Knowledge / Re: Why do Mosquito bites itch?« on: February 24, 2010, 08:29:59 PM »Some studies suggest that taking thiamine (vitamin B1) 25mg to 50 mg three times per day is effective in reducing mosquito bites. This safe vitamin apparently produces a skin odor that is not detectable by humans, but is disagreeable to pregnant mosquitoes. It seems to be especially effective for those people with large allergic reactions. Thiamine takes about 2 weeks before the odor fully saturates the skin. Garlic may work in the same way (except, of course, the odor is detectable by humans), but I have seen no scientific studies supporting this. One recent study was unable to demonstrate that garlic was an effective mosquito repellant. Although, this may not be so ideal :pagel: 7778
Knowledge / Re: Youngest Mother in the History« on: February 24, 2010, 08:18:36 PM »This is neither an isolated incident, or something that has never happened in every place on earth. This is rare, but not unheard of. Shameful that this child had to endure the act that got her pregnant, the pregnancy, the birth itself and living with the nightmare of every element of it for the rest of her life. And we call ourselves human? Makes you wonder what chemicals/genetics induced her fertility at such a young age. :/ Was abortion noi available at that time frame? Also, wondering to what happened to the "dog" that commited such heinous crime?! 7779
