 Wahji.. Shabash Sarab kakaji..

 Will post next question tomorrow..

Kudrat Ji...... That answer is incorrect. Whilst all of the letters in the words are in alphabetical order the letters in ABOHOR are technically not! Secondly “ABOHOR” is not an English word.  The correct spelling is “ABHOR” which means to “detest utterly”. Sorry to get all factual. :pagel:

Knowledge / Hiroo Onoda
« on: March 09, 2011, 09:25:58 PM »
In 1944, Lt. Hiroo Onoda was sent by the Japanese army to the remote Philippine island of Lubang. His mission was to conduct guerrilla warfare during World War II. Unfortunately, he was never officially told the war had ended; so for 29 years, Onoda continued to live in the jungle, ready for when his country would again need his services and information. Eating coconuts and bananas and deftly evading searching parties he believed were enemy scouts, Onoda hid in the jungle until he finally emerged from the dark recesses of the island on March 19, 1972.

Hiroo Onoda was 20 years-old when he was called up to join the army. At the time, he was far from home working at a branch of the Tajima Yoko trading company in Hankow (now Wuhan), China. After passing his physical, Onoda quit his job and returned to his home in Wakayama, Japan in August of 1942 to get into top physical condition.

In the Japanese army, Onoda was trained as an officer and was then chosen to be trained at an Imperial Army intelligence school. At this school, Onoda was taught how to gather intelligence and how to conduct guerrilla warfare.

His orders were
“You are absolutely forbidden to die by your own hand. It may take three years, it may take five, but whatever happens, we'll come back for you. Until then, so long as you have one soldier, you are to continue to lead him. You may have to live on coconuts. If that's the case, live on coconuts! Under no circumstances are you [to] give up your life voluntarily.”

The rest of his story can be read here:
http://history1900s.about.com/od/worldwarii/a/soldiersurr.htm

The Song is from the Camel album entitled “Nude” which was dedicated to and told Onoda’s story. The guitarist (Andrew Latimer) is one of my own personal favourite guitarists.

 Yaaro, hun tuci hasyo na.

Friends, don’t laugh.

When I was about 8 my Grandfather bought me a year old Camel. I named him “Dakoo”. When I came to the UK, my Grandfather was indeed sad and he would often have someone write to me and tell me about Dakoo. He never let anyone ride Dakoo. Whenever I returned to the Punjab it was always a pleasure to see Dakoo at the "khoo". Sadly, due to illness Dakoo died in 1995. When I received a letter from Baba Ji I felt very sad and all of my childhood memories came flooding back. 8->

That was the best gift I ever received. I had the best Grandfather and also the best Camel in the world.

News Khabran / Re: Two Sikhs Shot
« on: March 09, 2011, 07:59:08 PM »
It is very sad that this incident has taken place.

If indeed it is a racially motivated crime it has to be said it is abhorrent. Here in the UK people know the difference between a Turban wearing Sikh and a Muslim. Perhaps it is because people in the UK are more tolerant.

What I do know is the American media is atrocious and breeds hatred. The more the US is involved in conflict abroad the more hatred the media puts out. Often it’s reporting is inaccurate.

In the old days Americans hated the Russians because of the Soviet Union. When the USSR fell the Americans suddenly had no one to hate. They realised that ordinary Russian people were not that much different to them selves. Unfortunately, the Americans had been brought up to hate Communists; the Russians were seen as just “Commy B&%@$£ds”; but little did the American people know that the ordinary Russian had the same problems as the ordinary American. Since the Russians aren’t to be hated anymore they need a new scapegoat; so the Muslims fill that vacuum and to some ignorant people Sikhs just look like Muslims.

Nahi Ji, mein is gal nu 100% nahi support de sakda.
The Sikhs have a long standing grievance with the Indian Constitution article 25; the Muslims have a problem with equality and the Christians have regularly persecuted in India.

"The Muslims and the Sikhs have little in their respective traditions which lends positive support to the concept of secularism, yet they will strengthen Indian - Secularism chiefly by guarding the rights of their respective communities." "Both the Muslims and the Sikhs have strongly theocratic elements in their traditions, and secularism does not have much inherent appeal, apart from their minority status"  (Donald Smith)   I agree wid dat quote  :okk: saii kea bilkul ehne  :excited: ..
.

First of all, thank you for reading the opening post. I know it is long and I also understand others do not appreciate why it is so; no worries, there loss.

That is an interesting point, however, India does have a constitution and it does declare it’s self to be built on the principles of democracy and secularism. That is what I was alluding to and further more I was also suggesting that India’s idea of secularism appears to be different to that of the rest of the countries which state their secular credentials; France being a case in point.

Discussions / Re: What is Attitude of Sikhism towards Homosexuality??
« on: March 07, 2011, 03:00:31 PM »
^ Homosexuality is not a mental disorder.

I don't support homosexuality, but If someone is gay let them be as long as they don't do anything to you. What if someone is gay at your workplace and you have to work with him/her? Are you going to avoid them even though you have to work with them? How would they feel? how would you feel as a sikh If someone avoided you for being a sikh? We are not in the 1980's anymore even though India is still way behind. You gender has nothing to do with what you believe in. If someone is gay let them be, you don't have to worry as long as they don't do anything to you.

I agree.

If I was a soldier in a trench, I could not care less if the soldier standing next to me was gay. I would be more interested in knowing whether he could fire a gun or not.

But in terms of religion, most will say homosexuality is against Natural Law. I do not believe at all it is a mental disorder.

Fun Time / Re: Message from the Queen!
« on: March 04, 2011, 07:38:36 PM »

SonnenKinder opening post- That is brilliant. I love it. =D> =D>

God Save The Queen

God save our gracious Queen
Long live our noble Queen
God save the Queen
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the Queen

O Lord our God arise
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall
Confound their politics
Frustrate their knavish tricks
On Thee our hopes we fix
God save us all

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign
May she defend our laws
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen

Not in this land alone
But be God's mercies known
From shore to shore
Lord make the nations see
That men should brothers be
And form one family
The wide world over

From every latent foe
From the assassins blow
God save the Queen
O'er her thine arm extend
For Britain's sake defend
Our mother, prince, and friend
God save the Queen

Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the Queen
(although that last verse isn't usually sung; it is anti Scottish)

Or if you happen to be a Punk Rocker and a fan of the Sex Pistols.

God save the queen
The fascist regime
They made you a moron
Potential H-bomb

God save the queen
She ain't no human being
There is no future
In England's dreaming

Don't be told what you want
Don't be told what you need
There's no future, no future,
No future for you

God save the queen
We mean it man
We love our queen
God saves

God save the queen
'Cause tourists are money
And our figurehead
Is not what she seems

Oh God save history
God save your mad parade
Oh Lord God have mercy
All crimes are paid

When there's no future
How can there be sin
We're the flowers in the dustbin
We're the poison in your human machine
We're the future, your future

God save the queen
We mean it man
We love our queen
God saves

God save the queen
We mean it man
And there is no future
In England's dreaming

No future, no future,
No future for you
No future, no future,
No future for me

No future, no future,
No future for you
No future, no future
For you
