We have a lot of different customs that play a significant role in punjabi weddings. Can we make a list of them and provide a little bit of the history behind them?!
For example: The groom has wears a "sehra" (or at least used to) - what's the history behing it? Another one, bhabhi surmaa paundi groom de (I think it's the bhabhi : I'm a bit rusti on these things :pagel:)
i know few of the customs that i can list but i have no idea why they are performed : and i think the customs differ depending on what area of punjab your from right?

2nd Victim of Elk Grove Sikh Shooting Dies; Family Asking for LeadsChris Biele & Sam CohenFOX40 News4:11 PM PDT, April 15, 2011ELK GROVEThe second victim of a possibly racially-motivated shooting in Elk Grove has died.Last month Surinder Singh and Gurmej Atwal were walking near their homes on E. Stockton Way when they were shot. Singh died at the scene, Atwal was taken to the hospital and has been on life support since the March 4th incident.
Atwal's family told FOX40 they made the tough decision Friday to take him off life support. Kamaljit Atwal, the victim's son, said his father's condition had deteriorated as of late.
"My family didn't want to punish him anymore because...he went through a lot, but he fought a pretty tough fight," Kamaljit Atwal said.
The family hopes this sad news will renew interest in the unsolved case and inspires the community to report any information they remember about that night. Cops spoke with dozens of neighbors, but do not have any suspect descriptions or motive at this time.
After the shooting, they did say they were looking for a brown Ford F-150 pickup truck seen driving away from the crime.
Atwal and Singh were both Sikhs, and were wearing traditional Dastar headwear.
