Because the SGPC is trying to please multiple groups of people. "Sant Samaj" wants to remain tied to the Hindu/Bikrami Calendar. Sikhs overseas want a calendar unique to Sikhism and want to avoid the problems of having a gurpurab come twice in a year (which happens under a Bikrami calendar). Sikhs in India are divided on the issue I think.

I wasn't going to reply when you said this in my topic. But now I will.

I just noticed my Sikh calendar and it also states December 26 as the Shaheedi Jorh mela Fatehgarh Sahib Sirhind. The dates have fluctuated over time, consider that Vaisakhi that used to be on April 13 is now celebrated on April 14. I have a feeling it is due to the Nanakshahi calendar (but I could be wrong). So there is no need to be strict about the dates. The idea is that you remember their shaheedi and if you remember it on December 26, that is similarly great.

PS: The sahibzadas stayed in Suba Sirhand's prison for 1 night and 3 days, I think. History doesn't happen in a day.

I'm not saying do not celebrate Christmas, but while you celebrate Christmas, also celebrate the Shaheedi of Guru Gobind Singh ji's 2 sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh.
