That last one regarding food dyes. Red 40 is already banned in the UK. Funnily enough it has affected Indian restaurants as they use it in their tandoori dishes.

« on: June 08, 2010, 03:13:57 PM »
But most of the Pharaohs were then relocated to The Valley of The Kings at Luxor. Some were buried at the valley without having a pyramid to their names.

It is also interesting that Egyptian history does not tally with the Bible. The Bible draws a lot of history from Egyptian myths and legends. The story of Moses from the first testament is one such story. But there is no record of the parting of the Red Sea in Egyptian history. It is thought that Ramses was the Pharaoh at the time of Moses but there is no conclusive proof of this.

I visited Egypt in 2006, it is absolutely amazing that they built such wonders all those thousands of years ago.

News Khabran / Fox tried to eat sleeping toddler twins
« on: June 08, 2010, 02:03:03 PM »
Shocking piece of news from London, UK.

It has been fairly warm here in London. A couple who left their door slightly ajar heard screams of their nine month old twin girls. When they went to investigate they found an urban fox in the bedroom. It had savaged them very badly. Both girls have been hospitalised and are in a serious condition.

Urban foxes are quite a problem in London; they have lost the natural instinct for hunting and live a scavenger’s life.

The sad thing here is that the Indian Government has let Union Carbide get away with murder. Murder on a large scale to say the least. Could you imagine that happening in America or Europe. Contrast that with the BP disaster in the G of M and the reaction of the US Government. Of course BP should be held accountable as should Union Carbide have been. It is indeed shocking.

KudratGarewal ji

That is a very comprehensive list of circumstances that could cause high levels of stress. I would imagine that many people suffer from more than one or two of those situations at the same time.

It is indeed a sad indictment on the lifestyles we live.

in india yes in here not much
I got a license which is learner bike and ill get a full license next year . in here you can get a full license only after 15 months of your learners. So once i get that I am getting a R1 or something like ninja ,cbr1000rr, gsx1300 R(hayabusa) will see how we go
That's good. I had an Enfield in India a couple of years ago but it was a borrowed one from my cousin. I ran it for about six weeks. I loved it.

I have a Harley Davidson Fatboy Screamin’ Eagle which I bought 2 year ago in London. It really is brilliant for cruising on London's Kings Road. The exhaust sounds like a thousand shotguns going off. It turns heads where ever it goes. It has the 1688cc (103.00 cubic inches) engine. It’s not a speed bike. It is just a lovely bike that does exactly what it is supposed to do.

This debate started when u commented that i shud hv included Henry Paulson too. I explained i only listed politicians and Henry Paulson hd never been a politician. He was apointed Treasury Sec. by President Bush and later his appointment was approved by Senate. And he even resigned as CEO of Goldman Sach prior to his appointment.  Questions remain about Paulson's interest, despite the fact that he had no direct financial interest in Goldman, since he had sold his entire stake in the firm prior to becoming Treasury Secretary. I am just stating plain facts and not advocating him. Loads of rumours were spread about him like he was shot at and died but he is still alive and healthy, if i am not wrong. Whether he is corrupt or not has not been established. And secondly he cant be classified as a Politician.

SonnenKinder

Well, okay I accept that and will say fair comment.

I hope you don’t feel offended or in any way think I was picking an argument; I wasn’t. I was just making an observation in general, you might think that cynical, maybe it is but no offence was intended.

But it is good to debate.

Take care

Probably, but they are a very good track car and a lot of fun.

I've also got a motorbike which I don't get much chance to ride as I am away from home a lot. Have you ever fancied a bike?

You are giving a whole new turn to this discussion. Bone of contention is u r describing civil servants or CEOs as Politicians which they are not. Politicians make laws while civil servants implement those laws and watch that those laws are followed by CEOs.I dint say CEOs are not corrupt. I said, you cnt define a CEO as a politician and it is correct. Even CEOs and Civil servants are not same. Civil servants work for public while CEOs work for their respective companies. A person is nominated or elected for a political post while a civil servant is appointed. And yea, m not an american like u think. I am an european born n brought up in ur neighborhood, juss 2 hours flying distance from ur country. Well if u still insist to weigh politicians and CEOs on same scale, u can but i dun agree. Period!!!So i listed Politicians in that post and not so called unelected politicians or CEOs.

But of course we aren’t talking about CEO of companies; therefore I am not defining a CEO as such to be a politician.  However we are talking about CEOs of companies, such as Goldman Sachs, who have been appointed to very senior government positions and are unelected. I might be wrong but Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is one such person. That’s a treasury secretary to the Governments treasury, not some company. I am being very specific here and not taking a scatter gun approach to all CEOs. As you know he and others like him within the Bush Government were extremely powerful within that political regime. We can argue whether these people are politicians or not but what is inescapable is the fact that they play a role in politics. Also, I know what the Civil Service do and what their job is too!!
As to you being a European or American, I have no axe to grind either way. I don’t expect you to agree with me. But what is good is that there is someone at another keyboard who is willing to debate. I thank you for that.

More additions to Punjabi Folk Dances..

1.Area no 1 Belongs to Bhangra..

2.In Area 1+2 Both Bhangra and Luddi were popular

3.Area no 2 is sub- montane region of Punjab where "Patti" type of Ludi dance is Popular.

4.Jhumar was more popular in 3a, 3b and 3c areas of Punjab.

From Historical Point of view one thing need to notice is that Jhumar was used have more area Popularity than rest of Folk dances even more than Bhangra..
So in this different areas Jhumar was popular with different names..
a) As 3A areas lies b/w River RAVI & CHENAB so it was named as "RAVI DA JHUMAR".
b)As 3B lies b/w River SATLUJ & RAVI In this area Special Form oh Jhumar was popular known as "NEELI DA JHUMAR".
c) 3c area comes b/w RAVI, CHENAB & JEHLAM so this was area of BLAUCHs and Jhumar was popular as "Lambian Da Jhumar".

5, In Area NO- 4 Malwai Gidha Was popluar.

GIDHA IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS MAP AS ITS POPULAR IN BOTH EAST AND WEST PUNJAB. THIS DANCE WAS POPULAR FROM RIVER "GHAGGAR" TO "RIVER INDUS" i.e IN THE ENTIRE SAPT SINDHU.

Kudrat Grewal Ji

That is very interesting. Have you a link to that map or other info around it such as an article one could read.

Who are unelected politicians? never heard of them. Dude a politican is one who holds a political office not an executive office. Who is actively involved in politics, specially in party politics. And for your kind information, it is not me who listed those persons as most corrupt politicians of world. It is a  NGO Transparency International a very renowned name the world over. If you dont agree to their list, suggest your own names to them.

Listen mate, perhaps it is different on your side of the pond. In the UK we call it the Civil Service, who are unelected but have a great influence on politics, some of them go onto stand for office. When I used the term "unelected politicians" I used it loosely, but they are there. Now, even you would agree that your equivalent of our Civil Service does have a huge influence on how America is run. As I said already, Paulson and co are, to me, as corrupt as the next guy even though he might be in darkest Africa. Now many would say that they aren't politicians and I suppose on paper they are not, but their influence is uncanny. Don’t worry, we’ve got our own Paulsons over here too.

So that must be our starting point. I am sorry that you should take it personally what I say. Furthermore, if you have brought such a list to this message board - that’s fine; but don’t expect to open a thread and not have another’s opinion posted on said thread, which renders me to feel I don’t have to suggest anything to the NGO Transparency International for the purposes of this discussion with your good self.

But brother, or brother dude if you wish, I’m sure we can agree to disagree and I am sure we will on many other things too without getting our kachi in a twist.

Well it’s that time again. 2am UK time.  Perhaps talk tomorrow. Take care. SSA.

they're some of my favorite names of all time:
Fateh Singh
Zorawar Singh
Ajit Singh
Jujhar Singh

dekh singhan da kidhan de nam hunde si... ajj kal de naam dasda:
lucky
pappu
sunny
velly
mani
ravi
SWAH DI KHEH hahah

Grenade Singh, it is very true what you say. I met a couple from Canada who have named their son KEVINveer. Mera dil karda si ke mein ohna de ik bat ke thappar mara.

But still it is worth remembering that some Northern Indian names go back to the days of Alexander the Great. Also the influence of Persian Farsi which shows some degree in determining the origin of our names.

You ask "Were those wall street (cone men) politicians.?"

But I should say conmen. These conmen were unelected politicians, who ran the financial affairs for George Bush's Treasury. Ex Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is one such person. If you dig deep enough you will see that there were many more like him serving in that government. I could list a lot of them; at least 12. it is very easy to list obvious characters from third world countries such as those you list above. But sometimes corruption is much closer to home; it is often cloak and dagger /:).

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would put it on anyway.

Arti from Harimandir Sahib. Its from Youtube. What is interesting is the last comment made on Youtube just below the video. It is by a Muslim.

It says
"I am Muslim by faith and am from Punjab Pakistan. I had heard it first time about 22 year ago in silsila but didn't know what it was. I actually did not know the words either. so imagine, it took me so long (just downloaded silsila for this) just to find what the starting words are "Dhnasri Mohala 1." Just searched and found this and then looked up what it means on wikipedia. Hazrat baba nanak read it to some priests. Wow so beautiful Hamd to almighty. Love it. "
