This message is for PJ VIP/Mods/Admins only.

Sat Sri Akal Staff waleyo,

I was coming to Punjab at the end of January 2010. And I thought our staff members should meet somewhere in Ludhiana for lunch/party on February 13, 2010. Let me know if any of you PJ Staff is up for this. It'd be good for all us to sit down and talk with people we've talked to for years online. If Ludhiana is too far or the date does not fit you, suggest a different place/time.

Apna banda Dev rehnda Ludhiane khaas, othey jana behtar rahu. Ludhiana di gal hai ke oh Chandigarh, Nawanshahr, Phagwara waleya nu brabar door hai.

Sat Sri Akal ji,

At PJ, we have always tried to promote girls that best promote PJ, but it is very hard, because most of the time girls don't do something new/special/different to earn such a reward. Manmohniye was one of those exceptions.

Now, we're back with some promotions for girls:

- Khand Mishri (MarjaniHeer) - Local mod - First of all, she has about 13,000 posts. She has been a popular in Punjabi Janta, as you can see from PJ Award Ceremony 2009. We wanted to give her something, where she has given so much to Punjabi Janta. She is very popular in Shayari and religious section and we wish that she does something special for them. So she will be a local moderator in both forums. We hope that she brings new topics and new ideas to our Forum.

- Sweet Allarh Mutiyar (sweet like honey) - Local mod - She has about 800-900 pics in gallery. Lots of these pics are put into albums. And she wants to work more with pics and gallery. So we will be making her a Local mod of Pics forum, and she is also a PJ Gallery Team member for a long time. We hope that she will connect our PJ users more with PJ Gallery, by posting nice things to Pics section.

Finally, a well deserved promotion to our friend and member, Rahul (rahul2cbz4u). He has been a mediator, friend, and advisor in lots of tough times. He's extremely active in cars section, and he participates in pj competitions and voting. As you all know, I (Grenade Singh) am sometimes very busy, and what rahul sometimes does is send around alerts to tell me whats going on, so that I can handle situations and do the needful. I don't think there's a user on PJ that is not a friend of Rahul. That really speaks volumes for his respect and reputation on PJ. I hope that he continues to contribute meaningfully to the Forum and help us out from time to time. He will be promoted to Global Mod.

Thank you all Admins/Mods/VIPs for your suggestions and recommendations.

Tuhada Shubchintak,
Grenade Singh

« on: January 06, 2010, 09:53:03 PM »
Sat Sri Akal PJ vasio,

If anybody has seen the Jokes Majaak section, then you must have seen SonnenKinder's great work. I can never say a bigger thanks to a person whose posts have made me laugh out loud everyday. I'm sure we all appreciate the valuable opinions that he shares with us. His opinions may differ from some (like me), but they are valuable nonetheless.

So, we've decided to make this man, SonnenKinder, a local moderator for Jokes Majak forum. I hope this helps him edit/modify his own posts and other posts in the forum.

Thank you once again...

PS: If anybody knows anybody who is doing excellent work, please remember to praise their work.

News Khabran / Homeless Punjabi Sikhs in Southall UK
« on: December 28, 2009, 02:02:35 PM »
Videos from Help the SOUTHALL SIKH Homeless - S.W.A.T- The Homeless in Southall

Homeless Sikhs in Southall Part 2

S.W.A.T - Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team.

Contact info: 07943118441 (UK)
Email s5dhillon at aol

Did you know there are over 100 Sikh young men from Punjab living on the streets of Southall? We have encountered 2 men over the age of 55 living on the streets.

Where are they living?
In Dustbins
Cemeteries
Disused Garages
Under Bridges

To cope many have turned to class A Drugs, such as Heroin and Crack Cocaine. The reason for this is to cope with the cold, to suppress their hunger and to help them sleep on the streets.

Many are suffering from serious health conditions such as Hyperthermia, Scabies, Gangrene and cannot get immediate medical attention.

What are we doing to help:

Providing Drug care.
Providing Clean clothing.
Providing Sleeping bags.
Providing Hot food.
Providing moral support.
Assisting with those who want to return back to Punjab.
Putting them in contact with health centers.
In the process of commissioning a documentary to be made to highlight the plight of these men.

What are the Local Gurudwaras doing?
Sri Guru Singh Sabah is making sure none of these boys get turned away for Langar and if they are unfit to enter Langar is provided outside for them.

Allowing us to appeal to the sangat for any kind of support required and highlighting this issue.

What are the local churches doing?

Providing hot meals.
Providing church halls for drop in centers for the homeless.
Hot showers.
Clean clothes
Counseling service.

As we know Christianity is a missionary religion which through its teaching aims to convert any individual coming through their doors.

To date we can confirm that they have converted 2 Sikh men through their love and compassion.
How many more will be converted.

Who will offer these boys help next? Mosques?

How can you help?

Contact us if you have any Jackets gloves scarves shoes etc.
Let us know if you have contacts that can help in any way ie:

Accommodation

Shower facilities

Immigration

Medication

Funds

Any ideas are welcome and if you have the same issue in your own area we are more than willing to help.

Explanation of Problem
If you noticed recently, Velly Jatt (a global mod) had come back after a long time just to ban some guys in a fight when tarn was banned (I determined this after a PJ Chat Mod reported this problem and checking logs). Now, I don't think I've seen velly jatt on the forum/chat in a long long time. His last posts show how far back he used to be active on PJ.

Solution
Now I'm thinking we should demote users that do not come to PJ and do not want to continue their responsibilities. So we can make space for new global mods and give other people a chance. It looks bad that on our staff list, we have global mods who do not come here regularly (or only show up once in a while).  Last time we did this kind of a demotion in PJ, people were shocked. I think this time I want to do it a little different; I want to give a chance to these global mods and PJ Vip members a chance to continue to their moderatorship/vip-status in PJ, or simply tell us that they do not want to continue, or just not reply (LOL).

People I'm considering demoting are:
Global Mods:
- nikki_heer
- Velly Jatt

PJ Gabru's who may lose their status: Bhoond Bharhkhile da papa (bad username), ßĹÚŦŦℳÁŚŤΞℛஇ, jatt crazy, Irristable punjabi, desi ahata

PJ Pari's who may lose their status: American Angel, Punjaban Kurhi, Punjaban Jatti

PS: This topic will be locked, so ONLY MODS/SUB-ADMINS may respond. Please share your views!

(Please note: all these VIPusers have not logged into PJ since like 4-5 months)

Sports Khelan / Darsh Singh - First Sikh in NCAA Basketball
« on: December 12, 2009, 11:23:26 PM »
Darsh Preet Singh plays NCAA basketball for Trinity university as a co-captain. Hope this is a inspiration for Sikhs!

Darsh Flies High

Always a winner – that’s Darsh Singh
By Justin Parker

Link to Darsh Singh Gallery

Anyone who has been to Trinity’s men’s basketball games during the past four years has probably heard fans chanting for Coach Pat Cunningham to put fan favorite Darsh Singh in the game.  This season, fans haven’t had to chant for Darsh – the team co-captain has appeared in every game, and every time he plays, he makes a statement.

As a follower of the Sikh religion, Darsh speaks volumes by wearing a turban and allowing his beard to grow. In fact, it’s believed that he is the only turbaned Sikh to play in an NCAA basketball game. The Sikh faith, which is around 500 years old, has more than 23 million followers, but it remains a mystery to some Westerners.

Darsh’s appearance can sometimes bring out the worst in people.  At a young age, he was forced to come to terms with the fact that his appearance made some people suspect him of being involved in terrorism.  But Darsh doesn’t let it get to him.  He says those very prejudices helped to solidify his faith and make him the person he is today.  His statement involves one of his firmest beliefs: “If you don’t believe in what you’re doing, don’t do it.”

Darsh also involves himself in numerous groups and organizations.  He is not only a basketball player for the Tigers, but he is also a resident mentor and an active member of TUVAC.  He serves on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, is a part of Students Taking Action Now: Darfur and Save Darfur, and he is president of the Students Creating Awareness of the Sikh Faith. He has volunteered in various Sikh organizations in Chicago, Maryland, and Washington D.C., and is a repeat guest lecturer at a leadership development program.  Darsh also was recently selected as a Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges recipient.

He is an engineering science major who is affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and who has been on the SCAC Honor Roll (minimum qualification of 3.20 GPA) for three of his four years at Trinity.  Following graduation, he plans to work while he pursues his professional engineering license and then go on to get his MBA.  Darsh is minoring in mathematics to prepare him for a position involving investing and budget planning, among other things.

For now, he is enjoying his time as a Trinity student.  Darsh is always eager to share his beliefs with those willing to listen, and he credits the Trinity community’s support and encouragement for enhancing his college experience.  He no longer notices when fans of other teams point to his “different” look. He’s too busy trying to help his team win basketball games.
