London got issues! Can we include you in this category, LondonPunjabi? :pagel:

I change daily dear.

But it is interesting; I would imagine New York to be no different or for that matter any other city. It’s just the way humans are; lazy by nature.

News Khabran / Man marries pillow
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:23:32 PM »
True love can take many forms. In this case, it has taken the form of a Korean man falling in love with, and eventually marrying, a large pillow with a picture of a woman on it

Lee Jin-gyu fell for his 'dakimakura' - a kind of large, huggable pillow from Japan, often with a picture of a popular anime character printed on the side.

In Lee's case, his beloved pillow has an image of Fate Testarossa, from the 'magical girl' anime series Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.

Now the 28-year-old otaku (a Japanese term that roughly translates to somewhere between 'obsessive' and 'nerd') has wed the pillow in a special ceremony, after fitting it out with a wedding dress for the service in front of a local priest. Their nuptials were eagerly chronicled by the local media.

'He is completely obsessed with this pillow and takes it everywhere,' said one friend.

'They go out to the park or the funfair where it will go on all the rides with him. Then when he goes out to eat he takes it with him and it gets its own seat and its own meal,' they added.

The pillow marriage is not the first similarly-themed unusual marriage in recent times - it comes after a Japanese otaku married his virtual girlfriend Nene Anegasaki, a character who only exists in the Nintendo DS game Love Plus, last November.

Go to the link below and see the photo, its hilarious.

Pants survey: Would you wear five-year-old underwear?

More than a quarter of Londoners still wear underwear they've owned for five years or more, according to a revealing and rather intimate survey.

Research revealed 28% of Londoners still wear underwear they've owned for five years or more.

A frightening 27% of men and 7% of women in London confess that they wear briefs for two days without washing them.

And it gets worse - 16% of men and 4% of women say they wear them for three days or longer without changing.

Almost a third of Londoners (29%) are 'turned off' sleeping with a new partner due to their awful underwear.

The study by Kelkoo asked 5,000 UK adults to reveal the truth lurking in the nation's underwear drawers.

Laboratory tests revealed the extent of inadequate underwear washing with E.coli and other harmful bacteria detected on 83% of 'clean' underwear samples over one year old.

A total of 80% of Londoners washed their pants on 40C or less which does not kill bacteria.

Dr Lisa Ackerley, managing director, Hygiene Audit Systems, said: 'The results of the study we conducted on behalf of Kelkoo give some cause for concern, with the levels and types of bacteria detected exposing the fact that lower temperature wash cycles simply don't do a good enough job.

'The testing also highlights the risks people take by washing their underwear with other household items such as tea towels. On a low temperature wash, doing so can easily result in cross contamination of bacterial nasties from pants to tea towels or kitchen cloths, which could then subsequently be transferred to items that come into contact with food, and could ultimately cause food poisoning.

Play and teach the electric guitar at weekends when I am at home in London, spend time with friends and also spend time with family. I try to get out on my motorbike too but that depends on the weather. If I am away abroad working then its simply trying to learn a little about the country I am based in. :he:

News Khabran / Re: BBC Reports Punjab's Drug Addiction problem
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:11:04 PM »
“These disturbing details were submitted by Harjit Singh, Secretary, Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Chandigarh, in reply to a petition filed by some to drug rehabilitation centres before the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

“The affidavit further read that “In the recent times, the amount of narcotic substances seized in the state has also been among the highest in the country”. It also opens with “According to a Punjab Government survey”.

The report also says:

“The secretary, on behalf of the Punjab Government, submitted that “the vibrancy of Punjab is virtually a myth.... many sell their blood to procure their daily doze of deadly drugs, even beg on the streets for money to continue their addiction... The entire Punjab is in the grip of drug hurricane which weakens the morale, physique and character of the youth. We are in the danger of losing the young generation. The vibrant Punjab that had ushered in the green revolution is today living in a dazed stupor as 67 per cent of its rural household has at least one drug addict.”

The above is from Indian Express.

However, the problem is being picked up by many of the worlds news agencies. The following is from the New Zealand Herald.
