Nothing to be proud of just by being a Punjabi. All the praise to those who bought up this religion but You have the same Brown skin as any other brown guy .. Who could be hindu or Muslim (and dont take me rong we do have Hindu and Muslim Punjabis)

- Your Action make you proud. So its not where you live (Punjab) or what you speak make you proud (Punjabi). Involve yourself in the actions that will make you proud and maintain the respect of the race you belong to.

I am not so sure I agree with all of that. It isn’t whether you are Hindu, Muslim or Sikh that should dictate your pride; that in its self brings a different kind of pride. However, national pride is different because Hindu, Sikh or Muslim Punjabi’s can identify in a pride of togetherness. Culture and history obviously have a part to play as well. Sikhs are a case in point because of their blood soaked history.

It is true that a person is judged by his/her actions and so is a nation by its collective actions but that is nothing to do with pride. For instance, death by stoning is permitted in some Islamic countries. That to some is abhorrent; but to the people of those countries it is their law and their way of life. Should they be proud of that? Or should they be concerned that the rest of the world condemns them and might even see them as barbaric? So you see, I believe that is entirely different from being patriotic and showing pride in you nation. I am deeply patriotic when it comes to the Punjab; even more so than ever showing an ounce of Patriotism for India. I see my self as Sikh first, Punjabi Sikh second and Punjabi Sikh Jatt third. My father is Punjab and my mother is Punjabi. India doesn’t even come in fourth.

Very often people get confused between patriotism and nationalism. Patriotic pride and Nationalism are two very different things but can have a blurred border. I see nothing wrong with patriotism at all, after all that is the root to being proud of your unity; in this case the common unity is Punjab. However, nationalism can be something very dangerous because in times of crisis it looks for scapegoats.  An example of that is “ethnic cleansing” which has been witnessed through ages of man. Could anyone ever be proud of ethnic cleansing? I suggest not.

A car carefully steers around the snowman moments before the bus ploughs through it.
As the snowman is flattened shouts of 'no' can be heard in the background.

The video, entitled Insane Bus Driver Brutally Murders Snowman, has sparked debate over whether it's the driver who is to blame for the incident or the person who put it there.

The video was posted after a snowstorm earlier this month.

It is believed the driver resigned after officials with the local travel authority saw the video.
Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District spokeswoman Jan Kijowski told The (Champaign) News-Gazette that the driver resigned.

She refused to identify the driver or discuss the resignation. :laugh: :laugh:

Here is what I see often. It happens more in Punjabi Sikh culture than it does in Hindu or Muslim backgrounds. We Sikh people are in general pretty stupid when it comes to that kind of thing. Alcohol plays a big part in our culture. On the one hand we preach pride in Sikhism and on the other we drink alcohol as though it is going out of fashion; it is disgusting. Then we moan because our offspring is corrupted. Until we understand the evil that is alcohol, until we understand the evil that is ego; we are in no position to preach.

I live in London; it is not very good here either. I have been to Canada and USA and I find it shameful the way our people have changed traditions to suit their ego and that ego is inflated by alcohol. That male dominated culture is not good for our boys and it is not good for our girls.
