see sometimes when we call our friends tu barrra kanajr aa sachi....its a one hella of a bad word... but it is not precived in the same manner litteraly ....
i find it wrong too ..but on the same hand everyone has different comfort level with one another and they can joke upto levels which others find it disgusting..
i am sorry if i still didnt put my point across...but thts how i feel.. i hope u got my point.
yes, but what I'm talking about is that these people aren't your friends. They are your family members and should be treated with respect!

How can something negative be possibly perceived in a positive manner? Regardless, some of them are extremely harsh, I find it disgusting.

In punjab, it's become a sign of maradpunna from what I gather. They drink proudly, as if, it is suppose to increase the testosterone levels. Viahava vich dekheya ni kiddan tunn hoyi phirde hunde, jiwe kade sharaab dekhan nu milli ni hundi, bas pee lao halke hoye kutteya wangu. There's 2 reasons why people drink in punjab: 1) Depression/Burre hallat 2) Apna maradapunna dikahun layi - majority fits in this category!

I was just browsing the forums and rain across the "bolliyan" topic. I've noticed most of these bolis are from the "bahu" jo apni sass nu ja nanad nu taahne maardi or something along the lines.
Is this a sign of significant dysfunction in our extended families?
There has to be some type of tension amongst the family as a new member joins them but reading through these bolis, some are pretty harsh!
Example: Meri sass badi kapatti, meri sass badi kapatti, pairi paun na deve jutti, main v jutti pauni aa, mundeyaa raazi reh ja gusse teri maa khadkaun aa
I'm sure they are a way of just teasing each other. However, for such annotations to occur, there has had to be signficant tension among the members. It just astonishes me that it occured to such extent!
Anyway, I'm starting to babble. Lets share some thoughts!
