ਮੁੰਡਾ-ਕੁੜੀ ਬੱਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਤੋਂ ਬੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਗਲੀ ਸੀਟ ਉਪਰ ਬੈਠ ਗਏ। ਬੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਬੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀਆਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਦੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸੀਟਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ। ਬੱਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਡਕਟਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਫਿਰ ਮੁਸਕਰਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਟੇਪ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ 'ਤੇ ਭੱਦਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਗਾਣਾ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪੇਂਡੂ ਜਿਹੀ ਇਕ ਔਰਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾ ਕੇ ਬੋਲੀ, 'ਅੱਜਕਲ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ-ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਭੋਰਾ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਜੋੜ ਜੋੜ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ, ਅਵਾਰਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਦੇ।' ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨੇ ਘੂਰ ਕੇ ਔਰਤ ਵੱਲ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਪਰ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ।

ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨੇ ਕੰਡਕਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਸੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਕੰਡਕਟਰ ਨੇ ਖਚਰੀ ਹਾਸੀ ਹੱਸਦਿਆਂ ਦੋ ਟਿਕਟਾਂ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਫੜਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਬੱਸ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੋਸਟਲ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੁਕੀ। ਕੁੜੀ ਨੇ ਹੰਝੂਆਂ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨੇ ਕੁੜੀ ਦਾ ਬੈਗ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਤੇ ਬੱਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਤਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਜਾਣ-ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਬੋਲਿਆ, 'ਭੈਣੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖੀਂ, ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੇ ਬਾਪੂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਗਿਐ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਨਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵੀਰ, ਭੋਰਾ ਫਿਕਰ ਨਾ ਕਰੀਂ। ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਾਊਂ।'

ਕੰਡਕਟਰ ਨੇ ਟੇਪ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਰ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੁਣ ਸਿਰ ਸੁੱਟੀ ਬੈਠੀਆਂ ਸਨ।  :smile:

51-year-old Oak Creek police officer Lt. Brian Murphy was shot eight to nine times, and other responding officers carried him away from the scene, and he was taken to Froedtert Hospital.

The prayers of our community go out to Lt. Brian Murphy and we hope he has a quick and full recovery.

Police say they got the initial call about the attack at 10:25 a.m. Sunday. Murphy, 51, was among the first authorities to arrive on scene where suspect Wade Michael Page allegedly killed six people. The temple is located in the suburb of Oak Creek, Wis. about 11 miles south of Milwaukee.

Murphy was ambushed when he stopped to help a victim, Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards told reporters Monday. He said that Murphy was shot eight to nine times with a handgun at close range. Though he was wearing a bullet-proof vest, Murphy was hit in his extremities and suffered a serious wound in his neck.

When officers went to check on Murphy, he signaled them to go into the temple to help other victims, Edwards said.
"He waved them off … and told them to go into temple to assist those in there," the police chief said.


Sikhs for Justice, a national human rights organization, is pledging $10,000 award to Lt. Murphy for his actions on August 5th.

“This tragic incident is just one more example of the need for all ethnic groups to support each other and raise their voices against violence in our country and abroad. Since 9/11 there have been innumerable instance of hate crimes against members of the Sikh community. Our government must take urgent steps to educate the country about the Sikh population and help put an end to these horrific and deadly acts of violence. Our organization, Sikhs for Justice, is proudly pledging a $10,000 award to Lieutenant Brian Murphy, the officer wounded in the incident.”
