Almost every religion has sacrifices, but what about those so called proper sikhs with turbans, who drink alcohol everyday? And What about those patthi's who are caught watching porn on their phones and secretly drinking when they are suppose to be reading guru granth sahib. Two days ago there was a fight for pardangi at our local guardwara. They all picked up swords, Six people got arrested and one got seriously injured. Just because you wear a turban does not make you a proper sikh. There are very few people in this world, who are proper sikhs. Does that make me a better sikh than all of these people who drink and do all these things wearing a turban?
i''ll try to answer each point... Almost every religion has sacrifices, Really? First of all I don’t agree with that statement. And if we do take in consideration that every religion has made sacrifices…Sikhism is the only religion that I have read about which has people who went through the worst cruelty an human being can think of not only for their own religions sake but for another religion (Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji- sacrificed his life to save Hinduism). And yeah if it was so easy to become a sikh and not follow the rules that are set to be a “proper sikh” as you say…then why did Bhai Taru Singh Ji, got his scalp scraped but refused to cut his hair. Yeah possibly, it was due to because rules which he lived by mattered more than his life to him. (Note: sacrifices included, getting your scalp scraped..kids were cut into pieces and thrown into mothers laps so they can give up on their religion and it goes on and on you can go read about it at your own time.) but what about those so called proper sikhs with turbans, who drink alcohol everyday? Like I said before, wearing a turban doesn’t make you a sikh. If you do follow the rules that are set…you wouldn’t be drinking alcohol to start with. And What about those patthi's who are caught watching porn on their phones and secretly drinking when they are suppose to be reading guru granth sahib. Now that’s because most of us don’t understand how valuable our religion/culture is to us and we take it for granted and we don’t follow the rules..and its pretty sad.Two days ago there was a fight for pardangi at our local guardwara. They all picked up swords, Six people got arrested and one got seriously injured. Just because you wear a turban does not make you a proper sikh. There are very few people in this world, who are proper sikhs. Like I said being a sikh has nothing to do with ur appearance. There are RULES! Which are set from the time of Guru JI and if one can not follow them..they have no right to call themselves a Sikh. That’s how it is. If you can’t deal with it, its your problem you can go read about it. Just someone who happens to wear a turban and “looks” like a sikh doesn’t make them a sikh…it’s the deeds you make and the rehat you have to follow…Dasam Patsah ji ne hi keha “menu sikh nalo rehat pyari” …that explains it all :)Does that make me a better sikh than all of these people who drink and do all these things wearing a turban? That one is answered above.

w/e then kill someone over religion. No one ever told me or anyone that I know that they are less of a sikh because they don't wear a turban. Like I said people are too crazy about religion overseas. I don't consider my self a very religion person, but I still believe in god and go to temple. Go to a temple and find out yourself, you are less likely to see young boys wearing turbans. Do people tell them to leave temple? No, Because were in 21st century not 15th century. I know a person is suppose to wear a turban, but my post was an OPINION not from a book.
and its a shame on our religion that you dont see very many young people following it ...just because you wear a turban and you dont cut your hair doesnt make you any more of a sikh...like Gill_SS has posted and said several times that inorder to be a proper sikh and to be call a sikh you need to follow rahet..and the reason people don't tell you to leave temple is not because your not sikh or just cause your hair cut BUT it is because our religion welcomes everyone and doesn't descriminate, however, there are set of rules for one to follow. I'm sorry if it was that easy being a sikh then why are there so many sacrifices made to save sikhism? i understand that its ur own opinion ...but the way you present your opinion it can send out misleading information on Sikhism.
