Definitely deserves taking a look at. I would think Sikhs that lived in Iraq have probably moved away, but if there are any Sikhs still living there, it should be their duty to look after the gurdwara.

I skimmed it. But I've read about this before a couple of times. I really just wanted to see what the source is. If you want to form a unbiased opinion about any subject, you have to start from trusted sources (even though they may have small biases as well).

Most punjabi people will not become Amritdhari Sikhs. In fact, more and more are likely to not follow the Sikh tradition. It is a trend in our community to be more westernized. There will of course always be people that follow the tradition. I'd commend your bf for even thinking about it, because in today's world, people brush off even the thought of changing to be more traditional.
Of course, it is a personal choice with everyone.

I wouldn't expect accurate information from a "blog", because I couldn't trust the research enough.
The situation is very alarming. They're finally talking about the subject of "fiscal responsibility" in the government these days. But I doubt anything will come out of it until the wars are over.
Titlee, I like your logic about everyone not asking for their money back at any given time. I'd add to your rebuttal that most countries have debt, but the amount of debt that US has is staggering.
