He had a few good songs way back, but that's about it. But I hope with Jay Sean going mainstream in America, we may see some Punjabi/Bhangra collaborations. I'll also add that Jay Sean is signed onto Baby's Cash Money Records, so his quality of songs will never improve. LOL

Yeah, he's getting extremely popular in America for working with Lil Wayne. His peak position was #1 on Billboard 100, replacing Black Eyed Peas.  Here's the full info:

2009–present: All or Nothing with Cash Money Records

On 15 October 2008 during the MOBO Awards, Jay Sean announced that he had signed with the American hip-hop oriented record label Cash Money Records distributed via Universal Republic Records making him the first British Asian singer to sign with an American label. His American-debut single was "Down" featuring American superstar rapper and label mate Lil Wayne, and topped the Billboard Hot 100 replacing Black Eyed Peas.

At the 2009 UK Asian Music Awards (AMA), Jay Sean won three awards, including "Best Male", "Best Urban Act" and "Best Album" for My Own Way. He met with Rishi Rich, Juggy D and H-Dhami during the ceremony.

On his first interview in America with MTV IGGY, Jay announced that he was recording five new songs for his then upcoming release of My Own Way (U.S. edition), one of which was his American-debut single with Lil Wayne, later titled "Down". Jay discussed a collaboration with Akon at the 2009 Grammy Awards, in addition to recording a song with Nadine Coyle and believes the album will be released in third quarter of 2009. However, the album title has now been confirmed to be All or Nothing and will feature brand new songs.

Jay Sean has also featured on a song called "Written On Her" alongside Birdman for the CEO’s next project, released on 23 June 2009 on iTunes. This song was played during an interview on Westwood Radio 1 with Birdman and Jay Sean. Jay Sean has featured on Skepta's single "Lush" released on 10 June 2009 on iTunes. He will also feature on Kevin Rudolf's single "Cash Money Heroes" with Birdman and Lil Wayne.

Jay Sean was in early September 2009 nominated for the 30 Under 30 award.

His single "Down":
    #1 Top
    #1 Pop Songs
    #1 Radio Songs
    #6 Digital Songs
    #7 Ringtones
    #3 Canadian Hot 1...

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara told a news conference it was the largest hedge fund case ever prosecuted and marked the first use of court-authorized wiretaps to capture conversations by suspects in an insider trading case.

He said the case should cause financial professionals considering insider trades in the future to wonder whether law enforcement is listening.

"Greed is not good," Bharara said. "This case should be a wake-up call for Wall Street."

love it, good post!

Punjabi Stars / Fauja Singh replaces David Beckham for Adidas
« on: October 15, 2009, 11:06:36 PM »

He replaced David Beckham as Adidas’s new poster boy. On the Adidas 'Nothing Is Impossible' advertising campaigns billboards, spread across London, he was sitting cross-legged; as if cooling his heals after a day’s work out, peeping over Londoners, tired and overworked, telling them the secrets of his unfailing energy.

Fauja Singh, Britain’s most popular Sikh is 98 now, and the oldest runner in the London Marathon.

He is threatening to break his own world record of 5.40 hours in the 90 plus age bracket that he set previously. While running Marathon races in London, New York and Toronto, he raised thousands of pounds for various charities promoting Sikh culture around the world. He has also raised money for B.L.I.S.S., a charity dedicated to the care for premature babies. He describes it as the ‘oldest running for the youngest.

Fauja’s jogging skills were developed on an Indian farm in Punjab, and then at the magical age of 81, when he moved to the UK, his love for the sport became more “serious."

Fauja Singh (born April 1, 1911) is a Sikh marathon runner in his nineties from India who is a world-record holder in his age bracket. His current personal best time for the London marathon is 6 hours 2 minutes, and his marathon record, for age 90-plus, is 5 hours 40 minutes.

Fauja Singh shot to fame, when aged 89, he completed the gruelling 26.2 mile distance in 6 hours and 54 minutes. This knocked 58 minutes off the previous world best for anyone in the 90 plus age bracket. The career of this extraordinary Marathon runner is closely supervised by his personal trainer Harminder Singh. He says ‘he can still run for a few more years. And perhaps he might be the oldest man to run a Marathon.

Fauja Singh came to London in 1992 to live with his son after his wife’s death in his village in Jalandhar. He says ‘Sitting at home was really killing. Most elderly people in Britain eat a rich diet, don’t move about and only travel in cars, and that makes them sick’. He wasn’t prepared to go the same way. So he took up jogging initially to beat the boredom of sitting at home.
