Over 100 Hindu and Sikh Pakistanis displaced by the unprecedented floods in Nowshera have shifted to Lahore where they are sheltered in Gurdwaras and Mandirs.
Whereas 40 people belonging to Sikh and Hindu communities of Pakistan have shifted to houses of their relatives in Peshawar and Khyber Agency.
Traders from these minority communities in Nowshera have lost their shops and other businesses alike as the worst floods in the history of Pakistan have destroyed almost everything.
The worship places of these communities have also been damaged badly.
According to Evacuee Trust Property Board(ETBP), a body that looks after the interests of the country's minority communities, over 2,000 Sikh and Hindus have been displaced by the floods in Pakistan. Most of them belong to Kyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces.
About 150 these displaced minorities have taken shelter at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore and Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasanabdal while 100 more are sheltering at Gurdwara Janamasthan in Nankana Sahib. In Sindh the minority community has been affected by floods in Kashmor, Kandhkot, Ghauspur, Omrakot, Karampur and Thal areas. They have also been shifted to different Gurdwaras in Lahore.
