionist at their Oakland headquarters told CNNMoney.

A program producer in Illinois told us, "We're going to continue doing what we're doing."

According to their most recent IRS filings, Family Radio is almost entirely funded by donations, and brought in $18 million in contributions in 2009 alone.

According to those financial documents, accountants put the total worth of Family Radio (referred to as Family Stations on its official forms) at $72 million.

With those kind of financials -- and controversial beliefs -- it's no wonder skeptics have accused the group of running a scam.

Camping first inaccurately predicted the world would end in 1994. Even so, he has gathered even more followers -- some who have given up their homes, entire life savings and their jobs because they believe the world is ending.

Esther, the receptionist in the Oakland office, said some of her most extreme coworkers have recently driven up in fancy cars or taken their families on nice vacations as a last hurrah.

But overall, she estimates about 80% of her coworkers don't even agree with Camping's May 21 forecast. She has stuck to her work as usual, booking appointments and filling up calendars for her coworkers well beyond the May 21 date.

Meanwhile, some employees are questioning the meaning of Harold Camping's goodbye letter sent to the Family Radio mailing list last week. While he says farewell, he encourages employees to "steadfastly continue to stand with us to proclaim the Gospel through Family Radio."

Could that mean he plans on disappearing, but the company should still go about its business as usual?

The producer in Illinois said, "We're trying to guess what it means for the company. Our producers have programs done through the end of the month, so we're not looking at that having any effect on the work." Also curious is why Family Radio requested an extension to file their nonprofit paperwork. The group is required to submit financial documents in many of the states where they solicit donations, and in Minnesota they requested an extension from their July 15 deadline to November 15.

July 15th was already well past their Judgment Day prediction -- when they say believers will ascend to heaven -- so why bother requesting an extension to November?

But Family Radio's financial filings otherwise look hardly unusual for a religious nonprofit.

"At first glance, it looks like they have a lot of assets, but they actually don't have a lot of cash that they're stockpiling," said Laurie Styron, analyst with the American Institute of Philanthropy.

Most of the group's net worth is tied up in FCC broadcasting licenses, valued at $56 million. Family Radio claimed it held only $1.5 million in cash on its books at the end of 2009.

The paperwork shows Camping has so far, never taken a penny for his own salary, but Family Radio has plenty of other paid employees.

The nonprofit employed about 350 people and paid them a collective $8.3 million -- or roughly $23,000 per person -- in 2009.

What the 2009 IRS filings don't show, is how the organization's donations and expenses may have changed during 2010 and leading up to the May 21 Judgment Day prediction.

In the last few months, Family Radio billboards have popped up across the country. And the group purchased RVs to drive around the country on its evangelizing missions.

Those expenses could have changed their financial picture, but since Family Radio doesn't have to turn in their next IRS filing until November, it may not even matter.

"If people donating to this group think the world is ending on Saturday, then I'm not sure that they care," Styron said.

News Khabran / Al-Qaeda new Leader - Saif al-Adel
« on: May 19, 2011, 05:46:45 PM »

Saif al-Adel, the high-ranking Egyptian commander in Al Qaeda and longtime associate of Osama bin Laden who has reportedly been appointed the organization’s “caretaker,” is a veteran of the jihad against Soviet forces in Afghanistan, and has a reputation as a skilled operational planner and pragmatic commander.

One of the lesser-known stories about his past involves his unofficial role as “caretaker” for the Khadr family.

Egyptian-born Canadian Ahmed Said Khadr was associated with al-Adel and many of Al Qaeda’s Egyptian commanders in the late 1980s and 1990s, when he lived with his family in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

After 9/11, the Khadr family members scattered. Pakistani forces killed the family patriarch in October 2003, during a battle that left his youngest son paralyzed.

Khadr’s wife and children have since moved back to Canada and his second youngest son, Omar, is expected to return this fall from Guantanamo. The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to five war crimes in return for the deal that would allow him to serve the remainder of his sentence here.

During a series of interviews with the Toronto Star in the summer of 2007, three Khadr family members described what it was like to live among Al Qaeda’s elite in the years before 9/11.

One memorable story involving al-Adel began in early 1997, while Khadr was visiting Canada, and his wife and children were living in an Afghan compound belonging to bin Laden.

While most Egyptian leaders respected Khadr, his kids were often seen as too Western, according to those who knew the Khadrs at the time. Abdurahman, the second oldest Khadr son and so-called black sheep of his family, was of particular concern to Al Qaeda.

One day, as a convoy quickly lined up to leave the camp, Abdurahman and his older brother Abdullah got into a screaming match. They were fighting over the front seat, Abduraham said.

Shouting led to shoving, which eventually led to Abdullah running after his brother with an AK-47 pointed at his back. Their mother screamed for her boys to stop.

Bin Laden had reportedly told the family he did not want them following him to the next camp in Kandahar, but Khadr’s wife, Maha Elsamnah, begged the group to keep Abdurahman. “I couldn’t control him,” she said in an interview.

Al Qaeda managed to hang on to Abdurahman for just one night in Kabul, when the group’s members decided they couldn’t handle him, either.

It was left to al-Adel, now Al Qaeda’s new leader, to drive the teenager to the bus station.

“Do not come back until your father is with you,” Abdurahman recalled him saying. “Go to your family.” Then he bought a ticket for Abdurahman to go to Peshawar.

This wasn’t the first time the Khadr children would be in trouble. An informant who worked for the British and French intelligence services, and later wrote a book under the pseudonym Omar Nasiri, described another scene at a training camp when the Khadr boys fought.

“They had broken all the rules we had learned since our first day of training,” Nasiri wrote. “Soon, we were laughing about it, even though it wasn’t funny at all. It made us nervous.”

When the Khadr family later moved to Kabul, they lived once again near al-Adel.

Most of Al Qaeda at this time lived outside of Kandahar, but al-Adel resided in the upscale neighbourhood of Wazzer Akbar Khan, according to Elsamnah.

Many of the Egyptians in Kabul used walkie-talkies to communicate with each other. The Khadr family was given Number 15, but at some point someone said “Kareem” instead, and that name seemed to stick.

Saif al Adel was known on the radio as Number 1.

In describing Al Qaeda’s roots in his book Looming Tower, author Lawrence Wright said al-Adel travelled with bin Laden from Sudan to Afghanistan in 1996. “Saif al Adel, later to become al Qaeda’s military chief, sat in the co-pilot’s seat holding a map so he could direct the Russian pilot, who didn’t speak Arabic and whom they didn’t trust,” Wright wrote.

Many Al Qaeda leaders were paranoid about spies within the group, but Wright describes al-Adel as particularly suspicious of a “traitor in his camp.”

News of al-Adel’s appointment as an interim leader was uncovered Tuesday by Noman Benotman, a former Libyan fighter aligned with Al Qaeda, now working at London’s counter-extremism think tank, the Quilliam Foundation.

After 9/11, al-Adel’s whereabouts were a mystery. It was believed he fled to Iran after the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in December 2001 and was put under house arrest.

Benotman was reportedly told by sources that al-Adel was released this summer in exchange for kidnapped Iranian diplomats.

His release is expected to raise questions about Tehran’s role determining in Al Qaeda’s future since the killing of bin Laden earlier this month.

Al-Adel is expected to remain in the leadership role until the organization can be taken over by Egyptian doctor Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Sports Khelan / Barcelona wins 3rd straight La Liga title
« on: May 11, 2011, 09:43:14 PM »

Barcelona clinched its third straight Spanish league title on Wednesday with a 1-1 draw at Levante.
Seydou Keita headed home Xavi Hernandez's pass to put Barcelona ahead in the 28th minute, only to see Levante striker Felipe Caicedo level the score in the 40th after a mistake by Gerard Pique.
"Each league title has been tough to win," Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said. "Now it is time to enjoy it."
It was Barcelona's fifth league crown in seven seasons and 21st in its 111-year history. Real Madrid will finish runner-up for the third consecutive season.
With the domestic competition wrapped up with two games remaining, Barcelona can now turn its full attention to preparing for the Champions League final against Manchester United on May 28 at London's Wembley Stadium.
"It is a very important day for all our fans," said Keita. "Now we have to think in the final of the Champions League, which is also a very important game to win for this club."
Barcelona now has doubly fond memories of the Ciutat de Valencia ground.
In 2005, a Barcelona side then managed by Frank Rijkaard drew 1-1 thanks to Samuel Eto'o's second-half equalizer to seal its first league title in five years. That championship launched a run of successes that has included two Champions League trophies, five Spanish league titles, one Club World Cup and a Copa del Rey.
Seven years later, Barcelona still maintains five players from that same squad: Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol and Victor Valdes.Well-earned pointLevante remained undefeated in nine straight home games and the well-earned point boosted its chances of staying up.
Fullback Eric Abidal returned to the starting 11 for Barcelona for the first time since recovering from surgery to remove a liver tumour, while Keita and Dutch international Ibrahim Afellay got the nod over regular starters Andres Iniesta and Pedro Rodriguez.
As they have done against almost every opponent this season, Barcelona dominated the possession of the ball from the opening whistle.
Levante took seven minutes to cross the halfway line, but once it did the Spanish minnow dared to threaten the defending champions area with strikes by Francisco Nadal and ex-Barcelona youth product Xavi Torres.
Barcelona appeared to miss Pedro's speed and Iniesta's dribbling early on as it failed to penetrate Levante's defence. But Xavi soon picked out Keita charging forward with a perfectly placed long pass that the Mali midfielder expertly redirected into the top left corner of the net.
Barcelona had the contest under control when defender Gerard Pique completely miskicked an attempted clearance and gifted Caicedo the ball in the area for the Ecuadorean international to fire past goalkeeper Valdes for his 13th goal of the season.
Messi made a spectacular effort to wiggle through four Levante defenders in the 58th, but his stabbed shot hit the post.
Abidal was applauded by the entire stadium when he was replaced by Andreu Fontas midway through the second half.
Messi again came within inches of the winner after slaloming by a trio of defenders in the 72nd, but from then on neither team threatened as both were content to split the points.
Barcelona spent the last 10 minutes passing the ball back and forth — just like during the draw in 2005 — as its fans cheered "Champions! Champions!" in the stands.

Q1: Who knows about Roman Empire or Egyptian Civilization?
Q2: Who knows about First Indian Civilization?

I know more than 90% knows the answer to the first one. But it is an astonishing fact that the first civilization the world ever saw is Indian Civilization - Its called the Harapan Civilization. It was in 3500 BC, about 2500-3000 Years before the Romans became civilized. It had a reported population of about 2.5 M back in those days. Considered to be most developed and largest civilization of its time.

But here comes my question, Then why even being brown, we are hindering from some of these facts and don't know them, even though we do know about French or Egypt

I leave you with that, we will talk more. Peace
