News Khabran / World's Most Wanted
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:38:40 PM »
A look at the  most dangereous faces of crime.

Since Forbes' Most Wanted Fugitives list first appeared in April 2008, not a single one of the criminals has been brought to book.  This year's list features Osama bin Laden at the top for the second time.  Dawood Ibrahim, India's most wanted man suspected of having organized the 1993 Mumbai bombings, figures third on the list.

1.
                             OSAMA BIN LADEN

The most wanted man in the world has evaded capture for the last eight years.  The man believed to be behind the horrific September 11, 2001 attacks is said to be hiding in Pakistan's tribal areas, but US Defense Secretary Robert Gates has said in recent months that the US does not have good intelligence on Bin Laden's whereabouts and it might be years before he is caught. US State Department is still offering $25 million for information leading to his capture.

2.
                       JOAQUIN GUZMAN
He is the world's most notorious drug trafficker and he continues to grow stronger and more powerful. Known as el Chapo, or Shorty, Guzman heads Mexico's Sinaloa cartel and over the last two years he has extended his control over corridors in Mexico used to smuggle cocaine and marijuana into the US.

3.
                          DAWOOD IBRAHIM

The most wanted man in India, Ibrahim is suspected of having organized the 1993 Bombay bombings that killed hundreds of people. Leading a 5,000-member criminal syndicate, D-Company, he has engaged in everything from narcotics to contract killing. According to the US government, Ibrahim collaborated with both Al-Qaida and Lashkar-e-Taiba, which pulled off the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, possibly with Ibrahim's help.

4.
                    SEMION MOGILEVICH
The face of Russian organized crime was briefly arrested in 2008 in Russia and hence was excluded from Forbes' first Most Wanted list. However, he was released in 2009 after his lawyers said Mogilevich was innocent of the tax charges.

5.
                   MATTEO MESSINA DENARO

The Italian mafia remains the most famous organized criminal group, and Matteo Messina Denaro has taken control of it. Denaro, nicknamed "Diabolic," appeared on the first Forbes Most Wanted list two years ago when he was only emerging as a leader of the Italian mafia, one of the most famous organised criminal group.
The Italian mafia's playboy, Denaro is known for living a fast lifestyle, driving Porches and fancying Rolex watches.

News Khabran / Australian Woman murdered by Facebook Friend
« on: May 17, 2010, 07:25:32 PM »
An Australian woman who had gone to meet a man she befriended on social networking site

Facebook has been murdered, a media report Saturday said.

Rescuing injured animals is all 18-year-old Australian Nona Belomesoff wanted to do. Instead, her best intentions led to her murder, say police, allegedly by a 20-year-old man who used Facebook to lure her on a trip to save injured animals.
Twenty-year-old Christopher James Dannevig is charged with murdering the young woman at a creek south of Sydney, reports BBC News.

Police have come forward to urge all teenagers to remove their profile pictures from Facebook and the names of the schools they attend.

Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec urged drastic action to protect children and teenagers against potential Internet predators. “Don’t have a photo of yourself on Facebook. Have photos only open to friends. Treat each person you talk to as a complete stranger,” News.com.au quoted him as saying.Supt Kerlatec said that Internet predators searched social networking site profiles for children’s interests then, pretending to share them, struck up a conversation.

He warned teens should never agree to meet a stranger they met online unless they were with friends and had also alerted their parents to their plans.

Belomesoff’s is the second alleged murder of a young Australian woman linked to social networking.

Psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg raised warnings about online predators in his book Real Wired Child in 2007.

“Sadly, it’s an incredibly steep learning curve we’re all on. The fact is, it’s dangerous online. Young people can get into horrendous trouble,” he said.“No matter what our age . . . we should be careful of the people who we meet online and not assume that they are who they represent themselves to be,” he said.

Religion, Faith, Spirituality / GURUDWARA AMB SAHIB
« on: May 15, 2010, 12:53:42 AM »
                                     GURUDWARA AMB SAHIB

Gurdwara Amb Sahib is the historic place at Mohali (Punjab), across from Gurdwara Sant Mandal Angitha Sahib, which has the blessings of The Great Guru Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji. Here at this place, Guru Ji blessed his Gursikh who felt contented. Amb in Punjabi means mangoe.
History

Bhai Kuram Singh, a lobana by caste, and a resident of Village Lambian traveled to Amritsar to have a glimpse of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. It was season of mangoes and the court of the great Guru Arjun Dev Ji was in place. The followers were giving their offerings. Followers from Kabul came with ripe mangoes. Bhagat Kuram Singh felt sorry that he had came from the land of mangoes but had not thought to bring any to the Guru.
When the darbar ended that night the mangoes were distributed among the devotees as Parshad. All the followers went to their deras to retire. Bhai Kuram Singh did not eat the mango given to him as parshad. Next day he got up in the morning, took his bath and carried the mango he had received as parshad and offered the same in darbar.

Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji called to Bhai Kuram ji and said, "This mango was given to you as parshad but you have offered the same here". Bhai Kuram Singh very humby bowed before the Guru and answered, "Your Highness, I have come from the land of mangoes but have not brought any for offering to You, so I retained this one for offering to you." Guru Ji ordered him to eat the fruit and promised that his offering shall one day be taken.

On the first day of Poh (mid-December), keeping his father's the previous Guru's promise, the Great Guru Sri Har Rai Ji came here from Kurukshetra, enquired about his follower and came to know that he was deeply engrossed in meditation in the garden. Guru Ji came to him and ordered Bhai Kuram Singh to fulfill his promise of giving a mango. He, very politely, responded to Guru Ji that he was unable to offer any fruit because mangoes were not in season. You can't do what ever you feel like.

Upon listening to his reply Guru Ji asked him to look up and notice that the mangoe tree, under which he had been sitting in meditation, was now full of ripe fruits. Bhai Kuram Singh bowed to touch the feet of The great Guru in astonishment. Guru Ji told him to offer mangoes to the sangat. Obeying the orders of Guru Ji Bhai Kuram Singh served mangoes to the Holy Guru and the whole sangat.

I rememeber, i used go to Amb sahib mostly everyday...assi 5 frdz see ikathe..jado v koyee v ups ya downs ayunde c life vich..oddo hi sabde mann vich ik gal ayundi c chalo Amb Sahib chaleye..I miss them all..Sadiyan sarian murada Gurudawara Shib toh purian hoyea ne..assi sare jaane last time v vicharan toh pehla Gurudwara sahib hi gaye c fer os toh baad apne apne ghar..
Now they all r busy..I still miss them..mere dil de bahut precoius gems ne oh sare...Wahiguruji bless them.. 8-

News Khabran / JUMBO JET CRASH IN LYBIA- ONLY ONE SURVIVOR
« on: May 12, 2010, 06:53:16 PM »
A Libyan Airbus jet crashed early on Wednesday as it tried to land in Tripoli airport

killing 103 people on board, most of them Dutch, leaving a young Dutch boy the sole survivor, officials said.

The Airbus A330-200, which had only been in service since September, was flying from Johannesburg to the Libyan capital when it crashed just short of the runway around 6:00 a.m (0400 GMT), the airline and planemaker said."Everybody is dead, except for one child," Libyan Transport Minister Mohamed Zidan told a news conference at Tripoli airport. The plane was carrying 93 passengers and 11 crew, Libyan officials and executives from the airline said.

The aircraft is the same type as Air France flight 447, which crashed in the Atlantic on June 1 last year. The cause of that crash has not been firmly identified.

How did the child survive?

A 13-year-old girl was the only survivor of a Yemeni Airbus 310 that crashed last June near the Comoros islands. With the young boy, now hospitalized but in stable condition in Tripoli, as the sole survivor of this crash, some are asking, "why did these children survive?"

Waldock says that each crash is different, but it’s possible that the mere fact of the child’s smaller size within an adult-sized seat may have protected the 10-year-old boy in the Afriqiyah Airways aircraft from the impact of the crash. “Often it’s simply because they’re a lot smaller and lighter, and if a seat separates from the plane and goes tumbling, he’s simply smaller” and more protected by the frame of the seat than an adult would be, he says.

Knowledge / HANDS ONLY - CPR
« on: May 11, 2010, 08:51:24 PM »
                                             CPR- A LIFESAVING ACTION
When an adult has a sudden cardiac arrest, his or her survival depends greatly on immediately getting CPR from someone nearby.

Unfortunately, less than 1/3 of those people who experience a cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location get that help. Most bystanders are worried that they might do something wrong or make things worse. That’s why the AHA has simplified things.

Don’t be afraid. Your actions can only help.

First of all call 911 or EMS..

1.COMPRESSION ONLY CPR
When you see an adult collapse..

•   See if patient is responding by tapping her shoulder and shouting loudly.

IF PATIENT IS UNRESPONSIVE
•   Have another bystander activate EMS, if alone call yourself.

2. PERFORM INITIAL ASSESSMENT

•   Establish an airway using head tilt, chin lift

•   Look, listen, feel for breathing.

PATIENT IS NOT BREATHING

3.PERFORM CONTINUOS CHEST COMPRESSIONS

•   Place heel of hands on the centre of chest in b/t nipples.
•   Perform continuous compressions at the rate of about 100 times per minute.
•   Compress fast , deep, allow chest to fully , expand and minimize interruptions to compressions.
•   Stop only if allow another provider or EMS to take over

HERE'S LINK FOR VIDEO FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSE..

Hands-Only CPR

THANKS..IF U WANT ANY KIND OF MORE EXPLANATION AND WANT ADD MORE U R MOST WELCOME.. 8->

News Khabran / A KEY TO DELAY AGEINGG...
« on: May 10, 2010, 08:56:26 PM »
The 16-year-old girl, Brooke Greenberg, has stunned the doctors with her unusual condition

how come a teenage girl looks like a baby and can’t even talk? That is the question many people ask themselves.

American scientists are keenly studying the DNA of a 17-year-old girl who still has the body and behaviour of a baby, hoping to gain new insights into the mysteries of ageing.

At 16lb in weight and just 30in tall, Brooke Greenberg is still the size of a one-year-old.

According to a preliminary study of her DNA, her failure to grow could be linked to defects in the genes that make the rest of humanity grow old.

If confirmed, the research could give scientists a fresh understanding of ageing and even suggest new therapies for diseases linked to old age, reports The Times.

"We think that Brooke's condition presents us with a unique opportunity to understand the process of ageing," said Richard Walker, a professor at the University of South Florida School of Medicine, who is leading the research team.

"We think that she has a mutation in the genes that control her ageing and development so that she appears to have been frozen in time.

"If we can compare her genome to the normal version then we might be able to find those genes and see exactly what they do and how to control them."
This reminds me of Benjamin Button's Story.Benjamin Button’s story left all a positive message, life is not always the way we want, and sometimes is upside down for no reason, we can do nothing about it, but we learn to deal with it, and be happy.

THANKS

Cars / LETS BUY 2011 BEST CARS..
« on: May 09, 2010, 01:46:01 AM »

Though i dont have much knowledge abt cars but came across really nice cars for 2011..lets have look on these gorgeous cars.. :pagel:

1.2011 FORD FIESTA

Starting Price: $13,320 Available for pre-order (on sale in summer 2010)

One of the most anticipated cars for 2011 is the Ford Fiesta, which has been on sale in Europe since 2008. Now North America is finally getting a version of this popular small car – and early test drives show it doesn't disappoint. In fact, at press time, the Fiesta is already ranked at the top of our Affordable Small Car class and gets our highest Overall score ever (9.6 out of 10).

Because it offers things many other small cars don’t, such as a fun driving experience and a comfortable, upscale cabin. The Fiesta has features rarely seen in its class -- from available heated seats to Ford's SYNC system to a driver’s knee airbag. On top of that, it manages to get hybrid-like fuel economy (but doesn’t cost nearly as much as most hybrids). Ford estimates the Fiesta will get 30 miles per gallon in the city and 40 miles per gallon on the highway.

2.2011 HYUNDAI SONATA
Starting Price: $19,195

Completely redesigned for 2011, the new Hyundai Sonata is one of the most unusual-looking midsize sedans we’ve seen in years. But that’s not the only reason it stands out. The Sonata is now one of the cheapest cars in its class and continues to carry one of the longest powertrain warranties. It also comes with impressive standard features like XM satellite radio and Bluetooth. Reviewers like it so much that at press time, the Sonata was ranked at the top of its class.

Hyundai offers the Sonata with only a four-cylinder engine, though almost every other car in its class is available with a V6. Still, since the Sonata is a light car, it offers plenty of power. Even better is its impressive fuel economy. The 2011 Sonata is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid car in its class.

3.2011 NISSAN LEAF

2011 Nissan LeafStarting Price: $32,780 (before up to $7,500 in federal tax savings) Available for reservation (starting May 15, with delivery in December 2010)

When the Nissan Leaf hits the streets, it will be the first mass-produced all-electric vehicle -- and it even comes with a relatively affordable price (and is eligible for tax credits on top of that). The Leaf runs on an electric motor powered by a massive battery pack which can be charged by a standard 220-volt home outlet or a quick-charging station. The Leaf can travel up to 100 miles on a full charge -- more than most people drive in a single day.

It’s a four-door hatchback and seats up to five passengers, so you can use the Leaf as a family car. Since it doesn’t require gasoline, it is inexpensive to operate and should be ideal for commuters, too. According to Nissan, based on national average electricity rates, the Leaf should only cost three dollars to charge. Plus, initial test drives show that this electric vehicle drives just as well as any car, with smooth acceleration and braking.

4.2011 INFINITI M

Starting Price: $46,250 Incentives: 2.9% APR for up to 60 months on M37 trims; Expires 6/30/10

Long overshadowed by rivals like the BMW 5-Series, the Infiniti M has never received much attention. But it’s a different story for 2011 -- Infiniti has redesigned the M, and it’s now one of the best-performing full-size luxury sedans. The new model adds more power, sharper handling, and more luxurious interior materials. It also boasts a new look that’s difficult to ignore. Some reviewers love the look, while others think it’s hideous. Either way, the 2011 M is sure to get you noticed.

The M is also big on technology. Its suite of high-tech safety features include a blind spot warning system that will actually take over steering in order to avoid a collision. There’s also a class-exclusive, optional “Forest Air” system that varies the vent fan speed in order to replicate the effects of a breeze. Engineers say it can even detect and neutralize cabin odors.

News Khabran / HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 2010
« on: May 09, 2010, 01:04:05 AM »
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOMS IN THE WORLD!!!

Mother’s Day, celebrated on the second Sunday of May falls on 9th May this year.
This is wonderful way to pay tribute to all mothers for their love and support and to make them feel special. The  day  honours motherhood and is an expression of gratitude to them for the hardships they bear in bringing up a child.

                                         BOND B/W MOM AND CHILD

With the cutting of the umbilical cord at birth, the physical attachment to our mothers ceases but this is when psychological and emotional attachments begin. Being physically attached to our mothers within the womb is life sustaining but it is the emotional and psychological attachment that follows later, which provides a foundation for us to thrive in this world. A firm bond between mother and child is a prerequisite for normal development. Research has proven that this bonding is reflected in how well children do in school, how they build relationships and how well they cope with stressful or new situations. In other words, it is this bond that helps in shaping a child’s overall personality and is the most important part of a child’s life.

                                           HISTORY OF MOTHER'S DAY

1..The celebration came from ancient Greece of 'mother worship', a festival to Cybele a great mother of Greek gods. The festival was held around the Vernal Equinox around Asia Minor & eventually in Rome - from the Ides of March - March 15 to March 18.

2..Ancient Rome had another holiday, Matronalia, that was dedicated to Juno, though mothers were usually given gifts on this day.

3..Historians reported that children who served in houses during this time were given a day off on that date so they could visit their families. The children would pick flowers along the way to place them at the church or give them as a token gift to their mothers.

                                                  MODERN CELEBRATION
When the United States congress approved Mother’s Day in 1914, they designated it for the second Sunday in May.

HIGH COMMERCIALIZATION OF THIS PURE DAY

Knowledge / How to build up Your Grey Matter
« on: May 06, 2010, 11:57:29 PM »

We always discuss about our physical well being, exercises of body..You may hit the gym for aerobics, but you should also be exercising your brain daily...but what we r doing to sharp ur brain????

So here's r new ways to get smart..and delay  ageing of ur brain..

1.    READ ALOUD

This apparently lights up the brain like switchboard. Just a minute a day will benefit your brain function.

2.    GET WORD-SAVVY

-Playing board games reduces your risk of dementia, in particular Scrabble.
-In fact building a vocabulary is one of the best things you can do for your brain. So every day look up a new word in the dictionary, say it out loud, and then try to use it in a sentence, either in your mind or in a conversation.

3.    EAT AND DRINK TO STAY SHARP

-Blueberries, turmeric, soy milk and avocados are all great brain food, along with purple grape juice as the polyphenals it contains slows down brain ageing.

4.       ROUTINE SWAP

You may hit the gym for aerobics, but you should also be exercising your brain daily. These are easy, and mostly   involve changing your routine to engage your brain more deeply from day to day.
--Try brushing your teeth or using the computer mouse with the opposite hand to the one you usually use, or simply take a different route to work once a week.

5.   WALK

Not only does it increase blood circulation, oxygen and glucose to the brain, but walking just 20 minutes a day can decrease your risk of memory loss and stroke and improve learning ability, concentration and abstract reasoning.

THANKS..ENJOY UR YOUNG BRAIN

DEATH SENTENCE FOR AJMAL KASAB- lONE SURVIVING TERRORIST IN 26/11 MUMBAI ATTACKS

Kasab, a Pakistan citizen, has turned into one of India's costliest prisoners. Till now, the Government has spent over 35 crore rupees for his safety.

A Mumbai Special Court, which conducted the trial of 26/11 terror strikes, after 526 dayz has announced the death penalty for Ajmal Amir Kasab. The sentencing by Judge M L Tahiliyani makes Kasab the 52nd person on death row in India. Kasab was handed capital punishment for killing 72 people and waging war against the state.

The 22-year-old Kasab, from Pakistan's Punjab province was seen crying as he was led back to the court room after stepping out briefly with the judge's consent to drink water.

At one point, special judge M.L. Tahaliyani asked the defence lawyer if Kasab wanted to say something. When the question was posed to him, Kasab just shook his head. He looked irritated and again sat down. The judge then spoke directly to the prisoner in Hindi: 'Do you want to say something?' Kasab looked at the judge blankly, shook his head and sat down.

The death penalty will not be executed immediately.First,it has to be confirmed by Bombay High Court.Even if Kasab doesn't apeal against death sentence it has to be confirmed by High court.if appeal is agrred by high court then Ksab can appeal to the Supreme Court. He has also one more option to file for mercy petition to President Pratibha Patil.

For ur general knowledge India's statistics shows that..

At least 100 people in 2007, 40 in 2006, 77 in 2005, 23 in 2002, and 33 in 2001 were sentenced (but not executed) to death, according to Amnesty International figures. No official statistics of those sentenced to death have been released.
Afzal Guru was convicted of conspiracy in connection with the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and was sentenced to death. The Supreme Court of India upheld the sentence, ruling that the attack "shocked the conscience of the society at large." Afzal was scheduled to be executed on October 20, 2006, but the sentence was stayed. The Afzal case remains a volatile political issue. And now Kasab's Death punishment will again bring Afzal's case in light...

Thanks

News Khabran / A "Monstrous" Crime~ Female Foeticide
« on: May 06, 2010, 12:04:46 AM »
Though its not a new topic for discussion but they have been still meeting silent deaths....

--It is believed that millions of female foetuses have been aborted in India over the past 20 years. And the practice of brutally murdering `unborn` daughters is continuing unabated.
--On April 19, authorities in Gujarat found over a dozen human foetuses in a rubbish bin in Ahmedabad. They suspect that local abortion clinics might have dumped the foetuses after conducting illegal sex determination tests. And anyways, female foeticide is not at all a new phenomenon in India.
--According to a report by the UNICEF, Jat boys from Haryana are seeking brides from as far away as Kerala because of fewer girls in their own state.

--The current sex ratio in India, as per 2001 Census, is 1000:927 (1,000 boys and 927 girls) while in some states like Gujarat the ratio stands at 1000:878, Himachal Pradesh 1000:820 and Chhatisgarh 1000:845, according to the National Commission of Women (NCW) chairperson Girija Vyas. In 1991, the national figure was 947 girls to 1000 boys.

SO WHY DOES THIS HAPPENS???

1.High priority is given to the male child with the belief that he will be the one to care for his parents in their old age whereas a daughter would not. It is also believed that the male will be the breadwinner of the family.
 2. Another reason is the notion that without a male child, there would be no future generations bearing the family name.
 3. The dowry system in India also is a contributing factor to female foeticide and infanticide; the thought of having to scrounge up an exorbitant amount for the daughter’s wedding in the future is a deterrent, especially to poor families.

HERE'S LATEST CENSUS REPORT ON THIS CRIMINAL AND PATHETIC ACT--

1.A survey conducted by the United Nations in 2007 revealed that over 2,000 unborn girls are aborted every day in India.
2.A research conducted by Prabhat Jha, Canada Research Chair in Health and Development at the University of Toronto, and his colleagues from India indicated the deficit of over 10 million female births in India over the past two decades. The research, based on a national survey of 1.1 million households in 1998 and published in 2006 in The Lancet journal, said pre-natal selection and selective abortion were leading to the loss of 500,000 girls a year in India.
3.However, the study was disputed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) that claimed the number of female foeticides is closer to 250,000 per year.
4.Indians in other countries are going for sex selective abortions is evident by the fact that sex ratio at birth among the Indian community in New Jersey is as bad as in Punjab and Haryana.
A report in the British Newspaper, 'observer', hand come up with evidence that British Asian women go to India to abort their baby girls.

hmm, We can see how bad is this situation? In my opinion, Parents, Girl, Government , society and Medical rofessionals all r responsible for this disgusting situation..mainly young boys ang girls need to take efforts for bringing awareness in society..

I want to ask PUNJABI JANTA..What shoud be done against this crime??????
